The Beginning of The End

It was a stormy night when she pointed her sword towards the throat of a lady in front of her — wearing a torn dress, a pair of beautiful brown eyes, and with messy hazel hair looking at her with emotionless eyes.

Standing in front of her, the thunder roared and the lightning highlighted her pair of purple red eyes. The color of her eyes symbolizes her agony and madness towards her as she pointed the sword in her throat with a trembling hand. She who had eyes that change colors with its emotion cries in tears.

She cannot believe herself or didn't even see it coming. She realizes she was an idiot for the life she lived. She thought she protected them, but she was the one who was tricked and abused by her kindness to them.

Eyes that once had a beautiful sparkling night sky expressing her emotion of love to them now filled with madness and pain as it made her emotionless. She had never once thought about this betrayal. She trusted them the most.

She has already lost someone she cherished the most, and now the one she hopes to not leave her side has also left her. She didn't lose them, they left her alone in the cold and cruel world.

Betrayals of friendship and love, she had already enough. She gulped, having hatred in her eyes as she glares at the lady with hazel-colored hair — she cuts her head in a swift second leaving no trace of the body.

She knelt down as she felt her knees get weak. The thunder roars again and the silhouette of the bodies below her appeared. The body of the friends she killed made her heart burst into pain once more. She has accepted the fate she doesn't want to, but she also had no other choice.

Losing sanity, she thought killing them is right. She was made into a villainess that no one wants.

A year passed, and another year until the present. Each day came after the accident and each day comes with a hope of telling, please save me.

Each day she comes with a regret in her heart. But also hatred towards them. Each day she was punished by the warm memories she made with them. She missed the old days when she can still smile brightly and have hope like the light she had lost in herself.

No one ever wanted on that day of the accident. Not even her friends also wanted it. They all have no other choice, they are all but victims of greed for power.

Another year passed and it's already the anniversary of their deaths. Each year of day, she imagines herself with them. Still happy and smiling, hoping for a savior to save them. But no one came, and no one approached.

She stood there in her window looking through the city she has built in the past years. She already has it all — power and men but she still wasn't satisfied.

Regrets creeping up on her, she decided to run away. "If she can run away, then I should do it too, right?" She thought of herself under the big old tree as she stares into Hiro's grave — her old friend.

The wind was a little chilly but she didn't care while the moonlight embraced her dark blue hair. She puts her cloak in and left the world she created from her power forever.

[Present Day]

The bird's chirping from her window sill while the sunlight peeked through Elyse's window. She opens her chocolate eyes tainted with gold, hazel orbs shining as the sunlight reflected her beautiful eyes. She groans as she stretches her arms and body. She took a deep breath and look outside from her window.

She heared her little brother's voice from the garden which made her fell into curiosity. She peeked from her window to the garden as saw her little brother playing with their Father.

Her Father is a gardener and works on a botique shop while her Mother works at a cheapmarket place where she sells fruits and vegetables inside the city.

Elyse's home is far away from the Empire. A countryside with enough food resources that planted freshly from her Father. Even though he is a botanist, he also knows how to plan vegetables and fruits.

"Hey careful Luke!" Elyse shouted from her window when she saw her little brother playing with their Father. Elyse started her day bathing herself beside the waterfall from their house. After she bath, she puts on her clothes and came back to the house while her hair still wet.

The refreshing wind from the morning made Elyse even more happier. Today, she can feel it. Her day will be much more happier than before.

"Child, breakfast is ready!" Her mother calls her out when she entered the house. Elyse nodded and dries her hair with wind spells she studied last night. Her smile went ear to ear as her heart pounding hard. It's been weeks ever since she finally succeeded in using wind spell.

From childhood, she dreamt of being The Great Magician that will serve the Master of the Empire and this world. She dreamt of being on her side, protecting her from danger though that would be a distant dream.

The Master of the Empire doesn't want such a thing to protect her. She's powerful. Powerful enough to create another dimension to live on. The Master is also the one who taught the four leaders of the four districts spells and martial arts.

