Chapter 1 A. The letters.

Irene

Even though the summer was not yet over, I felt that my vacation was coming to an end soon. Early August, the heat was unbearable and I? Locked in my room crying for my fate.

The cause of my condition, was none other than my beloved family, as there were many times when for days on end she showed her "immense" love for my person, but today my "dear" father said to take action, creating trouble out of nothing.

Hours and hours I believe I am really adopted , all of them are always loud and the peace I was looking for would only be there in the house if someone was missing, a rare thing. Result? My psychology was always in the Hell!

I gathered what composure I had and got out of bed.

I hurriedly opened the bedside drawer and shuffled through the contents with trembling hands. As soon as my hand grasped the blade, my eyes instantly glazed over. I hadn't done it for a long time and the old wounds disappeared almost immediately.

For a brief moment I felt a slight pain, but then my attention was drawn to the idea of soothing pain.

The Blade seemed to cut into the sensitive skin and just as the sensation overwhelmed me, an unfair voice sounded in the room. "Melinda, don't." The voice said pleadingly and I looked curiously at the empty room. Almost immediately I dropped the blade on the floor and looked at the scratch I had just made. I was surprised to find that the fresh scratch, with a blue glow behind it, was disappearing.

I felt myself not believing it and before I realized it my hand was scalded.

My whole brain was about to explode, when, Out flashed and a divine figure As a man, he looked at me with an unreadable Expression on his face.

I felt panic take hold of me and my body parts did not cooperate.

My mind was working feverishly and my only idea for survival was to run away, but they wouldn't cooperate.

The man kept looking for something and when he found it, he lifted it to the side of the door. I rolled my eyes and at the thought of him coming in and breaking the glass I cried my face off. Just when I thought there'd be a noise, Glass falling and I don't know what else, when I turned to look, The man was inside, playing with my dog.

As soon as the dog saw me, he ran over to me and pushed me into bed and cuddled me.

"Calm down, Arko," I said imperatively to the dog and he obeyed me.

"Who are you, and what do you want from me?" I said to the big man and he smiled.

"I brought you something, young lady," he said, and threw me the envelope, whereupon I caught him in the air.

As soon as the paper was in my hand, a wave of adrenaline went through me and with quick movements I opened it.

"Wizards? School? Magic?" I did, not believing

"We're leaving, we don't have time, I can answer whatever you want on the way. " He said hurriedly and with a wave of his umbrella everything started to move in the air.

It was about nine in the evening, the last lesson of the day had just come to an end and I was rising, laden with my bag full of books, up the steep hill that led to the house.

I was lost in my thoughts, staring indifferently at the dark sky and thinking about the year that was about to begin. The lessons at the school were difficult, preparing me for the year. As I was thinking about the math test, I saw a trail of light, almost certainly above my head.

Approaching silently, the trail had accepted that it was a large Owl . With a month's distance between us, I was able to process her as she sat on a utility pole and stared with her big eyes right into mine.

"An owl? What's she doing in town at this hour? " I said out loud as curiosity washed over me.

Watching the bag fall to the ground, I closed the distance, slowly trying not to scare her, when I noticed she was holding something in her beak.

"A letter!" I said again out loud.

Voices came from behind us and the owl spread its wings and flew away, letting the letter fall into my hands. After making sure it was in the pocket of my Jacket, I quickly crossed the remaining trail with quick gestures.

As soon as I entered the cockpit of my apartment building, I carefully took out the envelope and noted with curiosity the calligraphic way my name was written on it.

At first sight, it looked like an ordinary envelope, but its material, which was slightly yellowed by the weather, and the lavender smell it gave off, made my imagination run wild with the contents, which made it heavier than it looked. I was almost ready to mangle the envelope when the sound of my cell phone made me jump out of my terror .

I pulled it out of my jacket pocket almost immediately and looked up at the time, which was 9:30 pm. I was half an hour late, and the call was made by my mom, who was surely worried for no reason.

"Where are you kiddo, it's almost dark outside" I heard my Mother's voice and pulled the phone out of my ear so I wouldn't listen her yell.

"I'm downstairs, I was looking for my keys." I said quickly while looking for my keys.

"Go on up, I'll let you in." she said, and at the same time the sound of the doorbell went off.

With a push I entered the apartment building, and turning off the phone I headed for the elevator. Not five minutes had passed when I was back in the house.

Like every afternoon the house was quiet , my dad was playing with the computer waiting for the time to pass before he went to pick up my brother from the gym and my mom was sitting on the balcony making clay jewelry.

After I talked to them, I went into the room so I could wear my pajamas and then went to sit with my mom.

Before I went out on the balcony I thought I would take the envelope with me in order to open it with her.

"Look what I found in the street, Mum, it's got my name on it." I said immediately and she put the clay tablets aside, giving me her full attention.

"So open it up and see what it says." She told me and I nodded with my curiosity no longer restrained.

Then the closed envelope with the strange symbol on the red bullhorn was now open and abandoned on the table while two pieces of paper of the same colour as the envelope that had surrounded it were now in my hands .

"What does it say?" asked my mum and i was looking at the letter with curiosity.

"Now I'm going to read it." I said and began to read the contents of the letter that had now caught my attention.

"Finally, what does it say? " again she asked after a while and I looked at her confused.

"It says something, about some magic school and that they have a place there for me!" I said and she looked at me with joy.

"That means you're special" She said and winked at me mischievously.

At the same time, my dad came out onto the balcony, probably because he heard our conversation.

"What are you up to here? " he asked us laughing and I smiled mischievously.

"Our daughter got a letter. It's a place at a wizarding school." she told him in a strange tone but I didn't pay attention, my excitement was too great to think about it.

"Can I go? " I asked, making eye contact. while he seemed to think about it for a few minutes, he looked at me and smiled.

"Rather than waiting for her to come back at 9 from the classes , at least there we'll know where she is." he said and my mom agreed.

I jumped up and hugged them both tightly together , my joy reddening.

"Now what do we do? " my dad asked and I shrugged.

"We just wait. " I said calmly but in reality my curiosity was boundless.

Before I sat back down on the couch I picked up a smaller paper like coupon from the floor that read in large letters platform 9 and 3-4.

I paid no further attention to either the second paper or the smaller one. I preferred to rest myself, giving myself a chance to eat and relax. After a refreshing bath and a hearty plate of pasta, I finally laid my back on the couch, letting a long breath release into the atmosphere.

I reflected on the entire day today and prayed for a miracle to happen so that I could be spared tomorrow's tutorial exam.

Immediately my eyes fell on the papers and I gloomily grasped the golden paper in my hand.
