She Was Deceived
Joan hadn't realized how much she wanted Eleanor's approval until she felt the satisfaction of almost getting it.
"She wasn't hmm... how you say it, but I sense she's open to giving me a chance." She hesitantly answered Mark. Unsure how to put it in a word.
"That's all we need," Mark said, holding her close. "A chance."
Mark pulled her into his embrace, and she fell into his arms, feeling the steady beat of his heart on the palm of her hand that she used to block his chest.
Times like these made all the stress and uncertainty worthwhile—when it felt like they were the only two people in the world. Shyly, she slowly pushed him to put a distance between them.
"S-sir...Please refrain from doing this when it's only the two of us. I-I don't don't think we must embrace when there's no one around." She stammered as she stepped back a couple of steps away from him.
