Under Watchful Eyes
Arriving early at work, thanks to Zayn taking the morning shift with the kids, I pass through the reception area and am taken aback by an unfamiliar face behind the desk.
I approach and introduce myself, extending a hand with a polite smile.
"Good morning, I'm not sure we've met. I'm Kattie. May I ask who you are?"
She returns the smile, albeit nervously, and replies…
"Hi, I'm Elise. I was just hired as the new receptionist."
Curious, I tilt my head slightly.
"Oh, that's interesting. We haven't completed our interviews yet. Can you tell me who hired you?"
My tone is friendly but carries an undertone of seriousness as I try to piece together how she was hired without going through the usual channels.
This unexpected hire raises questions about our hiring protocols and I'm keen to get to the bottom of it.
My eyebrows arch in surprise as Elise mentions,
