The Billionaire and the Hitman's Daughter (Refurbished)

Set in 2022, the romance book revolves around the love life of its major character, Bruce, who is a CEO of his father's company in the US. He had a dysfunctional childhood following the assassination of his mum, Jacqueline, when he was just 8 years old. His father, Harrison, couldn't be the family and comfort that he needed as he struggled with grief and sent his young Bruce to a boarding school in the UK. Bruce's childhood caught up with him as he grew up, nothing short of a full blown narcissist who never gave the idea of love a chance. This changed when Imelda walked into his life. Imelda, a fervent Catholic of Russian descent is modest and Bruce is everything she normally wouldn't want in a lover. Imelda had her own share of dysfunctionality growing up. Her parents, Eugenia and Yakov were divorced when she was four years old and her father was imprisoned not too long after. She grew up not having the life she'd have considered perfect for her. Imelda is an author who also waits tables at VIP events. After fate plays out while the book unfolds, these two become a couple, defeating villains and mini-villains along the way too. In the end, they clinch the happily ever after life they so much fought for. The story reaffirms the reader's hope in the existence of love that's capable of defeating trauma and surmounting challenges.

Chapter Twelve

It had been 3 hours since Imelda had that conversation with Jaden and she still hadn't been able to get that blush off her cheeks. He'd given her his number but she didn't know if texting him now would mean that she was desperate or needy and she didn't want to be that person.

"You know what? I'll text him now. Yeah." Imelda said to herself for the tenth time with her eyes on her phone's screen while her fingers scrolled up and down over his number.

"Oh. Fuck. I can't. Ughhhh.. you're such a loser, Imelda." She replied herself with a shriek into her laps as she admitted her cowardice.

Imelda had loved Jaden when she was much younger but never gave it out to him, and looking back, she'd always felt it was nothing but a teenage feeling that rocked her world and kept her happy most times.

In this moment, she had a ton of reasons to believe that she really did feel something for him while she reminisced his manly countenance and his handsome face as she was slipping into her lustful thoughts of the things she'd want him to do to her.

"Imelda, the fuck? That's so wrong, and you know it. Father in heaven, I'm sorry for those streak of nasty thoughts, but I'm certainly into this guy, a whole lot. I bet you see that, too." Imelda said with her two palms embracing each other and her fingers hooked one into the other while she bent her head with closed eyes.

"You certainly do pray better these days. I'm sorry I didn't warn you about how awestriking Jason is now." Eugenia said with one leg into Imelda's room and the other leg almost settling in to the room as well.

"Oh! Come on, mum. You eavesdropping on prayers now?" Imelda said with a smile that made her mum laugh.

"So, tell me, what part of him had you praying to Jesus?" Eugenia said with a teenage glee on her face.

"Mum, you're nasty." Imelda said with a slight chuckle as she threw her pillow on her mum.

"How'd you think I had you, uhn?" Eugenia asked with every part of her body heightening the innuendos in the room.

"Gross, mum.. I'm not doing this with you. Nope." Imelda replied with a tint of awkwardness and shyness in her tone.

"Well, I'm just saying, urges bring people together and people make things happen. You should text him." Eugenia said teasingly in the voice of a slutty highschooler.

"I don't know. What if…?" Imelda replied with a tone highlighting little confidence.

"Shhhhh! What ifs hardly gets anyone laid, and sure as hell doesn't make anyone thrive in love. There are a thousand things that could go wrong, and a dozen that could go right, but in my experience, don't get to the bank before you cash your cheque. Go all the way, baby." Eugenia said in a calm motherly tone as she was very close to the edge of Imelda's bed.

"Right. Thank you, mum. You're the best." Imelda said with a bright smile that could make a rainbow jealous as she reached for her mum's hand.

"Anything for my baby girl. Send that text, ride that cock! That's how the song goes, right?" Eugenia said with a teenager's humour and trying to quote a hip hop star which she did wrongly but the laughter she initiated flooded the room.

"Oh, Jesus. Mum!" Imelda said as she laughed and shook her head in surprising disbelief of her mum's mature playfulness.

"All right, queen. I'm leaving. You've got this." Eugenia said as she tapped Imelda's feet twice before turning her back to leave the room.

Imelda stared at her phone for over twenty seconds after her mum had shut the door, and after a deep breath that felt like sorcery empowered confidence, she picked up her phone to send a message.

"Hey, Jason. Really nice seeing you today. About earlier, I've got a dozen play pants ready. You think you're still up for that tour?" She typed it, then reread it.

"Ewwwww.. mum, what have you done to me? No. No way we're sending this." Imelda said out loud to herself in disbelief of the mentally stimulating message she'd composed.

While she slipped into empty space thinking of how to rectify that text in the best possible way that was less sexual, she felt a tingling sensation in the middle of her toes, and in the middle of this shock and shaking, she hit the send button.

She hadn't realised what she'd done until she heard the whooshing notification of the sent message.

"What did you just do? Oh, now he's just gonna see you as some thirsty New York hooker who's desperate to get laid, and he's never gonna text you back." She talked to herself out loud as regrets and many questions roamed the streets of her mind.

Is this wild hit up to anything good?
