The Billionaire's Sick Wife

A poor girl born with congenital heart disease has not had much hope for the future, but her life takes a sharp turn when a wealthy, handsome man proposes marriage to her following her heart transplant. It was the most surprising thing to happen to her in her 22 years of life. Abigail had never thought that Christopher Sherman, a young, multibillionaire businessman, would approach her and express his desire to marry her. She was ecstatic and accepted his proposal. But little did she know that the 32-year-old handsome guy had a secret reason for wanting to marry her. Abigail stepped into his world with a lot of hope in her heart. But marrying him was not the happy ending. It was just the beginning. Will she be able to keep her heart from breaking? What will happen if she discovers his true motive? ============= "Life was easy before I married you," said Abigail with pain in her eyes. “I was dying, but I was happy.” “What do you mean?” Christopher clasped her arm. “Stop talking nonsense and eat the medicine,” he hissed, placing a tablet in her palm. Under his fiery gaze, Abigail cowered. "Do you find it difficult to meet my demand for a baby? It has been two years, Christopher." He didn’t answer her question. All he did was stare at her, acting mute. “Why do I feel like you don’t care about my feelings?” Abigail asked. “Don’t you love me?” His silence was the clear answer. ============= A special thanks to Aurora, my editor, for her helpful suggestions on how to improve the synopsis. Adamant Christopher

"Abi… Please allow me to explain," Christopher requested with a pleading tone. "Open it."

Abigail leaned against the door, her hand on her mouth, afraid he would hear her sobs.

Christopher had the feeling that she was on the other side of the door, close to him. He put his palm against the doorframe, trying to feel her warmth.

"Please talk to me," he murmured. "Give me a chance to explain."

"I asked you several times why you married me," Abigail said with a breaking voice. "You could have told me. What is the point of explaining now? No matter what you say, it will look like a lie." She inhaled shakily and added, "Go away. I am not going to hear any of your explanations."

Her voice became stern in the end.

"Don't say that, Abi… Just once, listen to me."

Abigail threw herself on the bed and sobbed, burying her face in the pillow.
