Chapter 12 Part 2

(narrator) let's skip to the battle scene. We don't really need to see them going there, do we?

The seven are in a random field out about two miles from the north-west of the capital. Thordis' group is at a slight disadvantage with the sun glaring in their eyes. The teams are about fifty meters away from each other.

"how are we doing this? A bell? Follow who starts?" Mizubi asks.

The siblings look at one another and formulate a plan with no words. They charge at the adventurers in an obvious frontal assault. Krenn and Thordis take the charge against them in retaliation. Heather stops running and places her hands on the ground.

"I have the highest advantage here! You don't stand a chance." just as heather finished speaking, she grows the weeds hidden in the grass and twists countless amounts of them together, making a weed dragon.

"how do you like that!" Heather yells.

"oh, fuck me!" Thordis says as Heather's dragon swipes at her.

"I got Thordis and Krenn, go after the elves. Their support could be a problem." Heather assesses.

"they work well together." Mizubi says, releasing an arrow at Heather.

Haider jumps in front of the arrow, blocking it with his shield.

"I got the male. Make sure the mage doesn't cast assist magic." Haider says.

"come at me then!" Mizubi responds.

That leaves Llamiryl with Christopher. "why do I have a feeling that you're going to be the biggest pain for me?" Christopher asks, an arrow whizzes past him.

"that's close enough problem child." Mizubi says.

With the arrow stopping him from advancing, he pulls out his staff. He casts his Mana steal spell and yells "fire!" a second later, Llamiryl dodges his invisible attack, evading it at all costs.

"for Father's sake. She can use mage sight!" Christopher yells.

"we can switch if you want?" Haider says.

"not so fast, buck." Mizubi says, firing an arrow at Haider. Haider blocks.

"stop running away!" Haider yells. Mizubi laughs at Haider.

"Krenn is out. Like knocked out. Heather is our biggest problem. Can someone assist me?" Thordis asks. Dodging another paw swipe.

"if someone keeps Haider of me so I can charge a shot, I can." Mizubi says.

"I got you covered. Just start charging." Llamiryl says. Now dodging three invisible mana drain spells.

"gotcha!" Christopher yells. sending Llamiryl through a portal and placing her in the air.

Llamiryl casts a spell in mid-air. Recognising it, Christopher casts counter magic, but he was too late. Llamiryl casts Time Lock on Haider as she hit the ground, popping her shoulder out in the process.

Mizubi shoots a fully charged arrow at Heather's dragon. The arrow quadruples in size mid-flight and the instant it hits its target; it sets off a tremendous explosion, killing the dragon.

"harry no!" Heather yells.

Too focused on her dying dragon, Heather gets hit in the back of the head with the handle of Thordis' sword. "Heather's out!" she yells.

"so am I Thordis!" Mizubi yells.

"me too." Llamiryl says.

"what happened?" Thordis asks.

"Christopher hit me with some sort of mana draining spell which technically counts as a hit. Same with Llamiryl." Mizubi says.

Too preoccupied with releasing the Time Lock spell, Christopher becomes seemingly unaware of his surroundings. Thordis falls for his trap and charges in. Christopher instantly releases time lock and Haider casts ice wall in front of Thordis. However, Thordis threw her sword into the air, punched the ice wall and threw a kunai through the now broken wall, grazing Christopher's chin.

"damn! I guess that means I'm out." Christopher says.

"instead of a sabre and shield. I'll use two sabres." Haider says.

"fine by me, newbie!" Thordis charges at Haider.

As Thordis took to making a jab to the shoulder, Haider twirls round her blade, going for his own jab. Upon seeing this, Thordis backs away and the two start slowly turning around each other.

"come on Thordis, you were so full of confidence until now. What happened?" Haider teased.

"after that mauver, I have merit to be cautious of you." Thordis says.

Haider goes in with a swipe and Thordis dodges and counters before a flurry of attacks are exchanged between the two. Thordis dodging each strike and Haider deflecting. They both back off for a moment.

"we won." Haider says.

"no, you didn't. It's only just getting good." Thordis says, letting down her guard.

"flash freeze!" Haider yells, activating a trap he set when no one was looking. Unable to move fast enough, Thordis gets caught in the trap. Sealing her in a cocoon of ice but allowing her to breathe.

"I never said I would only use my sabres." Haider says, leaning against Thordis' frozen body.

"you out witted us. Christopher's brain wins the battle. Did you plan that?" Mizubi asks.

"when we looked at each other before we started. I'm so upset that you killed harry though." Heather says.

"stop naming them then!" Christopher says.

Haider unfreezes Thordis. "yeah congratulations. You beat us. I guess we won't be your carers then." Mizubi says.

"who said that?" Christopher asks.

"I don't follow." Llamiryl says.

"we only wanted to spar. We're cool, I approve." Christopher says.

"that's his way of saying we're friends now. We wanted to test you all." Haider says.

"sorry for taking out Krenn so fast. I wasn't expecting him to just try to block my Harry." Heather says.

"oh, he's always been stupid like that, don't worry about it." Thordis jokes.

"I didn't know that you could use spatial magic so well Christopher." Llamiryl says.

