Chapter 19
They went inside after they arrived.
She went over to the fridge and took a bottle of water.
He asked, "How are you feeling?"
She responded, "I'm alright."
He approached her, grabbed her waist, and drew her in close.
He kissed her and said, "So, are you looking forward to finding out the gender tomorrow?"
She said, "I am!
"I hope it's a girl."
He said, "Yeah, me too.
"She'll be as pretty as her mother."
She smiled, and he kissed her.
They went upstairs to check on Kathy and Darla before taking a shower and going to bed.
THE FOLLOWING DAY...
Alayna got up and prepared to find out the gender of her baby.
Dominique, along with Junior, was waiting for her outside.
She approached them as Junior said, "Hey sunshine, are you excited?"
She responded, "Like hell I am Junior!
"Are you going with us?"
He responded, "I wish I could, but duty calls; please notify me as soon as you receive the results."
Before getting in the car, she smiled and hugged him.
Dominique spoke with Junior before getting into the car and driving away.
On the way, he said to her, "I forgot to tell you, one of my friends is having a party later.
"I'm invited.
"I was hoping to go together."
She said, "We can, babe.
"I wouldn't want to miss a party!"
He laughed and said, "I know you wouldn't."
They arrived, entered the building, and waited for the sonographer to arrive so the ultrasound could happen.
When the woman arrived, she was eager to get started.
She said to Alayna, "Your boyfriend is very handsome."
She smiled and said, "I get that a lot."
The sonographer said, "Let's get started."
As she began the procedure and moved the transducer around her tummy, she unexpectedly said to Alayna, "Do you see that?
"You're having twin girls, congrats!"
Alayna said, "Huh?
"Twins?!
"Oh, my God!"
He responded, "That's amazing!"
She smiled as she looked at the sonogram, and tears welled up in her eyes.
She couldn't wait to tell Delicia the news.
She called her after they finished to inform her of the news.
Delicia informed the other girls, who were all happy and excited.
Junior was excited when he heard also.
They returned home while Kathy and Darla awaited news.
They both stood up and approached them when they entered the house.
Kathy asked, "Are you going to share the news?
"I'm excited already."
Alayna said, "It's a girl!
"Two!"
Kathy responded, "Twins!
"Oh, my God!
"I can't wait to meet them!"
Darla said, "Am I going to have two babies to play with?
"Wow, so cool!"
They laughed.
Dominique said, "By the way, you girls will have free time to do whatever you want when my maid returns next week."
Alayna said, "That's great!
"I can't wait to meet her!"
Kathy looked at her as she smiled.
She walked away and headed up to her room.
She relocated to Dominique's bedroom, so she took a shower and napped.
She awoke at around 5:00 p.m. to prepare for the party.
In search of a dress to wear, she rushed to her closet.
She does her hair and make-up first, then gets ready.
Dominique approached her when she was finished and said, "You look hot!
"God damn, I want to eat you right now."
As she adjusted his tie, she smirked.
"Keep that thought for later."
They both turned to face the mirror as he stood beside her and laughed.
He said, "I can't believe we're having twins.
"Mom and dad are both excited like everyone else."
She said, "I know.
"I wish my mom and dad were alive.
"Given that, she would have taken them to raise them!
"I am certain my mother would have gone insane hearing about twin granddaughters."
He held her face and said, "She's going to be so proud of you.
"I wish I could have gotten the chance to meet her."
He received a warm embrace from her and was held for a while before she let go.
They both exited the room.
She checked on Darla and Kathy before leaving.
Dominique started the car as soon as they got in.
It takes roughly 45 minutes to get to the party.
He parked his car and exited, holding her hand as they made their way to the door.
All eyes were on them as they arrived.
Alayna whispered to him, "They're staring at us!"
He said, "Everyone finds it strange seeing me with a girl.
"You've got my heart, darling."
She laughed as they headed over to Dominique's friend.
"Dom!
"It's good to see you made it."
Dominique said, " I couldn't miss it.
"Congrats on your new position."
He responded, "Thanks, man.
"Who's this pretty lady?"
Dominique said, "This is my fiance, Alayna."
The guy responded, "Shit!
"Was I sleeping on you?
"I didn't know you got a girl now."
He extended a hand to Alayna and said, "I'm Xavier.
"It's a pleasure meeting the woman that steals my homeboy's heart."
Alayna smiled and responded, "It's nice to meet you, Xavier."
She nodded in agreement when Dominique requested her to excuse them for a moment.
A female approached her as she walked over to the waiter to take a glass filled with champagne.
Before Alayna could pick it up, she snatched the glass and exclaimed, "That's expensive.
"It's a rich girl's choice.
"I don't think you have quite the taste."
Alayna looked at her and asked, "Did you draw those brows on with your niece's sharpie?
"They seem darker than my past."
Alayna took another glass and walked away.
She followed Alayna and said, "You have a lot of courage to come in here and insult me.
"I presume you're one of Dominique's whores.
"He is so preoccupied that he doesn't even have time to choose the proper female.
Alayna said, "I'm more than one of his whores."
She responded, "At least we've all fucked the same cock.
"You're not special."
Rolling her eyes, Alayna turned to walk away.
Dominique was moving toward her.
He asked, "What's wrong?"
She said, "You should have told me I'd have to deal with sarcastic bitches."
Before she could continue, the female approached them and addressed Dominique, "Hey, big daddy, it's been a while."
He turned and said, "Oh hey, Marie.
"It's been a while, indeed."
She responded, "You miss me?
"I do.
"I was wondering if we'll meet up later."
Dominique said, "What are you doing?
"Quit the bullshit, Marie."
Marie said, "There's no bullshit.
"It must be the alcohol making me miss that big cock of yours.
Alayna got angry and said, "Bitch If you don't move your worn-out ass from in front of him, you, I, and those fucking Nike logos beneath your forehead are about to go down the fucking road tonight.
"I swear to god."
Alayna pushed her away and said, "Don't make me have to drag you by those cheap fucking ponytail extensions.
"Get your damaged, useless ass away from him!"
Everyone turned around to look.
She stood in shock as Dominique held Alayna and said, "Calm down, baby.
"No need to drag her.
Marie looked at them both and rolled her eyes, and walked away.
As she moved to a different part of the room, Alayna stood there and watched her.
Alayna turned around and said to him, "The women you've had your flings with are fucking crazy!"
He laughed and said, "I'm not sure who stood up for me there—you or my girls."
When she turned around and heard a spoon tapping against a glass, she focused on Xavier.
Xavier said, Thank you all for being here tonight.
"I hope you're having fun!
"Don't get too drunk!"
Everyone laughed as he continued, "Yeah, I have a friend proposing to his beautiful fiancée tonight!
"This woman is amazing.
"She means everything to him, but the question is!
"Will she say yes?"
He pointed in Alayna's direction as everyone turned around.
She whirled around to see who the couple were and gasped, covering her mouth with her hands.
On one knee, Dominique is proposing to her.
She said, "Babe, Oh my god!
"Are you serious?"
He said to her, "I am,
"Alayna, words can't explain how much you mean to me.
"You're amazing, and I want to be with you for the rest of my life.
"Will you marry me?"
She smiled while wiping away tears and replied, "Yes!
"Yes! I will marry you!"
He put the ring on her finger and stood.She hugged and kissed him.
Everyone cheered and applauded.
After the proposal, they spent a few minutes at the party and decided to leave.
After saying goodbye to Xavier, Dominique left the party with Alayna.
