Make up, Survive School, Touch on the Lips

I finished brushing my teeth and took a shower. I walked down stairs to the dining table where Tokita-san and Kinai-san were already eating. Kinai-san would not talk to me and Tokita-san seemed to know what had happened. Tokita-san however smiled at me, with no bad intention. I was confused at this expression.

When me and Kinai-san finally finished our food, Tokita-san told me privately that he knew what had happened and he wasn't mad. Today we are not going to school by car as Tokita-san wants me to make it up to Kinai-san. I took this opportunity and Kinai-san and I left. He then whispered something in my ears. I was surprised by what he said but didn't mind it at all. I'll use it when the time comes I guess.

The walk there was silent. Kinai-san would not talk to me or even look at me. I finally got the courage to talk.

"Umm Kinai-san, I apologize for what happened this morning. It was all my fault! I promise something like this won't ever happen again! I'll do anything you want! I swear!"

"Anything?"

When I said I would do anything Kinai-san wanted, it seems her moody expression immediately turned to an expression of cheerfulness and happiness with a bit of evilness behind that innocent smile. Oh God, what kind of crazy thing is she going to make me do for her?

Murmurs are all I hear when we get to the front of the school. I was getting death stares from every single first year boy and someone was charging at me but thankfully there were others holding them back. When I said I was willing to do whatever Kinai-san said, I didn't think all she wanted was to hug my arm while going to school. It seems this has gotten the attention of everyone at school. I am so fucking screwed when I get inside the classroom.

Bye Bye Ayanami-kun!"

I was practically followed by a group of first-year boys after me and Kinai-san separated. When there was a corner, I sprinted to my classroom. It seems like they lost me. It's only a matter of time though until they realize the person Kinai-san came to school with is me. But at least now I can rest a bit…

"Juni–"

"AHH"

I was startled when someone called my name and felt a hand on my right shoulder. I turned around to see my friend Kanjiro looking at me with a curious and smiling look.

"Yo yo. No need to be so startled. I didn't think I looked that scary."

It seems his funny personality is still on display after he was left with a lot of unanswered questions when I was dragged out of school by Kinai-san last week.

"So it seems there might be some explaining you have to do later today."

Kanjiro said this as his head was turned towards outside the classroom. Ah shit, it seems the group of boys found me. Thank God the bell rang as they got here. One by one each of the boys left to their own classrooms.

"And some explaining to do for me as well."

Yep, this is gonna be a long day.

I quickly changed my clothes and headed to the gym. There was a physical education class today so I stored my normal uniform in the changing room and headed to the gym.

"Wait for me!"

Kanjiro caught up to me.

"Come on, we are gonna be late"

We both sprinted towards the gym and thankfully, we weren't late. Otherwise we are gonna have to clean up the gym after class. I don't want to do that.

"Pass the ball."

"I'm open, pass it."

"Let's go!"

It seems the PE teacher was sick today and we had a period of free time. A lot of the girls formed a volleyball game. Not a lot of guys joined for obvious reasons…

"What's your relationship with our school idol?"

"Why was Kinai-chan hugging you by the arm?"

"Are you guys going out?"

"Why you of all people!"

I was bombarded with questions that I don't know if I should answer truthfully or not.

"Hey guys, can't you see that Juni is clearly uncomfortable answering those questions? Quit it."

One by one the boys left my sight to go somewhere else. I looked at Kanjiro with a smile and he gave me a thumbs up. Damn, I am so glad I have a friend like him.

It was lunchtime and I sat down with Kanjiro like I always do. However, this time I have a bad feeling surrounding my whole existence. There was at least one set of eyeballs staring in every direction I looked. No way in hell I can eat in peace like this.

"Do you want to go back to the classroom?"

Kanjiro seemed to have picked up on what I was feeling and asked if I wanted to go back.

"Yea, please."

We went back to the classroom and it did not get any better. I was still staring at many boys in the classroom. One finally had enough, slammed his table and walked up to me.

"What's your relationship with Tochaki-san?"

I remember this boy. Although he was one of the many boys that bombarded me with questions earlier today in PE class, he was recognizable with his blonde hair and caramel eyes if I remember correctly, his name was Tachi Kenji.

"What are you talking about?"

Did I really think acting dumb would get me out of this one? I am such a stupid guy.

"Do I really have to point it out? Everyone saw Tochaki-san hugging your arm this morning. Of course us other boys would have questions for you."

Many of the boys nodded in agreement in the background.

"Well, its kind of hard to explain…"

"Oh really, As proudly as I am to say this, Tochaki-san only belongs to me. Do you dare to take her away from me?"

Belong to you? I thought she didn't have a boyfriend.

"I-"

"Thats enough"

A voice I am all too familiar with. Kinai Tochaki was standing right outside our classroom door. She seemed to be holding two different lunch boxes. Many stares from boys immediately shifted from me to her.

"Oh Tochaki-san, I didn't think you would show up."

Tachi was still giving me a death stare after that statement.

"I was just talking to my good friend Ayanami-kun, that's all. Right Ayanami?"

I stayed silent as the tension grew heavier and heavier.

"What was that about me belonging to you?"

Oh I guess she did hear that.

"Oh that? I mean, I asked around tons of girls a year the past few weeks. They all agree that me and you are destined to be together. I mean, look at me. I am the ace of the basketball team and I am good looking. Did you seriously like a guy who is gloomy all the time and did one good thing by saving you from a pervert? I could have done the exact same thing and if not, better than what he did in the situation if I was there! It only makes sense for the most handsome boy and the school idol to be together, no?"

I honestly can't even disagree with what he said. Ever since the basketball season started, Tachi has been scoring points after points and always ends up as the MVP of every game. He was in fact good looking and had many girls looking at him everyday. It seems however that he only got eyes for one girl which happened to be Kinai-san.

Kinai-san was silent the whole time Tachi was giving his speech. Kinai-san then walked towards me and Tachi.

"Yes, come here, we are destined to be toge–"

He walked right past Tachi, leaned towards me, and put her lips to mine. The whole classroom and the students watching from outside the classroom all made a huge noise. They cannot believe what they have seen.

Kinai-san then separated her lips from mine and stared at the dumbfounded Tachi.

"Destined? There is only one person I love in this world and he is not you! No way there will ever be a universe where I would be "destined" to be with someone this rude!"

Kinai-san then turned around and walked out of the classroom.

"Kinai-san wait!"

Why the hell did I yell that out? What did I even want to say to her? What the hell am I doing! Kinai-san then turned around with a smile.

"Let's walk home together after school again alright!?"

"Umm, ye-yea."

She left with a smile on her face, I couldn't tell if it was a menacing smile or a genuine smile. I looked towards my right to see Tachi on the ground, still dumbfounded by what happened. The bell rang and lunch was over. The rest of school went about as normal as it can be. No one was staring at me anymore. I don't know if I should feel happy or worried.
