Chapter 6

Cheyenne's POV

I'm blinded by some bright ass white light. I look around and I start to make out where I am. I'm surround by a bunch of wildflowers with the sea off in the distance in one direction and a thick green forest in the other. I've never been here before.

'Where the hell am I? What the hell is going on?' I thought to myself. Just then, I see the silhouette of a person walking towards me. I immediately go into defensive mode and take my stance when I hear a laugh in my head.

"Calm down Cheyenne. It's just mother." The voice was as soft and conforming and I've never heard anything like it.

"What? Mother? That's not my mother! I don't even know where the fuck I am!? And how do you even know my name" I yell out looking all around.

"That is my mother. The mother of all of us. Calm down she means you no harm. I promise." That voice in my head calling out again. All of a sudden, I feel safe and like I should just relax but my brain telling me to be on the defense and to keep my guard up.

"Cheyenne. It's a pleasure to finally meet you. Although I wish it was not on these terms." The figure finally in my view and my eye focused on her. She was the epitome of beauty. She had this soft silver glow around her, with eyes so grey they almost looked silver in the sunlight. Her brown-ish red hair about mid-length down her back and looking like embers in a fire with the sunlight bouncing off it. Her lips turned up in a soft smile. Not even a single blemish or scar on her skin; that I could see anyways. I rapidly blink my eyes and shake my head to refocus, and I reset my strike stance that Ty and Damon taught me.

"Who are you!? Where am I?!" I demanded answers.

"My child. My name is Selene. I am the Moon Goddess." She lightly chuckles at my apparent stupidity. She continues while I relax and stand up straight. "You are in my realm sweetheart."

"Wait. If you're the Moon Goddess, and I'm in your realm…does that mean…does that mean that I'm…I'm dead!?" I stumble across my words trying to make sense of everything. Last thing I remember was being at the football game and helping Sammi up, and then…those eyes. Those big bowls of honey staring at me. My footing falters as I come to realization that I'm dead. I mean I must be. Right?

"You are not dead sweetheart." Selene chuckles softly again. "You are very much alive, but you are unconscious at the moment so we don't have a lot of time so I must get to the point." I look at her so confused, she must have thought she had 6 heads and 8 tentacles or something. She sighs and waves me over to where she was standing. As I cautiously started walking in her direction a small bird bath type thing appeared out of nowhere. "Look. You are safe in the hospital right now." I get up next to the structure and look down in the water and see myself laying in a hospital bed with a bandage wrapped around my head.

"What's going on?" I ask but a lot quieter this time.

"Sweetheart, look at me." Selene pleads with me as she takes my hands in hers. "I don't have time to explain everything so I will leave what lead up to this up to those back down there to explain to you when you wake up. I brought you here because I need to warn you."

"Warn me?" I tense up but she tightens her grip on my hands but not enough to hurt me though.

"Yes sweetheart. There's a war coming your way and you're the key to winning and keeping your pack and the surrounding packs alive." I stumble backwards in complete shock. If I wasn't dead when I came here, I'm sure I was now.

"Excuse me!? You must have the wrong girl. I haven't even shifted yet! And I'm just an Omega. I have very little training. How can I be the key to winning and saving my whole pack?!" I was just rambling on and on when Selene grabs my face softly and pulls my head up so I'm looking her in the eyes.

"Sweety calm down. You still have some time before it happens, but not a lot. And you are not just the key to your pack surviving; you are the key to the surround packs also. Blood Moon, Howling Mountain, and Wolf Claw. That is all I can tell you for now." She says and snaps her fingers and the bird bath disappears.

"Wait that's it? You brought me here just to tell me that there a war coming and I'm the key to winning and saving not just my own pack but 2 other packs that I have no clue about?!" If I didn't have anxiety before, I sure as hell did now.

"I'm sorry sweety, but that's all I can tell you. You must go back now. Also, that voice in your head," She points to her temple and smiles, "That's one of my best and I paired her with you just for this reason. Pay attention to what she says." My mouth drops open and I'm at lost for words. Before I can say anything else, Selene blows me a kiss, and everything starts getting fuzzy again and I can feel myself falling.

*Tyler's POV*

I was out with Damon and few other of the guys setting up for our shift on border patrol. We were giving each other shit and joking around when my phone when off. It was a text from Cheyenne asking to pick her up after the game. I had text her back saying I had border patrol duty but that I would send someone else to get her. I put the phone back in my pocket and me and the guys headed out towards the woods. It was about an hour and a half into our shift when someone started blowing up my phone. I finally took it out and there was 17 text messages and 12 missed calls.

"What the hell?" I said out loud to no one but myself.

"Something's wrong. I can sense it in the bond." My wolf said sticking his nose in the air and sniffing around. Just then I feel the mind link open.

"TYLER GET HOME NOW!" It was my mom and she sounded worried.

"What's going on?" I ask

"Explain when you get here. Hurry up." With that she cut the link. I opened a link to Damon to tell him I had to go and that something was wrong. He told me that he already knew; that his dad already linked him to cover my area on border patrol.

I shifted back and gave my wolf full control, and we took off kicking up dirt and we dodged branches and down limbs. About 10 minutes later I saw the back of our house coming into view. My wolf ran us all the way up to the back door where my father let us in with a pair of shorts in his hands. I shifted right there in the parlor and slid on the shorts.

