Chapter 28

Myrah's POV

In no way was my life damaged. In fact, this cooperation created new prospects. I got to meet wonderful people like you, and being around people like you will help me succeed in life.

I stopped and inhaled deeply.

Yes, I realize it's difficult to marry a man who is madly in love with another woman, but I've learned to accept it, and I swear not to sabotage your son's upcoming union. I won't stand in their way. They ought to be content.

"And you, Myrah, too. You are free to try a relationship if you find someone you like and really want to be with. You only need to discuss it with me first. To me, you are like a daughter. I'm not going to let just anyone into your life and hurt your feelings."

"Really? So during this time I can fall in love with anybody I want?"

Oh, okay. I guess that wasn't as horrible as I thought.

"Yes, dear," he said, running his fingers across my cheek. We both looked at Valentino as he audibly cleared his throat.

"I believed the contract made it plain that she could not date anyone while we were still married. That was something her mother emphasized.

My mother undoubtedly anticipated that I would cause a commotion and end up fleeing for my true love. At least she was familiar with me.

After giving it some thought, I concluded that it was unfair. Why can't she have a boyfriend if you have a girlfriend? I will consult Flavia. There is no doubt about this. In this marriage, she enjoys the same freedoms as you do. Okay, Myrah?

Yes. I wholeheartedly responded, "That's very true, and I agree with you," and I could see Valentino shaking his head.

Val? You two agree, right? Julius turned to face his son, who appeared to be adamantly opposed to the notion.

What if she detonates everything? Once she begins dating a guy, everything is possible. What if she decides to go suddenly?

"I won't."

We are never certain.

"I assure you that I won't do it. It will be a secret, and nobody will know."

You may never be able to tell what the guy wants. What if he demands attention?

"For crying out loud, I'm not even in a relationship yet!" I let out an angry yell.

He angrily argued, examining my face as if to terrify me, "I'm just stating the possibilities!"

What on earth had happened to him?

"Valentino Alexander, what's the specific issue you're having here?" Julius inquired.

Dad, nothing. I only want to maintain our good name.

"Myrah is dependable." She won't set anything on fire.

He insisted, I'm still against the notion.

I snapped, glaring at Valentino, "I think you should make the final decision here if your son keeps on disagreeing with everything you say and makes me seem unreliable."

Valentino responded, aiming daggers at me, "I think we should just forget about this whole thing and act like it never happened."

"If I can't date, then that makes the two of us."

"Exactly. Val: Fascinating, huh? Julius said, "Let's hear what you have to say."

He appeared to like seeing me spar with his insane kid, who didn't want me to be content.

That is complete madness. I can't sacrifice two years of my romantic life for a one-year arrangement.

Let me just be, please. I'll live my life while you live yours. We will follow your father's advice unless you can provide me with a good explanation why I shouldn't date. Responsibility is not a sufficient defense since I am entitled to a chance to demonstrate my worth. Give me a good reason, please.

I was genuinely intrigued by this debate. Never before had I been so interested in a debate. He seemed like he wanted to rip me apart, but I loved the anger on his face. The same thing was what I desired to do.

"Give me a few days to present my case. I'll back up all of my claims."

Sure, our agreement will be reached in fourteen days. I don't know why you are making this easy matter complicated, Val, but you are free to act however you like for the purpose of justice. There will be no dialogue if you can't support your position with evidence after only fourteen days.

Valentino was simply unattainable. He would have done whatever it took to undermine me and spoil my happiness. What debate was he even bringing up?

"Agreed," Valentino said, grinning and yelling how happy he was.

"Myrah?" Turning to me, Julius questioned ordinarily, I'd feel awkward debating someone in front of their parents, but Julius made me feel at ease. He was an independent man.

I sighed, "Agreed." I was not going to let Valentino Alexander win. I had to make up with him for everything, and I also desired some genuine romance. It was high time I entered into a committed relationship.

Perfect. On a different note, Myrah, you will be joining the company as of tomorrow. Since you and Kyle work in the same department, it ought to be simple for you. Despite the fact that he is usually very busy, he will be there for you and Val as well.

I appreciate you very much. I swear to put in a lot of effort. I won't disappoint you.

We believe you. Val, did she correctly inform you that I would be staying for a few days? I decided to visit for a while because my penthouse can become very lonely at times.

Sure, why not? We're delighted to have you here.

Yeah. He might be able to protect me from his difficult son. Even after a whole month, I was still unable to identify him. He had several pleasant surprises.

"I'm happy." I have a sense that this year will be beautiful. We appreciate your presence in our lives. I'll get ready by going upstairs. I'll be right with you for lunch. Please invite Regina and Martha to join us. As he stood up, he said, "The more the merrier," to which Valentino appropriately responded.

We both watched him go until we were entirely alone. When I turned to face Valentino, he grinned at me. He had the audacity to insult me.

What specifically bothers you about me, Valentino Alexander?

Myrah Paris Dante: nothing. Is it wrong that I enjoy seeing the worst in you? Who would have thought you could debate this much?

You are a scumbag. This conflict is not over yet. I'll triumph despite all odds.

We'll investigate that. Right now, I'm picturing you with some random guy. A nightmare and a horror film

Then I'll wager that you're also imagining us having naughty sex on a table, with me yelling and moaning loudly while the other man shamelessly beats me. He laughed extremely hard after I spat. That was funny, especially coming from someone like me, but at least he understood what I was trying to say.

So I realize that this is all about retaliation. You became so enraged that you removed your wedding band. You probably just wanted to kill me. Did you prefer to be seated at the table rather than Caylee?

Why sit on an uncomfortable table when there is a bed? That is so awful.

But you seemed to like my touch. Don't say to me, "I've only had sex with you on a bed, and when have you last been hit?"

Lord, what sort of maniac was I given? I seized a cushion and gave him a solid smack in the face. I stomped up, enraged.

"Valentino Alexander, I detest you.

"You are also loved, Princess."

If only he had intended it.
