Crying Reaction

Time past quickly. The day of Christmas Eve, Tokita-san took me and Tochaki-san out to eat at a fancy restaurant that served kobe beef. Apparently this restaurant only takes reservations and Tokita-san made this reservation a couple months ago since the place is so popular. Once I ate their food, I could understand why it was so popular. We went back home afterwards and watched some Christmas shows and movies before going to bed. I couldn't sleep. I was so nervous for tomorrow that I couldn't even close my eyes. What are they gonna think? Will they like it? Will they hate it? I don't know! As I contemplated this matter, I didn't even realize I was dozing off…

I woke up and the sun was up high. I checked the clock in my room and it was 7 AM. I could practically hear someone running around in the hallway. I opened the door and saw Tochaki-san running around yelling "Present time!" I smiled and got dressed and went down stairs. Tokita-san was already waiting for me and Tochaki-san and we all sat down in a circle. There were four presents under the Christmas tree.

"Which one is mine? Which one is mine!?"

Tochaki-san was apparently very excited about opening presents and she was acting like a toddler still in preschool.

Tokita-san picked up one of the presents and gave it to Tochaki-san and then gave me a present as well that was shaped like a small box.

"Merry Christmas Tochaki, Merry Christmas Juni."

Tochaki-san tore her presents apart and it was a pair of earrings. She looked happily at the gift and gave his dad a huge hug. She must be very happy with her gift.

"Juni, you should also open yours."

"Yea Juni-kun! I wonder what it is."

I opened the present slowly and it was a new apple iPhone, the newest model as well. I looked with a shocked face and looked back at Tokita-san. I was so shocked I started shivering.

"Do you like it?"

"Of course. I can't thank you enough! Thank you Tokita-san."

I ran up to Tokita-san and gave him the same huge hug Tochaki-san gave him. I can't believe he would give me a new phone for a Christmas present. This must be a very expensive phone.

"Open mine next! I also gave you a present. And also dad, I got you a present as well!"

Tochaki-san handed me another small box that was similar in size to the one Tokita-s-an gave me. I took it apart and it was a new phone case. The design was a cartoon girl standing with the sun at the tom holding a hand. I assumed it was a case for my phone and thanked Tochaki-san.

"I'm glad you liked it! It's actually a pairing phone case with my phone so it would look cute together when we put our phones side by side! My phone case is similar but it is a boy with a moon at the top!"

"I see, thank you very much."

She lowered her head and I got confused for a second. I then realized what she wanted and reached out my hand and patted her head. It seemed she likes me patting her head and she looked up and gave me a blushful smile.

Tokita-san opened up the present he got from Tochaki-san and it was a new keychain. It had a suitcase as the design. Although it didn't seem like much of a gift to me, Tokita-san seemed to really liked the gift because he immediately started looking for his keys and put it on and showed a smile towards Tochaki-san.

"Well, I hope you guys have a go–"

"Wait Tokita-san, I actually have something for you guys."

I ran up the stairs and grabbed the two gifts wrapped up down the stairs and handed the gifts to Tochaki-san and Tokita-san. Both of them showed a shocking look.

"Thank you for taking care of me for the last two weeks. I appreciate what you have done for me so I went out with my friend a few days ago to get you guys these presents. I hope you like them."

"Juni-kun, you didn't ne–"

"But I did need to. I really appreciate everything you guys have done for me. It's only right if I return the kindness."

Both of them seemed to understand my intentions and opened up their presents. Tokita-san opened up his first and looked at the tie with a blank face.

"I've always wanted this tie but never gotten the chance to buy it since I was always so busy and they don't sell it online. Thank you Juni."

It seemed Tokita-san liked the tie I gave him.

"I'll put this on when work resumes. Thank you very much Juni."

"You are welcome, this is my gift to show my appreciation."

Tokita-san put the tie aside and it was time for Tochaki-san to open her gift. She opened the gift slowly and saw the small box. She opened the lid of the box and saw the flower shaped necklace. She took it out of the box and stared at it just like Tokita-san.

"I've never given a gift to a girl before so it was hard to choose a gift you would like. My friend suggested a necklace so I decided to use his suggestion and got you this necklace. I hope you like it."

Tochaki-san stayed silent for a few more seconds. I couldn't tell if she liked it or not. Suddenly, I saw a drop of tear fall on the floor. I looked at Tochaki-san and I saw tears flowing down her eyes like a little river. She ran up to me and hugged me very hard.

"I love it. Thank you Juni-kun. I'll treasure it for the rest of my life!"

"I see, I'm glad you liked it."

I didn't know what to do. I didn't know if I should hug her back or not until I looked at Tokita-san nodding his head. I put my arms around her back and we hugged for a very long time, around a minute and maybe two. I patted her head to comfort her before she let go of me and took the initiative and wore the necklace.

"How do I look?"

"You look beautiful Tochaki-san."

There were still tears in her eyes but it wasn't as bad as before. She soon wiped off the tears with her clothes and put the necklace back into the box, ran to her room, and came back. She said she was putting it inside a safe place on her desk and I nodded. This was the best possible outcome I could have asked for. I thought of this as the rest of the day passed.
