*Lila’s POV*
There were fewer things more awkward than taking a car ride in the back seat while your ex rode shotgun and the person you were mutually blackmailing since he guilt tripped you into lying to your boyfriend, was driving.
The fact that it was a necessary sacrifice didn’t make things any better either.
We needed Max’s help, as unwilling and forced as it was, even if he was leading us into the biggest trap of the century.
This whole thing reeked of a setup, but we were desperate, and the person who set the trap probably knew we would be.
Was it the mercenaries though, or was it Zara? Who was the woman who told Max about the shifters? Would Zara really expose them like that, or was it someone else?
These were all questions without answers that I’d usually be looking into, but time wasn’t on our side. Twenty-four hours was a long time to be kidnapped and missing, and Mia and Luna had been gone for DAYS.
