A poor girl born with congenital heart disease has not had much hope for the future, but her life takes a sharp turn when a wealthy, handsome man proposes marriage to her following her heart transplant. It was the most surprising thing to happen to her in her 22 years of life. Abigail had never thought that Christopher Sherman, a young, multibillionaire businessman, would approach her and express his desire to marry her. She was ecstatic and accepted his proposal. But little did she know that the 32-year-old handsome guy had a secret reason for wanting to marry her. Abigail stepped into his world with a lot of hope in her heart. But marrying him was not the happy ending. It was just the beginning. Will she be able to keep her heart from breaking? What will happen if she discovers his true motive? ============= "Life was easy before I married you," said Abigail with pain in her eyes. “I was dying, but I was happy.” “What do you mean?” Christopher clasped her arm. “Stop talking nonsense and eat the medicine,” he hissed, placing a tablet in her palm. Under his fiery gaze, Abigail cowered. "Do you find it difficult to meet my demand for a baby? It has been two years, Christopher." He didn’t answer her question. All he did was stare at her, acting mute. “Why do I feel like you don’t care about my feelings?” Abigail asked. “Don’t you love me?” His silence was the clear answer. ============= A special thanks to Aurora, my editor, for her helpful suggestions on how to improve the synopsis. Samuel showed genuine concern in his eyes as he helped her to her feet. He removed his shirt and gently covered her exposed body. His kind gesture was a stark contrast to the violence that had taken place moments earlier.
"Are you okay?" he asked, keeping his voice as gentle as he could.
Elsa, her heart heavy with gratitude, nodded in response. If he had arrived a little late, those men would have raped her in front of her brother. She clutched the shirt tightly, using it to shield herself as much as possible, feeling vulnerable and exposed in front of Samuel.
Sensing Elsa's unease, Samuel swiftly shifted his attention to Jasper, who had been subjected to brutal abuse.
"Are you okay?" he asked, displaying a shared concern for their dire situation.
"Don't worry about me," said Jasper. "Hurry up and untie me. Check for the key in their pockets." He nodded to the men lying unconscious on the ground.
