SOPHIE'S POV

Going to school after my solo birthday isn't quite the fun after realizing that I would have to answer queries from some people and that includes the lecturers and Ciara; the girl who calls herself my friend, she just doesn't want to accept the fact that I need no friends and that I'll be better off without any for now, at least till my parents are back.

She somehow discovered that I was the girl who's parents disappeared over the nights and that I'm broken and probably need someone's care during this hard time; at least that's what she believes and tells herself. She's a pretty girl with a large heart and I still can't understand why she wants to hangout with someone like me; the school's loner, they say. I thought as I walked to school finger quoting the last part in my mind.

'Hey girl' I heard a voice behind me and at that instance I knew who it was, Ciara

I smiled halfly as I kept walking

'Before any other thing, why did you skip school yesterday?' She asked as we approached the school's frontyard

'Em.. Nothing really, I just wasn't in for classes yesterday' I replied as I lied through my teeth

'Oh, so you think I'm that dumb right?' She asked as she arched her brows

'Dumb? No! What do you mean?' I asked acting like I didn't know what she was trying to say

'Ever since you got to this school 3 years ago, you've always skipped the same day, the same month every year; even if every dumb ass in school can't figure it. I know it's your birthday' she said as she held my arm causing me to halt my movements

'Why didn't you inform me about it?' She asked sounding more concerned

'Yay! I'm glad you figured out' I said sarcastically

'I understand what happened but isolating yourself would only hurt even more and probably land you in trouble one day' she paused as she jerked me to get my attention

'I mean, you do not have anyone's number, no one knows where you come from or where you go to everyday after school, what if something happens and you can't even hit one button and call someone who could be there in a minute!' She said

'I .. Well thanks for your concern and by the way I'm sure I'd be fine and perhaps something happens I've your number saved' I said as I laughed halfway and we both kept walking to school as we randomly chatted about the day's work ahead.