But still, having the title "The Great Magician" is one of the best thing that Elyse wanted to have. A kind hearted and warm person like hers deserve that. After drying up her brown chocolate hair, she goes down to the kitchen to eat breakfast with her family.

Everything in the morning went well. After breakfast, her father and mother headed to the city for work while she was left alone with her brother. They both played games like chess. And in the afternoon, she took her little brother on a nap while her brother is napping, she took a book that she borrowed from the City Librarian and studied magic again.

She's now on the 5th level of Magician. For Magicians, they believed that having these three things; mana, status and knowledge will make them stay beside The Master of the Empire and get the title, "The Great Magician" and have the "piece of Eternal Stone". It is a stone that came from The Master's power.

The other pieces of the Eternal Stone was given to the four leaders. But since The Master is now missing, the other nobles believed that if they showed their prowess at leadership and magic, they might be given greater power.

But for Elyse, it isn't something like that. She wanted the title, yes but not the Eternal Stone. Because she believes that if you wanted to serve The Master, status and power is not required to achieve such but serving The Master is much more better than getting the title. Like she always dreamed of.

For most young magicians, they can only attain the 3rd level of being a magician. For those whose talented will be those 4th magicians. In which case, Elyse - her magic's power is level 5 is a rare case. If she's already in the 5th stage, there's a possibility that she can attain the level 10th mana of magic. A level deserving for the Great Magician.

The night falls and Elyse decided to make dinner. She calls out her little brother and they both ate their dinner. It's already 9pm yet their parents aren't home. She's starting to get worried while the clock continues to tick in each seconds. It's 9:30pm and she started to walk back to back while biting off her nails. 10:00pm and there's still no signs of her parents.

She decided to find them. Determined, she took her cloak from her room and is about to open the door when her brother called her name.

"Sister Elyse, where are you going?" She stopped closing her eyes. Elyse doesn't want him to feel worried that their parents aren't home yet. Luke is a smart child but she still want to protect him. She knelt down facing Luke.

"Luke, i'm going outside. Don't come out okay?" She said and hugged her brother with her trembling arms. She can't lie to her brother.

"Are you going to search for mama and papa?" He asked. Elyse sigh. Sometimes, being too smart is scary. She nodded with a faint smile in her face.

"Yes, sister's worried that mama and papa aren't home yet." She cupped his cheeks and Luke's small arms hugged her head. A warm smile engraved in her face while she kissed his cute cheeks.

"I'm going okay?" Luke nodded and so Elyse. She unlocked the doors then suddenly heard a banging knock on the door.

"Elyse! Elyse are you in there?!" She heard her mother's voice outside from the door. She didn't hesistant to open the door and was shocked to see her mother's face bleeding.

"Mama you bleed too much!" She exclaimed. Her mother shook off her head. "This isn't too bad. But please, listen to me my Child - acck!" Her mother's words were cut off when a sudden knife stabbed right through her mother's heart.

Her mother fell down as blood came out from her mouth.

"Mama!" She use a protective shield spell to secure the three of them. She put her mother's head unto her legs to look at her face. She's still breathing, but it's faint.

She looked at the murderer who stabbed her mother. "Who are you?!" She didn't see the murderer well but she saw a golden strand in her hair.

"R-run..." She heard her mother's coarse and almost whispered voice. She looked at her and shakes off her head. Luke started to cry.

"No! I won't leave you! We won't leave you!" She shouted and caresses her mother's cheek.

"Come on! Everything's fine until then... please Mother don't give up i will call for someone's help!" She exclaimed.

"Hmm. This protective spell is somewhat similar to someone i know." Her gaze turned to the murderer who wears a dark coat. There was a symbol in it's arms but she cannot clearly see due to the lights that went off after she enters and stabs her mother.

"So, you're a mage." The murderer starts to walk towards them. "No! Stand back!" The spell became much stronger than the earlier. The murderer then gets back. Elyse realized that the murderer cannot withstand light so she casted a light spell.

