Each sob that vibrated through her body was a direct bullet to my heart. Evangeline was in my arms after many explanations on my side. I knew what I needed to do this time. I couldn't let this go any further more than it already had. We had been in the hospital bed for three hours after the nurses declared her dad's funeral tomorrow and the cops got the information needed from me.

You fucked it up, you monster. I beat myself up as I exhaled in exhaustion and my tired eyes took in my innocent girl state. The mental picture of Evangeline ripping the belts made me want to kill myself to end her pain.

My dad definitely had to pay.

I didn't give a fuck about what would happen next but I needed a break from my agonizing soul and my restless conscience. If only I had warned Evange away from me.

But I couldn't. I bunched my fist and clenched my jaw as my girl continued to cry and whimper for three hours.

"Evange, it's not too late," I comforted her with my words or at least tried to. She wouldn't listen because she was in denial over her dad's death, "your dad would want you to be happy, see, he's even glaring down at me without knowing me." I joked and she gave a short laugh as her red emeralds brightened.

"He would-" she sniffed and proceeded, "he would tell you all the things he would to you if you hurt me." She softly let out a miserable laugh and blew into the tissue. I gave her a small smile as I gave her waist a squeeze.

My legs were numb due to the long hours of just sitting there and mourning over her dad, whom I didn't know anything about. I had to introduce myself to him in front of his coffin.

Hey Mr. Hart, I didn't know this would happen but a friend of my father shot you in the back.

Ha, approval to date his daughter declined.

Looking at Evange, her hair was a mess as her strands frizzled out and her red nose looked cute, her eyes were so full of raw sad emotions as flashes of her dad imaginarily appeared. I played with her fingers as her head rested on my chest.

It's all because you didn't put an end to this soon, she became like this because of you. My devils told me and I agreed. If I had made sure that dad would send the killer towards my girl, this wouldn't happen, I would have smiled at her dad as we get introduced by Evangeline herself.

"Princess, you're tired and you need to rest," I said, "but first, wash your face and tie your hair before you catch any fever," I instructed her and she realized that I was right.

"Will you stay?" She asked with a low tone of voice, "I don't want the nightmares to follow me." She exhaustingly admitted.

"Evange, look at me," she raised her eyes from my chest to meet mine when I said that, "I will never ever leave you. I promise you." I kissed her forehead and her chapped lips. Licking her lower lip to moisten the dried skin, she nodded with a grateful look on her face.

"I just have to drive to my house and I will quickly come back," I informed her and she looked alarmed, "don't worry, Evannie, I will be here before you know it." She got off of my lap as my numb legs were back when I stretched them and cracked my bones to relieve them.

"Please, be back." She pleaded and I nodded before kissing her lips again. After many steps of the stairs, I managed to rush out of the center to my house with ablaze eyes.

I was doing something crazy for her.

The prostitutes danced around my father as he sat on his favorite couch with a sloppy smile on his face, I strode inside to him and looked at him.

"I'm ashamed that I'm related to someone like you." I sneered as he smirked up at me, the urge to snap his teeth out of his mouth was bigger than life. The house was a mess again with food all over the carpet, a broken TV and glass shards on the floor from the last incident.

"Did you like my surprise, son?" He provoked me when he said that but I wasn't giving up so easily.

The steps behind me indicated that the killer joined the party, I bet dad called him because he knew I would come.

The more, the merrier. I smirked as I exposed my gun pointing it at him and the look of my horror inside of my father's eyes were like a delicacy to me. The killer tried to shove me causing my finger to push the trigger back, the prostitutes screamed as they ran away from my now dead dad.

"This is your last death." The killer murmured as I felt frustration build up inside of me. I'm sorry, Evangeline.

I closed my eyes as helplessness clouded my memories. The shot was heard and I shut my eyes harder.

Am I in heaven?

Blood seeped into my shirt as the man lurched forward making my eyes open again, I wasn't the one who died.

"That's the least you deserve." Evangeline seethed when I turned around to find that my Evangeline had killed the man who was about to shoot me.

Her hands shook as tears gushed out from her eyes when she dropped the gun that belonged to the man onto the wooden floor. I didn't hesitate to embrace her as she trembled once again on my shoulder and the police sirens were heard.