"don't say a word to of this ever again, but my affinity is spatial magic." Christopher whispers.

"oh crap. Yeah, lip zipped. Good thing Krenn is knocked out too because you know he couldn't keep his mouth shut about it." Mizubi says.

The group waits for Krenn to wake up and they walk their way back to the capital gate.

Just outside the capital gate, a fancy carriage makes its way out.

"I bet that's Kate! Hay!" Haider yells, waving.

"I thought she had a riggity old thing." Mizubi asks.

"she does. Maybe it's a different Kate than we know?" Thordis says.

Kate comes running from behind her new carriage and starts waving back. "Haider! My shiny little gay star!" Kate yells.

Haider jumps into Kate's arms, like they're old friends who haven't seen each other in years. "Your new carriage looks fit for a king!" Haider squeaks.

"that's because it is. It's the most expensive and secure carriage made in Stocaea." Kate says.

"does it have anything cool? Because it doesn't look very practical." Christopher says.

"well, The Fancy Magic Carriage 5 is armed with state-of-the-art magic negation and barrier magic. That allows me to be safe while I'm on the move. Oh, and it moves without horses too, so I guess propulsion magic, too." Kate answers.

"I don't think that's safe enough. How many spells can it destroy before needing to recharge?" Christopher says.

"five I think. Why do you want to know that?" Kate asks.

"I don't want what happened today to repeat itself." Christopher walks up to the carriage and places a hand upon it. "I'm going to need your help Kate, hold my sister's hand and keep replenishing my mana until I'm done."

"oh ok, what are you going to do?" Kate says. She walks up to Heather and grabs her arm, dragging her to put her hand on Christopher.

"I'm going to give you carriage a better defence that will last a few more hits. I'll incorporate it into the activation feature the vehicle already has." Christopher says.

He casts the spell as soon as he feels Kate touch his back. Christopher's spell consists of 10 rune circles and 170 runes stretching across his arm.

"can everyone help focus the spell? I can handle the mana part, just keep as many runes in focus as you can." Christopher asks.

"of course. Come on everyone, let's help." Thordis says.

Everyone who wasn't already in the spell touches his arm, focusing all their energy on keeping the runes in focus as they are written. Looking on from the entrance, the captain of the guard recognises the spell he is attempting.

"is that nuclear strike defence magic? What the hell!" The captain says, backing away.

(narrator) fucking idiot. That's nuclear mirror magic.

"hold up my arms, I think my arms may snap." Christopher yells.

Krenn, Thordis, Mizubi and Haider quickly hold his arms up. "is it really that heavy?" Thordis asks.

"yes and if I fail for any reason, my arms will explode, so please keep them up." Christopher yells.

"what the fuck were you thinking attempting something like this you moron!" Haider yells.

"poor judgement. Clearly!" Christopher answers.

Focusing on completing the final runes, Christopher's vision goes blurry.

"I can't keep pumping you with mana fast enough. Finish it boy before you kill us all." Kate yells.

"I-I um. Give me a seco-nd. Got it! Get ready for some push back." Christopher says.

Christopher releases the spell into the carriage's defence system and he, Kate and Heather get pushed onto the grass next to the road. "did it work?" Kate asks.

"well, there's only one way of finding out." Heather says. "christ- uh, he's passed out." Heather continues.

"I don't think he's getting up any time soon. Let me just activate the defences. Stand back, quite a bit. I have no idea what he's done." Kate climbs in the driver's seat and grabs the rope.

Standing far away, Haider makes an ice javelin. "ok, tell me when I can throw." He says.

Kate activates the defences, making sure that everyone was well out of range. "ok, throw."

Haider charges up a run and throws his ice javelin at the carriage. As soon as it hit the barrier, it disappeared. A second later, it re-materialised five times larger and faster than before and returned to Haider on the same ark. "oh fuck!" Haider ducks and quickly makes a shield.

"deflect not block! It will shatter your shield." Thordis yells.

"oh ok, got it." As soon as the javelin hits the shield, Haider shifts his entire body to deflect the pointy ice. The shield smashes on impact, but luckily, it shifted enough to stab into the ground next to him, lifting most of the surrounding dirt.

"oh. My. Fucking. God. CHRISTOPHER!" Haider screamed, stomping towards Christopher's unconscious body.

"Haider, calm down. He's not going to wake until he gets some of his mana back. How much is he on Heather?" Mizubi says.

"an even better question is, where the fuck is Llamiryl?" Thordis says.

"did she just walk off again?" Mizubi says.

"wait this has happened before?" Heather asks.

"last time she got captured by goblins and made into their sex slave!" Mizubi says.

"hay you can't say that to kids!" Thordis screams.

"look bitch, those kids just kicked our ass; I think they are more that mature enough to know this happens." Mizubi says.

"yeah, Christopher has read some graphic stuff to us growing up so don't worry about frightening us. He did the work for you." Haider says.

"see, I fucking called it." Mizubi contends.

"look, I'm my eyes your still kids so I won't be tolerating this stuff." Thordis states.

"that's fine. I don't mind a little more innocence. I felt like we grew up too fast, anyway." Haider says, glaring at Christopher.

"let's just look for her before she gets hurt again!" Mizubi says.
