Prolog

I don't remember the last time I celebrated my birthday with someone else. He had no friends even until now that the years have passed.

My family always forgot me and didn't care if I lived or died. Being born into a noble family is the desire of most people, to have money and not worry about what could happen tomorrow.

In my case it was not like that. After being born into the royal family, through whose veins run the blood of one of the most powerful heroes that have ever existed. His legacy was such that only few heroes were able to surpass him during history.

As the firstborn of the royal family, expectations about my potential were enormous. The desire for a new hero to be born into the royal family was very high. His position in power was increasingly threatened by noble factions against the royal family. Only the birth of a son with great potential could save the delicate balance of power. The constant problems would be solved with this.

Unfortunately I didn't have any potential. I was a failure in the eyes of my parents, it was the worst thing that could happen according to their words.

It was neither better than average nor worse. The treatment towards me was no better than that of a servant, this was aggravated with the birth of my younger brothers.

They were the final nail in the coffin. His birth was celebrated by my parents, the royal family and the servants.

Shortly after my younger brother was born, a test was performed to measure his magical potential. To the fortune of the royal family and to my misfortune, the test yielded a surprising result. The potential of the king's second son was very great. A genius was born and a problem for me.

I say unfortunately for me since the treatment I received worsened. People never talked about me and the few times they did were to belittle and humiliate me by comparing me to my younger brother.

The comparisons of why I wasn't like him. They took advantage of every moment to compare me with him. In appearance, power and a future, they compared me in everything. I could only stay silent, it didn't matter if he defended me, it would only make my situation worse.

My fate was sealed when my younger sister was born. She had as much potential as my brother and the more she grew, the more beautiful she became.

The treatment she received until my brother was born was not as bad as what I had to go through when my sister was born. My younger brother and I are or were from the same mother except for my younger sister.

As the years passed my condition became worse. I learned everything self-taught, I was prohibited from entering the family library. Fighting, magic or anything else I learned on my own.

I never received support. One day I somehow managed to cast magic perfectly. As expected, I did not receive any compliments or words of congratulations. Quite the opposite happened with my younger brothers.

When my birthday arrived things didn't change.

I spent my birthday alone in my room looking at the stars. As a childen, when I thought about my birthday I would sometimes cry while covering myself with the sheets of my bed. This feeling worsened when I saw how my younger brothers' birthday was celebrated.

As the years went by, I managed to face the situation. I was just feeling sad for something I never experienced. Gifts, parties, cakes, none of that I was able to enjoy. I could only feel envious, I was never allowed to participate in any celebrations or leave the castle.

As the years went by, an idea began to float through my mind. If no one loved me and considered me special, only I could consider myself that way.

Yes, it was narcissism. Although deep down he knew it was just nonsense, he preferred to continue believing that he was the best.

One day everything went to shit. They threw me out of the house like a dog, with nothing more than the clothes I was wearing and a couple of silver coins that I managed to get. I knew that this result could happen sooner or later. When I was twelve years old they voted of mehouse. My royal family name was taken away. Some might consider it an exile, but it wasn't. They were just throwing away something they didn't need.

My potential wasn't the best but it wasn't worse than average. Things would only get worse for me. I got a mask to hide my face during my period as an adventurer.

I preferred to hide my face, I didn't know if the royal family would change their mind and decide to kill me.

Things were really bad at first, I was always cautious, even paranoid. But in the end I managed to survive and become strong enough to defend myself. I became stronger, but at a cost.

I lost my right eye and the feeling in my left arm. I couldn't feel anything, no pain or other sensation coming from my left arm.

On more than one occasion I was on the verge of death. My body was full of wounds and scars most of the time.

Several years passed until one day something strange happened. I was sitting on some rocks, nearby there were a couple of ogre bodies. I cleaned the blood from my sword, today was a day like any other.

Unlike the other times, was not here for an adventurer mission. I headed to the forest with the sole purpose of training.

The shine of the sword was beautiful. A few seconds passed and an immense headache suddenly arose.

Unconsciously I let go of the sword which made a metallic sound as it hit the stones. I grabbed my head with both hands.

I felt like the air in my lungs was starting to get scarce. It seemed like my head was going to burst into pieces because of the pain. I fell to the ground while holding my head. He was already beginning to gasp for air.

I felt like my body was burning inside. I don't remember how long it took until my condition was the same again.

A light as bright as the sun shone near my eyes. I have lost my sight, I thought when I saw nothing.
