Chapter 2 - Divorce?

Yvonne stared at the message and tried to call the sender, but unfortunately, the sender did not pick up the call.

She got her laptop from her room and looked up the Riley Group Corporation to get the company phone number. She called the number, but it wasn't reachable since it was 11 p.m.

This was the first time he had not made his commitment since they got married three years ago.

The next day, Yvonne cancelled all her appointments and hurriedly went to his company to find out what the sender meant and if he was there.

Meanwhile, Javier was in his office, looking out the window, when Nadia came into the office quietly and hugged Javier.

"Missed me?" she said, while she smiled.

Javier sighed, held her hand, and yanked it away from him.

"How many times have I told you to never hug me?"

"Well....don't you like it?"

Nadia uses her thumb to go down his chest. He held her thumb tightly, and she yelled in pain.

"I never give a warning to anyone, but consider yourself lucky to get the first warning."

"What do you mean by that?"

"At the set yesterday, I saw what you did," he said. He holds her chin aggressively, "Never in your life will you ever hit her again; I don't care if it is acting." He paused a little, "Just don't do it, because if you do, you might not live to tell the tale." He smirked and let go of her chin.

Nadia fell back a little, and her hand was shaking. Was that a threat? This was the first time he had ever reacted so strongly. Was it because of Yvonne, or was it because she met him in a bad mood? she wondered.

Even though she has done a lot of things, he never once yelled at her or made her sad, but just because of Yvonne, he talked to her like this. This made her rage, and she looked at her watch.

She stood up as she tried to hide her shaking body.

"Why do you care about that bitch? We both know you got married to her because of the promise you made to her sister," she continued. "You never loved her; you pretended to love her. I know you are saying all of this because of the promise you made to her sister and you," she continued, as she pointed at him, "are scared that you might break the promise."

Javier sat down in his office chair and took a sweet from his pocket.

"And so? How is that any of your damn business?" he said, while licking the sweet.

"Yes, it might not be my business, but it might be her business since she thought you got married to her because you loved her," she said, "Which again I feel bad for her," she scoffed.

Yvonne slowly removed her shaking hand from the door. Knowing what she just heard. She left the company in a hurry.

'How can it be? So he got married to me because of my sister's wish?' she thought.

Yvonne entered her car and was driving in a rush. People horned for her, but it felt like she was alone. Her phone rang, which puts her into reality. She stared at her phone and tried to find a place to park.

She puts her head on the steering wheel with tears flowing down her face. Was all that he did a lie? Was the love he told her a lie? She wondered.

Why didn't she notice it three years ago? They slept in a separate bedroom, and he will act like a stranger to her? Why did she not notice it?

He was the one who proposed to her; he was the one who confessed to her. A lot of thoughts were going through her head. What is she going to do now?

Her phone continues to ring. She picked up the call.

"Wow, I have been calling you, and you won't pick up. What a friend you are!"

"Draft me a divorce paper."

"What?"

"I will explain to you later; just draft me the damn divorce paper. I will come to your office to get it."

"Why do you want a divorce paper?"

"Just do as I say right now. I will tell you later," she said, in a rush.

Yvonne ended the call and started driving.

Later in the night, Javier came home and saw that the whole house was dark. He thought Yvonne wasn't home yet. He turned the light on and stumbled on his feet when he saw her sitting on the couch in the living room with a paper in her trembling hand.

"I am sorry for not coming home last night; I had something urgent to do and I totally lost track of the time.

She did not answer him, and saw that her face was emotionless.

"What happened?" he said, concerned.

"Let's divorce."

Javier looked at her in shock. He never expected that word from her. She loved him so much, so why would she want a divorce?

"Why? Is it because I didn't come yesterday?" he said, as he was trying to understand her thought process.

"No, I overheard the discussion between you and Nadia. I never knew you were that close to Nadia."

Javier wondered what on earth she heard, and how would the secretary let her come near his office without informing him first?

"So, did you get married to me because of a promise made to my sister?"

"Yes."

Javier thought there was no point in lying since she had already found out.

Yvonne chuckled while trying to hide the tears from forming in her eyes.

"Are you okay?"

She stared blankly at him and handed him the divorce paper.

"Sign it."

He put his work bag on the floor, looked at the divorce paper, and tore it up into pieces.

"What did you do that for?"

Yvonne yelled at him in anger.

"I am not signing it, and who gave you that divorce paper? Is it that lawyer friend of yours?"

"She is not the one,"

"If you say that immediately, that means she is the one."

"She is not the main concern right now. I want you to sign that paper," she said as she pointed at the paper.

"I am not signing it."

"Why?"

Yvonne couldn't understand why he wouldn't sign the divorce papers. What did he gain by being married to her? Is it because he does not want to break the promise that was made?

"I am tired. I don't have time for you," he said as he picked up his work bag and was going upstairs.

Yvonne quickly stood at his front.

"Do you think I am joking?"

Javier puts his work bag down again and puts his hands on her shoulder.

"Listen, I will not give you the divorce you want, so behave yourself, and you will see my good side."

He patted her head and smiled at her as he went upstairs.

"Why don't you want to sign the divorce paper when you don't love me?" she yelled as he was leaving.

Yvonne fell to the ground and was crying so heavily. She buried her face in her hands.

The next day, Nadia was in her home when the doorbell rang. She looked through the peephole and saw that it was Javier. Without a thought, she opened the door.

Javier stepped his feet into the place.

"This is your first time coming to my home," she said as she kept smiling. "You should have told me you were coming; I would have prepared."

Javier holds her by the neck and pushes her to the wall. Nadia gazed at him and tried removing his hand.
