Chapter Eight

An awkward business-like breakfast

Ethan

She was so beautiful. My wife was so beautiful, I would never get tired obsessing over her good she looked. To make everything much better, that wasn't her only defining quality. There was so much more to her than beauty.

She was kind, hardworking, selfless and a very good friend to those she cared for. I couldn't even begin to name the number of charities she had secretly hosted, nor the one's she had donated to.

And yet she continuously worked as a secretary in quite a shabby library, with an even meager salary.

She wasn't as snobbish as the ladies of her standing were, nor was she selfish or spoiled. And yet, she had given herself to me, so willingly, without even holding back at all. Even though we were married, our union was only arranged, just like many others like ourselves.

So, considering this as part of marital duty wasn't a possible conclusion, since we had been married three years, and nothing of the sort had happened.

Besides, she had only consented for a night only. So why did she never stop me when I barged in, seeking for more, letting me take and take as much as I wanted?

Why?

It was only one word, but it held so much importance, and rang clear in my mind. I studied her face, committingg her features to memory. She was such a mystery to me, her intentions so unclear to me. If only I could read minds, because I was dying to know what was in hers.

I held a curl of her golden locks between my fingers, marveling at how they framed her doll like face. Even asleep, she managed to look serene and graceful.

She always managed to leave me amazed every time I set my eyes on her. It was one of the reasons I couldn't get my hands off her. And because of that, I had ravaged her like an animal last night. Because of that, her beautiful porcelain skin had been marked with numerous bruises and hickeys.

A raw urge to mark her more than once welled up inside me, but I restrained it. It was for the best if I didn't act on my impulses. I stroked a single bruise that had formed around her nipple with the tip of my finger. Even in her sleep, she twitched, responding to my touch.

I loved how she was so sensitive, always so responsive to my touch. I felt myself harden and deciding it was best to let her sleep, I rolled out of bed. The clock on her bedside glowed, showing it was only thirty minutes past six o'clock in the morning.

Normally, I would have already showed up at work, but I had decided it was best if I worked from home. I had taken a while without doing this, so it was best if I took this opportunity. Besides, like Betty always urged on, it was best if I took a much 'necessary' break.

Dialling a number, I rang up my butler, relaying my instructions to him. After that, I borrowed my wife's bathroom, taking a shower and refreshing up. Retrieving my overnight bag, I grabbed a pair of clothes and indoor slippers, Cologne and deodorant.

After I was done dressing up, I sat down with my laptop, deciding to work on a few projects as I waited. After thirty minutes, the bell on her apartment rang. I flung the door open, expecting to see my butler Simon, only to be greeted by the sight of the two people I least expected to see. And nor did I want to see them.

I contemplated shutting the door on their faces, but the fools had already made their way inside, shoving me aside as if they were welcome guests. I shut the door behind me, glaring at the two men as I found them making themselves comfortable.

"What the hell are you doing here? " They ignored me, continuing to sink in my wife's sofas. "I asked you a question, so you best make it quick and leave. "

"And good morning to you too, Mr. Sunshine. " One of them chirped, too cheerful for his own good.

"There's no need to be so rude. But first things first, when the hell were you going to let us know you were married? " The other echoed, in a much more serious tone. Of the twonhe was the more serious one.

"Where the hell did you get that information from? " My glare intensified, but the two remained unaffected.

"It's not like it was hard. We simply bullied one of your newer employees to tell us where you were. And once we dug up your marriage certificate, Simon had no choice but to tell us where exactly you were. Good job on hiding that marriage certificate. If it wasn't us, I'm sure no one would be able to find it. It sure did give us a good sweat. "

Sometimes, I was grateful for having identified the talent that these two extremely intelligent idiots had, but when it came to things like this, I seriously began to regret why. Since I was in no mood to squabble, I sat back done, choosing it was best if I concentrated on work.

"Do you think he was possessed by an alien or something. "

"Most definitely. He never really took off any time willingly. Remember, we once had to drag him because he was barely resting or sleeping. "

"Yeah, and sometimes we would just pray for him to get ill or something. Betty was the one that always managed to get him to rest. "

"Maybe she blackmailed him into it? Nah, he's too smart to fall into any woman's traps. "

I was a few moments away from committing murder. I was physically gritting my teeth. They were egging me on purpose, and it was basically working in their favor. "Do you two want to die? "

"Not me. I would very much like to keep my neck, not with the way you keep looking like you want to wring it."

"Same here. "

"Then I suggest you both shut up. Besides, where's my chef?"

"Right here." As if on cue, the chef walked in. I pointed him to the kitchen without hesitation. He already knew what to do.

Two hours later, my wife woke up, except that she had woken up angry. Her yell echoed thoughout the house, startling the two goons that had surprisingly made themselves useful throughout the projects.

"Ethan, where are you? It hurts going down the stairs and this is most definitely all your fault. "

I silently chuckled, knowing that if she found out we had company, she wouldn't be so happy about it. She stood at the top of the stairs, a blanket wrapped around her.

I walked up to her, clearing my throat. I wasn't sure how to begin. Nevertheless, I had to. " Wife, I would most definitely choose to keep your voice down."

" You can keep your opinions to yourself and shove them up your a**"

That was most definitely the wrong thing to say. She wasn't listening. Deciding it was best if I showed her myself, I lifted her in my arms, prioritizing her privacy. As soon as her eyes we're set on the two men sitting in her sofas, she threw an accusatory glance at me.

"I'm sorry. I didn't realize we would be having guests." She looked like she didn't believe me at all, so I added. "I promise I did not invite them. They just barged in. "

"Then why didn't you just say so? "

"I'm sorry. "

"Come on. I was waiting so we could have breakfast together. " She nodded. I ushered the chef in, letting him set the table. As soon as he was done, I filled her plate with eggs, toast and a slice of avocado and bananas.

"What about us? Aren't you going to serve us? "

"I couldn't care if you starved. "

Go on. Let me feed you. It's the least I can do. "

She blushed, averting her gaze from me. "I can't. Those two are staring a lot. "

Like she had said, the two idiots were indeed staring at her. They were ruining everything with their presence. "Avert your f**king eyes. "

"Alright. That's our que to leave. It was nice to meet you, Mrs. Henderson. "

"We look forward to meet you again. "

"Like hell you will. " I yelled after them, but I didn't miss the slight giggles from my wife. I was glad to know those two idiots weren't the only ones that drew amusement from my frustration.

Even though I didn't want to, I found myself smiling.

I laughed while writing this. Looking forward to knowing about these two later on.
