Chapter 6

They got to school half an hour early. After getting out of the car, they decided to go sit and wait on one of the benches set up by the main entrance. While Ollie made a call on his cell, Leo pulled a cookbook from his bag and began rifling through it, looking first for a recipe for blueberry muffins and then one for Johnnycakes. He found one for blueberry muffins and vowed he would spend his weekend perfecting his muffin making skills. Certainly there was a logical way to make something so perfect. He had precision and executed a recipe with such thoughtful accuracy that he was certain to be able to produce as good a muffin as he had just sampled. He would have to buy the best ingredients, take a trip out of town to the gourmet market in the city, but it would be worth it. He was still poring over the book when Ollie walked past him and headed inside.

“Leo, man, you coming in or what?”
