Chapter 14 - Dungeon

The dungeon, where the sky could not be seen, extended infinitely in all directions. Roads, and bifurcation, crossroads, a slight descent. In this tidy and orderly path that was placed underground, me, Nier and Leone are looking for our targets on the first floor, Goblins, Leone goes ahead, Nier and I follow two steps back, we find a group of 5 goblins at the end of the path.

Light blue walls and ceilings filled all my vision. With the blue light shining on the walls we prepared to face our targets, Leone prepared his cargo with his fist shining orange, increasing his speed with mana, he reached quickly in front of the first goblin, there's no hesitation in his movements, we saw first hand what monsters are capable, monsters will not have our mercy, unless they are Xenos.

(A/N: The Xenos are monsters that have intelligence. They are much more intelligent than other monsters and some can speak the Human language.)

Leone, "ROCKK" delivering a powerful punch to the goblin's head, the goblin's head was flattened before he was trapped in the dungeon wall by the punch, exploding into smoke a second later.

The other goblins didn't stand still advancing with their sticks towards Leone, with Leone acting as a distraction Nier and I, we managed to catch them unprepared, I cut off the head of two goblins in one quick motion, Nier stuck his two daggers in the goblins' heads, our targets exploded and left behind their finger-sized cores. Nier took all the crystals down with a bunggie hum rope.

Nier, "you felt, they got ....more..." "slow" I completed the speech.

I didn't think that the difference between us would be so big after we received Athena's Falna, it seems that nothing will threaten us on this floor, "let's try the second floor"

Nier and Leone accompanied me up the stairs to the second floor, we tried to fight the monsters, besides the appearance of kobolds and more groups of goblins, it was not very challenging, so I proposed to them "it is not being a challenge for us, we will not improve this way, I propose that we separate, if you are having problems talk through [family ties]".

Nier and Leone agreed and we broke up, we agreed to meet again in two hours for lunch.

I ran through the corridors fighting groups of goblins and kobolds, it was hard to fight against big groups, but little by little I got used to it, I didn't use the lightning speed, I only increased my speed with Mana, one hour later I got used to my increased speed with Mana, after that the monsters couldn't even react before they exploded and left the crystals, the hardest part was collecting the crystals from the ground.

Merlin, (I'm going down to the 3rd floor, the 2nd is no longer a challenge) I spoke to Nier and Leone, for [family ties]

Leone, (I'm also going, I won't let you beat my YOUTH, gahhh gets out of my head) laughs with Leone still suffering from Guy's brainwashing.

Nier, (I'm going too, there's no more pleasure... I say challenge in killing....shit clown... passing his habits to me) I was a little worried about Nier's training with Hisoka.

Leone, (just don't go chasing children Nier HAHA) Leone spoke loudly in our mind.

Nier, (Shut up, idiot, I'll tell Ahri that you snot-nosed until you were 9 years old) Nier threatened Leone.

Leone, (have mercy, good sir)

Nier, (it's even better)

I laughed with their jokes as I descended to the 3rd floor, the new opponent of this floor was a monster that resembles a giant lizard, they were fast and walked on the ceiling, a couple of lizards caught me off guard when they were on the ceiling, I reacted quickly and jumped back, but one of them hit me with his tail and I was thrown towards the wall.

Merlin, "gahhh"

My back hitting the wall hard took my air, spitting a little blood, trying to get up quickly, defending a blow of tail from one of the lizards, and I'm pushed back two steps before I recover my posture.

Merlin, "come your grown lizards" in my anger I cover my sword with rays, it shines like a lightsaber, cutting the two lizards until I see their cores on the ground.

Merlin, "tsk, wretched lizards, I'll kill them all" I complain while I pick up the crystals, I have to be more alert, I was lucky, I mentally warn my brothers to keep an eye on the lizards on the ceiling.

I follow my kill, mainly looking for lizards still a little upset, running through the 3 floor, I saw a shadow on the ground, I raise my sword and run towards the shadow, getting closer I see better the shape of the shadow, it seems human.

When I get in front of the person my face gets dark, a human corpse half eaten by monsters his legs and arms are half eaten, it's amazing that his face is intact, he seems to be the age of Nier, this only reminds me of the difficulty of this world, the weak don't survive, if you try to live an ordinary life, any adventurer can end his life easier than killing a goblin. The only way to live freely is to be strong.

As fun as it is to use magic and fight monsters, I need to keep in mind that this is real life, people die.

I get down and review the corpse, taking the adventurer identification, leave the corpse behind and start hunting again.

The identity card of an adventurer has a magic that shows if an adventurer is dead or not, also marks the time of death and place, if you find a dead adventurer, it is courtesy to collect the identification and deliver the guild, so the family knows of the death of your adventurer.

I met with Leone and Nier half an hour later, we ran up the floors and got food from the tents near Dungeon, we got our spent mana back at lunch, we warned Athena of our progress by [family ties] she was surprised at our progress, but I reassured her that we can handle it, I don't want to think about what Eina will say.

We went down to the 5th floor and stayed there for the rest of the day, getting used to the strength of the monsters and working on our teamwork.

Leaving the dungeon and walking home I feel a bad intention attack directed at me, he went as fast as he appeared, I looked around trying to locate the source of this emotion, I never felt anything like it, I felt small as if I was in front of a predator and I couldn't do anything to face him, my back started to sweat cold.

Leone, "Merlin, what happened?" Leone asked me and was alert too, Nier discreetly approached the hand of the daggers.

Seeing that I couldn't find the source of this emotion, some minutes later, I left this feeling aside, I must be nervous after leaving the dungeon, that must be it.

Merlin, "it's nothing, I must be imagining things" I put this in the back of my mind.

We started walking again towards the Loki mansion, I am excited to remember that tonight is my first magic class with athena.