'is she a demon?' the murderer starts to groan and pain which made Elyse's eyes shone of hope. But then, the murderer started to laugh.

"Did you just think i would be scared of light?" Silence fell to the both of them while Luke continues to cry. The murderer then starts to stabbing the protective barrier but it was no use.

"How silly of me. I thought this would break just for one stab." Elyse felt insulted by it's words. She looked at the thing with anger in her eyes.

"Oh, nevermind it worked." Elyse was shocked to see the barrier starts to crumble.

"LISTEN TO ME!" her mother tried to stand up.

"Mother no!"

"Listen to me well you both." She said and tightly grips their both arms.

"Your father is dead." As if the world turned dark, she stood there frozen to her mother's words.

"Wha-what happened-"

"There's no time to explain! Listen to me!" Her mother touched their cheeks and kissed their forehead.

"Stay alive for me, Luke and Elyse." Tears streamed down from her mother's eyes and they all both started to cry.

"Mama no! We won't leave you alone!" Luke exclaimed.

Her mother hugged Elyse and put both of their foreheads to one another staring back at each other's eyes.

"Mama..."

"Run. Run away and don't look back. Run away with you little brother i'll distract her." She said with her almost whispered voice. Her strength starting to get weak so she kissed her daughter's forehead.

"I love you." Finally the barrier broke and Elyse was about to be stabbed but then her mother shielded her again. Elyse was left no choice but to stand up and run away from the killer.

"This is the price we have to pay, Elyse. Because we are her descendants." She remembers her mother's words while they both run away along with her little brother in the dark forest. The rain started to fall and the thunders roared high and low while they ran.

"Hang in there!" She said to her brother. Suddenly, she saw a white tape that attacks to the both of them. Elyse dodged it but her brother was captured.

"Luke!" She screamed but the attackers were fast enough to touch her arms and stops her to go to Luke.

"SISTER ELYSE!" Luke shouted and his head was chopped off switfly. Her mind went blank.

She stood there, shocked by the corpse of her little brother. She knelt down and tried to hugged him but his head was cut off.

'no.. no..' she said in her mind. Tears starting to fall down from her face.

Her face went blank and her eyes went lifeless.

Everything. Everything in the morning still looks beautiful and peaceful. What is happening? I can't catch up. What does Mother mean when she said this is the price we need to pay?

Do we really deserve this?

Not only does her parents were killed but also her little brother. Without even a warning, they were all killed.

"This is the order from The New Master. Kill everyone who went against to her." A man in black said from behind her. The man was about to touch her arms but Elyse coldly said, "let go."

All of them felt something wrong in her. But they still insisted on capturing her.

"I said let go!" She shouted and a her eyes turned into golden yellow. Her presence and aura changed and all of them were frightened by her.

"Hey! What are you doing?! Tie her up!" The other man said and they all tied her up. Elyse cannot do anything. Her gaze fell into her hands and a bright idea comes from her mind.

'what if, i kill them all?' her eyes shines gold even more and a dark omnious power came from her hand and she's ready to attack when suddenly a mysterious stranger helped her.

She didn't saw the mysterious man while the rain still fell hard from the sky and thunders roaring everywhere. In just one swift, they were all killed. The skies became clear and a big bright moon shows up.

"Are you okay?" A husky voice appeared in front of her. He untied her. She felt safe and calm in his presence which made her faint from everything she experience in one night.

The mysterious man catches her. He looked at Elyse's face. With his silver hair and ruby red eyes, it glows as the moonlight reflected his features.

"Yohan!" He turned around only to see Wayne, calling for him.

"Lucas is looking for you." He said. Yohan nodded. Wayne felt irritated because he's still quiet even today's present.

"This new master is really annoying, trying to mess things up at everything that our master created." Wayne said irritation was felt from his voice.

"Let's take this girl." Yohan suggested.

"Huh? Okay." Wayne said with a big question mark in his face.
