CHAPTER 27

Hedy was not an ungrateful person. Given the circumstances, she smiled at Timothy, who had a wide grin on his face. She expressed her gratitude in a pleasant tone, "Mayor Freeman, thank you for making this trip."

"You're too kind. It's my duty." Timothy was happier than if he had won millions of lottery tickets at this moment.

Timothy had arranged for someone to be stationed at the school early on to keep an eye on Hedy at all times. Any slight movement that happens to her, he would be the first to know. So far, his arrangement had been effective.

"Miss Turner, if you encounter any problems in the future, feel free to contact me." Timothy successfully gave out his business card, continuing, "And you're always welcome to visit my home."

On his way to the teacher's office to pick up some materials, the school hunk, Alex Sanders, ran into Timothy, who was leaving the school.

"Mr. Foster?"

Alex's father was the deputy mayor. Their families had always maintained a good relationship. Alex had always respected Timothy.

However, the children of the two families—Alex and Zack—didn't get along.

"Alex." Timothy was in such a good mood that he walked over and patted Alex on the shoulder with a big smile on his face.

"Mr. Foster, what brings you here? Are you here for an inspection?" Alex was curious about the reason that made Timothy so happy.

"Yes, it's something related to work. Hmm… You're also in your senior year, do you know…" Timothy stopped mid-sentence, as if he had thought of something.

Alex probed, "Know who?"

"Argh, never mind. It's nothing."

Initially, Timothy wanted to ask Alex to look after Hedy for him. They were of the same age and schoolmates. Moreover, Alex was doing well at school. Hedy would definitely be happy to have him around. But then, if Alex got close to Hedy, he would go from being the mayor to the deputy mayor.

He was so happy that he had become confused.

That was close! I almost ruined my own future.

He suddenly remembered that he had a son. Zack was a bit of a misfit, not doing well in school, having a bad temper, and generally not doing well in anything.

But if his son could win Hedy's heart, that would be enough.

At this point, Timothy was unaware that his son, who had received instruction from Danny and was incompetent in every way, was searching for Hedy all over the school.

"I have to go now. I'm rushing to the Education Bureau. You should focus on your studies."

Alex felt puzzled as he watched Timothy, who was laughing and talking with his assistant.

Then the broadcast echoed in the air.

"Hello students, I'm your principal. I'm here to clarify something."

The teachers immediately asked the students to listen to the broadcast quietly.

Hedy Turner, a student from Class 8 of Senior Three in our school, scored full marks in yesterday's math exam but was accused of cheating by her math teacher. After an investigation, it was proven that Hedy was wrongly accused. The score has been corrected. Hedy's actual score is 150. Hereby, I, Leonard Wood, on behalf of myself and the school, formally apologize to Hedy…"

Alex stopped in his tracks and looked in the direction of the broadcast station.

After the principal apologized, another person followed. "I'm Hedy's math teacher, Alger Shepherd."

After the math teacher chased Hedy out of the classroom, the students in Class 8, who were left unattended, all eagerly listened to the commotion outside.

Everyone wanted to see what kind of trouble Hedy would be in.

After waiting for a whole class period, Hedy didn't return with a defeated look, and the math teacher had gone. Instead, they heard from students in other classes that several school leaders had gone to the principal's office and held some sort of meeting.

They guessed that it must be about Hedy's cheating and couldn't help but admire Hedy's courage to barge into the principal's office.

Even if she ended up being asked to bring her parents or faced more serious consequences, her bravery at this moment was admirable enough.

Therefore, when the principal's apology was broadcast, all the students in Class 8 were shocked. They all doubted whether their ears were playing tricks on them.

After a brief and eerie silence, the class erupted into chaos, completely out of control.

The loud discussion drowned out the teacher's voice as he banged on the podium to calm the class.

"Holy cow! Can someone tell me what Hedy has done?"

"Hedy is amazing. Mr. Leonard is such a strict and petty man, but she managed to make him apologize to her in front of the whole school. This achievement is absolutely unprecedented and will never be repeated. If it were me, I would record this in my family history as a great honor."

"Does anyone know what happened in the principal's office? I'm willing to pay a month's breakfast money for that juicy gossip."

"How did she accomplish that?"

"Hedy scored full marks? Haha! This is definitely the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard."

Compared to the timid Hedy barging into the principal's office and ultimately making the principal and teachers apologize to her, the shock of the seemingly unintelligent Hedy scoring a perfect mark was equally unbelievable.

"She scored 150? I heard from Kayla that she left the examination room after twenty minutes. Can someone tell me how she managed to finish the paper and score full marks in such a short time? Even copying from an answer sheet would need more time than that."

"The principal claimed that an investigation had proven it. What kind of investigation? Did they check the surveillance?"

"Not sure, but I just saw the cop, so…."

"Can Hedy tell me how to perfectly cheat without being caught by surveillance and the cop? I'm a poor student who doesn't do well in my studies and desperately needs this trick."

"As Hedy's classmate for nearly three years, her intelligence tells me that it's impossible for her to score 150. But the principal and the math teacher had personally clarified this, along with the cops that just left. All of these facts confirm that she indeed scored a full mark. The only possible explanation is that this is a supernatural event."

"Impossible! There's no way my dim-witted sister could score full marks." Kayla was the most emotional.

When she learned that Hedy had cheated, defying the teacher, and causing a disturbance in the principal's office, her mood, which had been brooding for days, was filled with a sense of satisfaction and revenge. She was so thrilled that she lost control upon hearing the announcement.

The entire class was staring at her, and the teacher was frowning at her agitation.

Kayla blushed all over when she realized that she had become the center of attention.

She hurriedly lowered her head and sat down. She had never been so embarrassed in her life and was filled with a strong urge to find a hole to crawl into.

Hedy!

Kayla gritted her teeth. She wished she could chew Hedy up and spit her out. Clearly, she blamed everything on Hedy.

Alex found the materials his teacher sent him to acquire, and he was about to return to the classroom when he saw Hedy standing downstairs. She was talking to a distinguished gentleman in a suit.

The two were engaged in a pleasant conversation. That man even handed something to her.

Standing on the stairs, Alex looked at Hedy, who was standing casually with her hands in her pockets and her back toward him. For the first time, he noticed that Hedy seemed different than before.

When he thought about the recent announcement, he was disgusted.

Like everyone else, Alex didn't believe that Hedy, who was known as a poor student at Norwood High, could achieve a perfect score.

He suspected she used some trick to evade the surveillance and the invigilators.

Jim said, "I hope we have the opportunity to meet again."

Hedy replied, "We will."

She spoke with certainty. It was unclear if this was just her way of speaking or if there was some other meaning behind it.
