A poor girl born with congenital heart disease has not had much hope for the future, but her life takes a sharp turn when a wealthy, handsome man proposes marriage to her following her heart transplant. It was the most surprising thing to happen to her in her 22 years of life. Abigail had never thought that Christopher Sherman, a young, multibillionaire businessman, would approach her and express his desire to marry her. She was ecstatic and accepted his proposal. But little did she know that the 32-year-old handsome guy had a secret reason for wanting to marry her. Abigail stepped into his world with a lot of hope in her heart. But marrying him was not the happy ending. It was just the beginning. Will she be able to keep her heart from breaking? What will happen if she discovers his true motive? ============= "Life was easy before I married you," said Abigail with pain in her eyes. “I was dying, but I was happy.” “What do you mean?” Christopher clasped her arm. “Stop talking nonsense and eat the medicine,” he hissed, placing a tablet in her palm. Under his fiery gaze, Abigail cowered. "Do you find it difficult to meet my demand for a baby? It has been two years, Christopher." He didn’t answer her question. All he did was stare at her, acting mute. “Why do I feel like you don’t care about my feelings?” Abigail asked. “Don’t you love me?” His silence was the clear answer. ============= A special thanks to Aurora, my editor, for her helpful suggestions on how to improve the synopsis. As Jasper left, Abigail heaved a small sigh in relief. She was finally able to put a stop to the argument.
Christopher turned to her and held her hands. "Are you okay, Abigail? I'm sorry for getting so angry."
He, who had always struggled to say sorry, said the word effortlessly, and he was not aware of it.
Abigail nodded, trying to hide her anxiety and worry from him. Her eyes were still moist with tears. "I'm fine. I just want my mother to be okay."
Christopher could tell she was still distressed. He was aware that the argument had shaken her, and he regretted losing his temper. He just squeezed her hands gently.
"I know things are tough right now, but I'll do everything I can for your mother," he said, his voice gentle. "Your mother is a strong woman, a fighter. We just need to be strong for her."
He pulled her into a hug, holding her close as she rested her head on his chest. He whispered comforting words into her ear.
