The Sorcerer's Wrath #214

"The trial should be starting anytime soon..." I muttered as I lay on my back, staring directly into the sun. "Too bad I can't see the look on Waller's face once she realizes what's happening..." I added, chuckling as I shook my head.

Once Waller sets foot inside the courtroom, the judge will announce the start of the session, and she'd have no choice but to see it through to the end, regardless of the outcome, which would be her conviction beyond doubt, unless something happens to stop the session, that is.

And It's why I was here on top of the Wayne Tower, sitting on a gargoyle in the middle of the day: to ensure nothing stopped the trial. The tower was in the middle of Gotham and close to the courthouse, meaning I could quickly react to any sudden incident.

Waller would go down today. I'll make sure of it.

...

Inside the courtroom

Waller frowned as she scanned the courtroom and found no trace of Grayson. Naturally, the task force director expected him to be here, and his lack of presence gave her a bad feeling.

It was one of those gut feelings that Waller cultivated through a lifelong career of dealing with dangerous individuals, but the judge had already announced the start of the session.

The task force director could do nothing but grit her teeth in silence and hope her paranoia was misplaced. Her plan would work. Felix Faust would do something to bring the session to an abrupt end.

...

Gotham City

Olsen street was always busy due to its location at the center of Gotham near the courthouse. However, It was unusually crowded today as many people gathered around the courthouse to hear the conclusion to what some called the case of the century.

One particular man stood out from the rest of the crowd minding their business in the street as he hastily pushed anyone in his way, wandering aimlessly as he constantly inspected his surroundings.

Everyone knew the man was trouble at first glance and stayed out of his way, but he was the last of their worries, as they would soon find out.

Suddenly, the very atmosphere contorted as a black circle materialized in the air, and a man in a strange purple rope walked out of it, causing everyone to freeze as they looked up.

"There you are...!" The newly arrived Faust said as he locked eyes with the suspicious man. The sorcerer raised his hand and pointed at the man, firing a black beam of concentrated magical energy.

The man tried to run, but it was of no use. The magical attack found its mark, and he immediately burst into countless pieces of flesh and blood, spraying all over the pedestrians.

The people began to scream as they scattered in all directions, much to the sorcerer's amusement. "Run while you can! I'll deal with you pathetic ants in a minute," Felix Faust said, ignoring the frenzied crowd as he pointed his finger at the bloody remains of the suspicious man.

The sorcerer's smile widened as he watched a small, bloodied stone fragment float over the gory mess, glowing in a sinister black hue. "Yes! Come to me...!" Felix Faust bellowed in excitement as he closed his fist, causing the stone to fly toward him.

However, the sorcerer's smile instantly turned into a frown as a beautifully decorated axe appeared from nowhere, hitting the stone, and flying back to the waiting hand of a young man floating in the air.

"Felix Faust..." The young man said as he retrieved the stone from the axe's blade. "I don't know why you're here. And I don't care..." He added as he playfully tossed the stone fragment in his hand.

"But you chose the wrong day and city to crawl out of your hidey-hole," The young man continued as he caught the stone and closed his fist, causing it to disappear.

"You better get the fuck out of Gotham while I'm still inclined to let you," The young man, Grayson concluded, suddenly moving his head aside to dodge a beam of dark energy.

"IGNORANT CHILD! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO THE STONE!" Felix exclaimed as he opened his palms and raised them to the sky, causing numerous rifts to appear in the streets with a demonic creatures of all shapes and sizes walking out of them.

"Don't say I didn't warn you..." Grayson said, sighing as he extended his hand forward, causing numerous insectoid machines to appear on the ground, each sprouting a set of different weapons as they charged the demonic creatures, much to the civilian's relief.

Some people were bold enough to stand their ground, cheering as they retrieved their phones and began recording the fight with nervous, giddy expressions.

"SILENCE! YOU PATHETIC WORM!" Felix Faust exclaimed at the top of his lungs through gritted teeth as he spread his arms apart, ten dark magical circles appearing at the tip of his fingers.

The magic circles flew away from his hand and slowly turned into clones of the sorcerer, each reciting a different spell while gesturing wildly with their hands.

Grayson rolled his eyes at the sorcerer's words as he threw his axe at the furthest clone and charged the closest. Before any of the clones could react, Grayson dissipated his target with a punch, raising his hand to catch the weapon after it destroyed two more.

He closed the distance on another clone and sent its head flying with a swift swing of the leviathan axe before throwing it again. He didn't stand still as he raised his left, causing a sphere of raging flame to appear in his hand.

Grayson pushed his hand forward, shooting the sphere toward the center of the clones, where it exploded, destroying three more clones, leaving only the original and two more that the axe quickly destroyed.

He retrieved the axe and charged Felix Faust, intent on ending the fight. However, the sorcerer seemed unphased as he continued reciting his spell, only to disappear and teleport to a different spot before the weapon's edge could claim his neck.

Faust didn't seem to care for the clones either, as they were only there to buy time, and they succeeded in giving him ample time to finish reciting his spell.

"I don't know what you've done with the stone, child. But you will give it back..." The sorcerer blankly said, regarding Grayson with an icy glare through ominously glinting orbs as he gathered his bearings.

"Or you and this foul city will face my wrath!" Faust went on, joining his hands with a loud clap, to which the demons in the streets instantly burst into pieces.

The demonic blood seeped into the earth, and the streets suddenly began contorting as a giant magical circle appeared, and an equally enromous demonic hand with sharp claws emerged from within it.

"Not today," Grayson briefly remarked, frowning as he dived toward the giant hand in a hurry, axe in hand, radiating cold visible blue energy that made even Faust feel shivers run down his spine.

The sentry spiders didn't stand still as they joined together, forming a colossal, humanoid machine that quickly charged the giant demonic hand and held it in place.

Channeling his energy into the Leviathan's Axe, Grayson's body began to glow in a radiant golden hue as he reached his target and swung the godly weapon.

The weapon's edge broke through the demonic hand's skin and engulfed its entirety in chilling ice, causing it to freeze. However, Grayson did not stop as he removed the axe and punched at the open wound with a golden, glowing fist.

The hand and the ice covering it began cracking as golden light escaped through the cracks giant appendage exploded in a shower of gore and blood, staining the surrounding buildings.

Grayson let out a drawn, steamy breath as he stood amidst the carnage with the Sentry titan behind him. The golden glow worked to evaporate the blood on his body as he turned to face the sorcerer, who was watching the spectacle with utter disbelief.

"Damn it all!" Faust said, gritting his teeth in frustration as he realized the opponent outmatched him. "Mark, my words, child, you haven't seen the last of me!" The sorcerer unwillingly exclaimed as he prepared to teleport away and escape to fight another day.

"It's too late for that," Grayson blankly said, shaking his head as he flew towards the sorcerer and used his energy telekinesis to pull the latter towards him, interrupting his spell.

"I already gave you a chance to fuck off. You didn't take it," Grayson said, coldly staring into the sorcerer's eyes, holding him by the neck. "Not that I'm complaining..." He went on, grinning as he reached into the sorcerer's mind to read and extract whatever arcane knowledge the sorcerer had gathered over the millennia.
