Chapter Five:You Are Barren.

In the kick off of the event, Amrita, Giovanni's mother had managed to keep on a smile on her face while deeply within her she was heartbroken.

If one could stand still and followed the trail of where her eyes were stationed, then they would find out that she was watching her Nephew, Diego, making himself useful on this day that meant a lot to his grandfather.

Unlike his parents, who were a total douchebag, Diego grew up differently and it's not a wonder why he was called the smile keeper of the family. He knew how well to attend to people, in short, Diego was perfect.

Amrita saw him help the old women to their seats, while his grandfather was busy attending to the men, while they're wives were with Diego. Once in a while, she will watch grandfather stare at her and shake his head at her in disappointment.

It brought tears to her eyes that unlike how much care she gave to her own son, he turned out different than everyone had expected.

Giovanni was the blacksheep of the family, while Diego was loved by everyone. It didn't sound right comparing her son to him, but when all he did was bring nothing but a cluster of trouble to the family everyday, what do you expect her to say?

Amrita smiled at Diego, who waved at her from where he was and didn't know when she had another company with her, until she heard her speak.

"He's so perfect, isn't he?" Joanna asked, with folded hands while she stood besides her sister in-law. People call it luck that was on her side that her son was amazing, whereas Amrita would have to put up with the daily shame of having to put up with her son's chivalrous lifestyle.

"It's still such a wonder that no matter how hard you try, Giovanni would never be able to be at his level."She added with a smile, then moved up to collect a drink from the waiter that passed by."Do you want some piece of advice, i would gladly love to help you out with Giovanni."

"Stop it." Amrita said calmly, she knew what she's trying to do. Joanna was trouble and the best thing she could do right now was to avoid having any discussion with her. She shouldn't give her the attention she needed. But then her next statement wored her patience out.

"Don't you get it, Amrita. People talk about him everyday, and do you know what they see him as? A failure, Amrita, he shouldn't have been born into this household. The Russo family has high expectation.."

"Stop it, Joanna." Amrita said through gritted teeth, everyone passing by didn't know what was happening and her husband, Edward was not in sight to stop this before it escalates into something else.

"Or what?" Joanna dared her, stepping closer to raise the wine in her hand and started to rain it down on her.``I heard you wouldn't be able to carry a baby anymore, so that means you are barren."

"I said stoppp!!" Amrita screeched before shoving Joanna real hard that she fell to the ground, with a thud while she stood above her heaving heavily.

"I told you to stop, what's wrong with you?" Amrita asked, before she moved forward and grabbed her by her hair. She forgot about etiquette, and so about where they were.

Joanna called for this, she could have stopped when she told her too. But then, she called her a barren woman. What sort of woman does that to her fellow woman?

But the clicking sounds of the camera that went off, dragged her attention back to where they were, and she stilled for a moment, while Joanna smirked when she noticed that finally she had everyone's attention.

"What's going on here??" The thunderous sound of an angry, Mr. Christopher was heard and Joanna put her good acting skills to use.

"My stomach!" She cried, holding onto her flat tummy, and that was when Amrita understand why exactly she could her a barren woman.

She's pregnant.

How could she be pregnant, and tried to instigate a fight between them?

"Joanna!" Micheal called his wife, concerned.

"Amrita!" Edward stepped forward towards the commotion to see his wife ontop pf a crying Joanna.

The nosy reporters were still taking pictures, and that made him see red as much as it angered his old man. But the securities arrived to start vacating everyone from the arena.

The event has been ruined.

"Mother." Diego called, and ran to where they were. She was crying.

"What have you done?"Micheal bellowed in anger, as he tried to touch Amrita but Edward was in time to hold his hands.

"Touch her and i will kill you?" Edward earned, the two brothers were glaring at each other and it didn't pass the eyes of the others that were still here.

Even the reporter's were able to capture how dire this situation was, the old man had to step in.

"What do you both think you are doing?" He asked, as his personal secretary pushed the both of them away before Micheal went to help Joanna up, but as usual she's doing everything possible to make the old man hate Amrita just like she's receiving the same treatment every day."Are you alright?

"What happened here, Juliana?"

Joanna nearly laughed when she heard the old man talk to her, as if he couldn't see that Amrita was all over her moments ago.

"Baby, what happened?" Edward asked Amrita, pulling close to touch her but she yank his hands away.

"Don't touch me!" Amrita spat before leaving the arena, she didn't care about what her father in-law would say about her actions. But she needed to leave there before she breaks down.

"Seriously, father. You need to do something about her, she nearly killed our child."Micheal announced, and that stunned everyone.

"Child?" Diego asked in surprise, he stepped forward to his mother with a smile He was going to have a sibling?

"Yes son, you are going to have a new brother." Joanna told him, while waiting for the old man to say something but all he did was call on his assistant.

"Make sure Joanna arrives safely to the hospital, Edward?" The old man called him, before leaving.

"Congratulation, the both of you." Edward said sincerely, before following after his father as he went out to tidy up the distraction that happened here that ruined the new opening of the public hospital.

Whereas Micheal and Joanna had this angry look on their face, but anyway it was a win for them seeing that Amrita, would take the blame for the rumors that would start from having ruined the old man's business.

"Ma'am, the car is ready."Joe, the head assistant told Joanna, but in return she  glared at him in anger.

"I'm fine." She snapped.

"Mother, you need to…" Diego went forward to urge his mother, but she snapped at him too, making Joe leave immediately.

"Can you just stop it, I just want to leave." She said before leaving, while Micheal patted his son's shoulder.

"Drop the act, Diego. It's annoying your mother." Micheal advised, and before a twinkle of an eye. Diego scoffed, before taking a handkerchief from his pockets to clean his hands.

"Those grannies reek of poverty, father. Until when do i have to continue to play nice?" He asked his father, as he loosened his tie in frustration.

"Until we destroy Goivanni's reputation to the mud, until then continue being the good kid you are." Micheal patted his cheek, then said." Let's go, the party is over."