I looked around and everybody was there, even my 2 sisters who had moved with their mates to other packs. How did they get here before me?! Never mind that for now.

"What's going on? Someone die?" I never did handle serious situations very well. I think that's why me and Cheyenne got along the best out of all the siblings.

"Not yet." One of my younger siblings muttered and my father shot him that look that parents have that tells you you're in deep shit.

"Cheyenne is in the hospital." My mother said.

"What! What happened? Is she ok?" I start to panic.

"It's a long story but she hit her head on something and cracked it open. Right now, she is unconscious at Memorial hospital." My father spoke up as my mother started crying again.

"Then why are we all just sitting here?! Shouldn't we be there with her?!" Now I was getting pissed. Why the hell didn't someone at least go to be there with her. What if she wakes up and no one is there?

"Calm down Bub. We were waiting on you so we could all go together." One of my older sisters chimed in. I shot her a look that said "bullshit" and then turned around to walk out the door.

"I'm heading to the hospital. Ya'll coming or what?!" I shout back over my shoulder.

"Right behind you!" I hear from a couple of my siblings, but I didn't stop to look back to see who all was moving or not.

We pile into vehicles and take off towards the hospital. It's in the human town and thank the Goddess Cheyenne hasn't shifted yet otherwise it would raise a lot of questions. On our way one of my sisters was explaining to me what had happened. Why was I not surprised? Cheyenne always trying to play hero. Once we arrive, we pull into the E.R. parking lot and I don't wait for anyone else and take off running towards the doors. I tell the receptionist who I am and why I'm there and she directs me to Cheyenne's room. I make my way through the hospital up to the ICU waiting room. When I get up there, I can immediately smell another wolf, but not from our pack. I scan the room when I see Cheyenne's best friend Kira sitting there with her head in hands.

"Kira?" I ask as I walk up to her. She lifts her head up to look at me and then jumps up and throws her arms around my neck and starts bawling again.

"Please tell me she's going to be ok?" She begs me as she cries into my shoulder. I pat her on the back and pull her off me to sit her back down.

"Where's the Doctor?" I ask her. She wipes the tears from her eyes and points in the direction of a desk sitting behind a glass window. "Stay here. The rest of my family is on their way up. I am going to talk to the doctor, ok?" She nods her head as she takes in a deep breath. I make my way over to the desk and ring the bell for service. One of the nurses comes around the corner and opens the window.

"Can I help you?" She asked with a smile on her face.

"I'm Cheyenne's older brother, Tyler. We were told that she was brought in here from the college football game. Can I see her? What's going on?" I start bombarding this poor nurse with 100 questions.

"Yes sir, she is here and yes you can see her. I will take you back. Just come through those double doors." She pointed to the right and then I hear a buzz go off unlocking the doors so I can get threw them. She met me around the corner and motioned for me to follow her. Once we got to Cheyenne's room, she told me that she would page the doctor for me. I thanked her and went to sit down by the bed. I grabbed Cheyenne's hand and started talking to her. I heard that unconscious people can still hear you. I didn't know if it was true or not, but it was worth a shot, right?

"Hey little sis. It's me, Ty. I don't know if you can hear me or not, but you need to wake up." I whispered to her while rubbing my thumb across the back of her hand. Just then the door opened, and my parents walked in. My mother gasped and covered her mouth with her hand and buried her face into my dad's side. Dad wrapped his arm around her shoulders and pulled her closer to him for comfort.

"Has the Doc been in yet?" Dad asked me while still rubbing my mom's back.

"Not yet. The nurse said she was paging him." I nodded towards the door. We sat there for only about 5 minutes when there was a knock at the door and the Doctor walked in. I jumped up wanting answers right then and there. My dad grabbed my arm in an effort to get me to sit back down. "What's going on with her Doc? Is she going to be ok?" I asked before either of my parents could get a word out.

"I'm Dr. Smith and I will be looking after Cheyenne during her stay here. From what I understand, she hit her head rather hard tonight after tackling another girl out of harm's way?" The doctor asked looking a little puzzled at the fact and probably because Cheyenne was small and but was also strong and getting stronger every day.

"That's what we've been told also doc." My father replied.

"Well, we did x-rays, and her skull was not fractured, so that's a good thing. She did lose a lot of blood though and does have minor swelling which is applying pressure to her brain."

"Is she going to be ok? What do we need to do?!" my mother finally speaking up.

"As of right now, the swelling is not bad enough to warrant emergency surgery. Her vitals are strong, so we will just keep an eye on her for right now. If the swelling starts getting worse then we will have to talk about possible surgery. But as of right now, she should be just fine. It's not uncommon for a patient to lose consciousness after a head trauma. Like I said, we will be in and out checking her vitals and reflexes. When she does wake up, we will have more tests to run to make sure there is no brain damage. For now, it's just a waiting game." The doc shook my parents' hands and left the room.

I told my parents I would stay with her for the night so they could go update everyone else and get my younger brothers back home. One of my other sisters stayed in the waiting room with Kira while everyone else went home after they took turns coming back to see her. I guess all that's left to do is sit and wait.
