A poor girl born with congenital heart disease has not had much hope for the future, but her life takes a sharp turn when a wealthy, handsome man proposes marriage to her following her heart transplant. It was the most surprising thing to happen to her in her 22 years of life. Abigail had never thought that Christopher Sherman, a young, multibillionaire businessman, would approach her and express his desire to marry her. She was ecstatic and accepted his proposal. But little did she know that the 32-year-old handsome guy had a secret reason for wanting to marry her. Abigail stepped into his world with a lot of hope in her heart. But marrying him was not the happy ending. It was just the beginning. Will she be able to keep her heart from breaking? What will happen if she discovers his true motive? ============= "Life was easy before I married you," said Abigail with pain in her eyes. “I was dying, but I was happy.” “What do you mean?” Christopher clasped her arm. “Stop talking nonsense and eat the medicine,” he hissed, placing a tablet in her palm. Under his fiery gaze, Abigail cowered. "Do you find it difficult to meet my demand for a baby? It has been two years, Christopher." He didn’t answer her question. All he did was stare at her, acting mute. “Why do I feel like you don’t care about my feelings?” Abigail asked. “Don’t you love me?” His silence was the clear answer. ============= A special thanks to Aurora, my editor, for her helpful suggestions on how to improve the synopsis. The kiss was not as fierce as it had been previously. It was sweet, sensual, and arousing.
Abigail's body had already started to give in to him, but her mind was not ready for the sex. She wanted to know how he felt for her before going further.
She gently tapped him on the arm.
Christopher pulled back and frowned at her with surprise. "You don't like me to kiss you," he asked.
"I'd like to," she said, "but before that, I want to know why you left at the time. What was it that was bothering you? Would you mind telling me?"
Abigail waited for him to speak, but all he did was stare at her. When she didn't get his response, she realized he wasn't ready to share anything with her. She was depressed.
"It's all right. You don't have to tell me anything if you don't want to. We should sleep now. Good night."
She moved away a little. The next second, she was pulled back toward him, his arm around her waist.
