Chapter 8

Czarielle didn't expect the formal party to be like that--elegant looking, extravagant and it's venue is on one of the fancy and expensive hotel in the whole country owned by Vanderveide Co. Named LHV Hotel.

The receptionist and other hotel staff are dressed like an ordinary party guest---wearing identical white, simple, above the knee gown for women and black tuxedo for men.

The whole place we're covered with big crystal chandeliers which looks like a teardrop shape, the red and gold window drapes can be seen all over the party hall--from the window panes, chair and table cloth and specially on the name tags per table.

The tables are positioned encircling the spacious dance floor with different flower arrangements and a disco lights illuminated a certain part of the party hall.

As she and the company son's owner walk around, the employees and other staff are greeting them politely. Most of the women--even if they are in twenties, thirties or forties are swarming like bees around Laxton Hendrix. The men are just nodding at him with respect or offering a shake hands.

Surpringly, Czarielle was amused as he knew almost all the staff's name. He called them in first name basis.

So, he's hands on to their business? I taught he might not know all of them since Vanderveide Co has a lot of business like chains of hotel and casino, chains of restaurants--having authentic korean, Italian, french and spanish cuisines and real estate business as their subsidiaries.

And during their short trip checking if everything are settled for the party, this CEO's right arm is resting on her waist. She felt awkward since he didn't even introduced her to them. Their eyes are questioning him silently on what is her relationship with their boss. She knew that they can't ask him directly that's why she asked him about it when they sit on their designated table--that's when his arms leave her waist.

"Your employees are wondering about our relationship through their eyes. They can't ask you directly, of course, you're their boss and you might fire them up."

A waiter came by and she got a glass of whiskey with cherry on top from him. She sip on the drink while having an eye contact with Laxton Hendrix.

"I don't need to explain myself to everyone. What's important is we bought know the real score between us, right?" His left eye brow raised and he swallow his vodka in one shot.

"Hey, take it easy! We still have a.long way to go. The party hasn't started just yet. You need to say something before the party starts, remember?"

"Wow, Czarielle! Are you getting concerned for me, now? That's the first, I believe!" He put down the empty glass on a tray when a waiter comes on their way and got a new one.

"Correction, it's not the first time of you'll gonna count from the first time we've met. And for your information, I didn't mean anything about being concerned about you. I just don't want you to be humiliated in front of these people. If you'll be wasted, how am I able to came back on our photo studio? I don't want to walk for a few hours wearing this revealing dress that you had paid for! Also with this heels, I don't want to have blisters around my ankles so I better stick with making you think straight." She rolled her eyes.

"Well, for your information too, I have a high alcohol tolerance in drinking vodka. I can drink a aminimun of ten long neck bottles alone even without ice and I can still drive straight to our house without any trouble. You should be the one looking out for your self, not mine because I can handle myself. Thanks for the concern, though."

The lights turned off and a spot light open up on their table across the make shift stage.

"Please welcome, Mr. Laxton Hendrix Vanderveide for giving his initial speech before the party starts!" The emcee urged the people around them to clap while waiting for him to come up to the stage.

He eyed her, silently asking if she'll be okay leaving the table for a while. She just nodded and slightly pushed him to walk towards the stage.

When he starts to give his speech, Czarielle took that opportunity to go to the bathroom. She felt the urge to pee while he's away. He might wait for her outside the bathroom and she didn't want his employees to think that she's his girlfriend.

"Blah, blah, blah." She's silently imitating his speech on her mind as she flush down the toilet and walk towards the sink to wash her hands.

An elegant looking lady uses the sink next to her. Her dress is in maroon color, almost the same color as black when the light struck on the dress full of crystals and sequins. Her big breast is almost showing off on the V neck of the gown, highlighting her slim waist and legs with a high slit on both thighs.

Czarielle would not check her out if she didn't hear Laxton's name on the woman's phone conversation. She intentionally slows down washing her hands, trying to eavesdrop on them since the call is on speak phone.

"Hey, Tarzy! Did you finally see Laxton Hendrix? One of my socialite friends told me he's still a bachelor until now! Maybe he's still waiting for you! You're one hell of a lucky girl!"

"Well, I don't want to assume it until I saw him tonight. I usually saw him from a far for the last couple of years and he always don't bring a date with him. Or if he has a date, I'll snatched him to her! Haha! He can't say no to me even wayback on our college days." The woman smiled widely.

Czarielle repeatedly wash her hands, not thinking that she had wasted so much water already.

"You better update me later on what will be the improvement this time, girl! I'll be up all night and I'll wait for your call!"

As of on that cue, Czarielle turn off the faucet and marched out of the bathroom.

"So, that jerk had a girlfriend? Is the reason why he didn't want to have one is because he's waiting for her to come back? So weird. If that's me, I won't wait for a few years." She dumped the hand tissue in a trash bin outside after she finished wiping her hands.

"I told you not to talk to yourself! Are you crazy, woman? Geez!"

Czarielle eyes him from head to toe. There is the daredevil. No wonder the woman looks like head over heels with him is because he got attractive looks, money and connections. She snorted.

Laxton Hendrix is leaning on the men's room across her. Like what she had think about, he's waiting for her to come out of the bathroom.

"You should wait for me at our table. I told you, I don't want to walk alone wearing these!" She waved her hand on front of the man who looks like a statue. His eyes are diverted to at her back.

"Oh, hell. There goes the crazy woman!" She whispered to herself but she make sure that Laxton Hendrix would hear it.

"Katarzyna Reneece Miramontes?" He uttered in surprise as his mouth was left wide open.
