Chapter 29: Mixed Emotions

*Nigel’s POV*

I arrived at the Sunset & Grill Bar to meet Thomas around seven o’clock. I needed some distractions to take my mind off Sophie. Thomas greeted me at the door.

"Let's have some drinks,” he stated. He wrapped his arm around my shoulder as we entered the restaurant. Once we sat down, he began the conversation. "I'm glad you told me what happened. When I saw that video, I was stunned."

"Yeah, I didn't know I was being recorded. I can't believe she set me up, and I fell for it."

I grabbed a menu and skimmed over the selection of beers.

"You know what your problem is, Nigel? You couldn't resist falling for that journalist girl. You could have slept with her as much as you wanted, but you fell for her and then started sharing sh*t you shouldn't have been sharing. You know we don't break the code, man," he noted as he nudged my arm.

"Now you sound like Richard," I replied, rolling my eyes.

I flagged the waiter to our table to place an order.
