Chapter 2

Laxton Hendrix woke up with the sound of a fire alarm. He quickly get his suitcase and run towards his secretary who is sitting on his desk with his feet on the table.

He glared at him with his squinted eyes but he just took a glance at him and shrugged.

"You woke up five minutes late with the alarm I have set up. Looks like you're in deep slumber because of the blind date, boss?" He smirked.

"I hate you, Bill! Why did you set up a fire alarm instead of the normal smart display's ringtone?" He straighten his crumpled polo shirt a little while at the waist side.

"I did. You're not able to wake up on the regular alarm tone that's why I had to customize the ringtone. You're awake so I am successful to wake you up!" He gave him a bouquet of white tulips.

"Thanks, anyway. After four, if I'm not back yet, you may leave early. Why do I need to give white tulips today?" His face is distorted when he got the bouquet from Bill.

"White tulips means you're saying sorry. You're silently saying sorry in advance because I know what you'll do on your date. So better yet, gave that to the poor woman."

Laxton chuckled. "That's a good idea! You should order the same flowers in the future for my dates. Ciao!"

With a half smirk on his face, he walked down the hallway. Some of the employees are bowing on him but most of them, they wave their hand or he waves his hand as a gesture of seeing a long time acquaintance.

Honestly, he's not used to his position yet. It's been four months since he was promoted but he cannot get used to it.

He just set foot on the parking lot when his phone beep. He was bombarded with his mother's texts.

Why are late, son? You're date is already there! Can't you drive faster?

I clearly told you to go on the date! Don't make me embarrassed!

I know you're schedule, Laxton Hendrix! Don't ever come up with an excuse to not appear on the restaurant address I texted you!

He put the phone in the holder and dialed his mother's number right away. He didn't have the time to open all of her text right now. Maybe it will be a great use later.

"Hey, mom! Relax will you? I'm on my way to the place. Thanks for the reminder."

Margarita sigh on the other line. "Good! I can breathe peacefully now."

"I need to hang up now. I'm already late. See you at home!"

With a briefcase on the right hand and a bouquet of flowers on the left, he slowly walk towards one of the restaurant's staff to confirm his reservation. It's a good thing that his mom always put the reservation on his name.

The usher lead him to the table near which is on the corner, looks like a private table for VIP's.

His eyes met a long, shiny, black hair that flows up to the woman's shoulders. It made him stop on his tracks, made him rethink on the nasty things he already planned to do.

Do I need to humiliate this lady with a beautiful hair?

Yes, you did! You already planned this. If you back out, you're a coward!

Then the woman suddenly gaze backwards. Her eyes looks like a doll's eyes with light green color. Her face looks like a Korean actress since the make up perfectly fits her.

I wonder how she looked without make up...

No choice, he walk towards her and gave her the flowers. After she held those flowers, he swiftly put his suit case in the chair next to him. The woman was mesmerized by his looks. She cannot get her eyes off him from the time he saw her.

"Thank you for the flowers. I really appreciate it! I'm Carmina and you're Laxton, right?"

"Just call me Hendrix. I prefer to be called by that name. Do you want me to order for you? If you don't mind." He smiled a little bit, showing off his deep dimples in right cheek. It was his asset that every woman can't take no for an answer.

"Sure!"

Carmina raised her hand and when a waiter came in, he murmured his thanks to her.

"My usual order please. Make a special one for her."

"The usual special order, sir?"

He nodded in dismay. He didn't want to repeat what he said twice but he still smiled.

Carmina is very talkative. He doesn't need to start the conversation on his own. All he did is to pretend he's listening and a little bit of showing his dimples did it!

When the order came in--which are grilled, spicy, sirloin steak for her and a regular grilled beef steak for him with orange juice and two glass of water, he secretly handed two thousand on the waiter that gives him an okay sign a few meters away from them. He even saw the waiter shrugged his shoulders to hide his laughter.

When Carmina had a spoonful of the steak, he said his famous line.

"My mom and are always having lunch together in this restaurant when we are not busy with our schedules. That's why I ordered the menu she always wants to eat."

Carmina choked.

He handed her a glass of water and intentionally slip his hand with the glass full of water towards the front her black, designers dress.

"F*ck! This dress cost a fortune and its the first time I used this! Why are you so clumsy? You should have been more careful!" She got her black clutch bag, run to the restroom without further ado.

Laxton guffawed. He cannot hide the loud and boisterous laugh. Other dinners glared at him but he didn't even care to glance at them.

Actually, he knew why she had choked by just a tiny piece of grilled spicy steak! His line makes his date thinks that he's a Mama's boy and they don't want to have a boyfriend like that.

Yes, her parent's business associates thinks of him that way but he's actually not. He usually give favors to her mom only on setting up his blind dates but in his other life aspects? He always decide for himself.

He may look like but he's really not a mama's boy.

As expected, Carmina is still fuming with anger after she got back on her seat.

"Sorry, I need to end our date today. I had an urgent appointment that I need to attend to. We can continue this later, right? Just call me and I'll make time for you." She gave him a flying kiss, slipped a business card on his front polo pocket and did a quick tap on his shoulder before she walked out.

As if I will call you! I wouldn't! Never!

He counted thirty on his mind before he called Billy from his personal phone.

"Woah! You got rid of her in just thirty minutes? The last date you had, it lasted forty five minutes."

"Do I need to shorten the time to twenty minutes? I can try a different strategy to do that." He chuckled.

"Just bring me a take out food for my compensation. I'm famished since you didn't let me eat while you're sleeping in the office earlier!"

"I didn't forbid you to take lunch. I just took a sleep earlier!" He drank half of the orange juice and leave some bills below the plates.

"Yeah, you didn't. But I blocked all the appointments of the clients who wants to talk to you until before your date! You should get me a bagel as a compensation at least!"

"Fine! I'll just let you use my credit card tomorrow for lunch. Have a date with your girlfriend in a fancy restaurant and don't take out foods! Just buy what you can eat!"

"Deal. Can I get off work then?"

"Yes. See you at home as early as five thirty tomorrow. I have a breakfast appointment with an advertising agency and you need to wake me up."

"Can't you just get married and let you're wife wakes you? If I am a girl, my family would think that I'll be you're wife!"

"The deal is off then. You don't need to come to work tomorrow. You're fired!"

"Just joking, boss! I'll be there at exactly five. See you!"

He signaled waiter to go to their table for the bill before he get down to the parking lot and drove off with his latest 2021 Edition Yellow Ferrari.
