(March 30, Year 1336)
Time flew by the moment we entered the sect, and 3 months passed in the blink of an eye.
Since we have just entered the sect, we are still ranked as D-Class Disciples. Even Alexander cannot change our current ranks but I didn't care for the ranks, only the books I could read.
There was an entire library in the underground sect that contains a lot of information about the current world, some have been hidden from the public eye. I read so many books from the library that I started to meet my family less and less, though I frequently saw Alice in the library.
A lot of boys tried to flirt with Alice since she is quite pretty and, honestly, a bit bustier than any girl her age. I didn't bother to help her since it's good for her to meet other boys her age besides our family.
I'll help her once they've gone too far, which they thankfully haven't. I would probably kill th—
Anyway, did you know that there are only a thousand books in the [Shop]? Me neither and tutorial bot forbade me from reading any more books after I finished my 400th book.
He said:
[I forbid you from reading any books from the shop, wait until you're stronger! If you use up all of those books, then you'll lose the opportunity to grow even stronger once you're in the same level as the gods. You'll need them later to gain an advantage against your future opponents. Also, train a little bit for f*ck sake! Even though your clones are working for you to grow stronger, at least train your fighting skills! Trust me, you'll need it in the future]
So, he locked the books from being bought…
It's not like I need them or anything… *sniff*.
Aside from the city, there are 8 districts that solely belong to the disciples, elders, and the patriarch.
District 8 belongs to the 4400 D-Class Disciples, District 7 belongs to the 2200 C-Class Disciples, District 6 belongs to the 600 B-Class Disciples, District 5 belongs to the 70 A-Class Disciples, District 4 belongs to the 10 S-Class Disciples, District 3 belongs to the 32 Sect Elders, District 2 belongs to the Grand Elder, and finally, District 1 belongs to the Patriarch and his successor.
District 8 is basically just a few thousand small houses that can only fit 2 people, and there aren't enough resources for the others to continue with their cultivation. The D-Class Disciples are ignored by the sect unless they are a bit talented. Most of the time, many D-Class bottlenecks in the level 8 of the Mana Gathering Stage, or even lower than that, since there aren't enough resources for them.
The only way they could get resources are either: be a servant to the sect, or be a servant to an asshole with a higher rank than theirs.
Basically, there is a goddamn hierarchy in the sect. Instead of having a peaceful harmony around the sect, they have a messed up hierarchy where the lower ranked disciples have to slave away to others just to get enough resources to advance in their cultivation.
The ones at the top are hypocrites, I've summarized.
They preach about coexistence and harmony between all races, yet they can't even have coexistence within the sect. The higher ranked ones are the people that look down on the lower rank.
But anyway, I can't bother myself to care. I will only care if they bother me but, so far, no one has come to my doors to insult me or anything.
I'm just chilling in my 15 square meter house that the sect gave to me. There's a soft sofa in the corner of the room, a bed for 1 person in the middle of the south wall with gray sheets and two pillows, a talisman that blows cold wind now and then just like air-conditioners attached to the middle of the ceiling, an open cabinet near my bed with 6 slots to put my clothes and stuff in, and a single window in my small courtyard in the front of my house. There's also a door for my bathroom in the small hallway that goes to my small kitchen.
I am living in a house that most people can only dream of, so I can't really complain about it. I'll sound like a spoiled brat if I still complain about the things I have.
I drank some milk and ate bread as I read a book about cultivation stories. I sat on the sofa, so I was being careful around the glass of milk I had since I'll have to clean it myself if I dropped some on the sofa.
*Knock* *Knock* *Knock*
Someone rapidly knocked on my door, as if they were in a hurry.
I snapped my finger as I looked at the door, and the door swung open, revealing a human teen boy who's covered with blood all over his body. I saw that there was a hole in his stomach, which I immediately realized that he had gone through cultivation deviation!
Cultivation Deviation is something that most cultivators must be careful of. Even Imprisonment Cultivators aren't safe from this because the higher the cultivation stage you have, the higher the chance for a cultivation deviation to occur.
Cultivation requires a great amount of focus, and if a cultivator doesn't focus while he cultivates, he will face consequences.
For this teen boy, however, it seems like his stomach exploded from having deviated from his cultivation since most of the mana energy a cultivator has is stored in their dantian, which is located in the stomach.
I stared at him indifferently, and said, "What do you want?"
"P-P-P-PL-EAS!! H-H-HEL-P!!" The teen said frantically as he vomited some blood, looking at me with eyes that are begging me to save him.
It seems like having a hole in his stomach had robbed him from thinking calmly; since, why would I help him? What good does that do me?
I've been careful of helping people since Delia, and, for the case of this teen, he is but a stranger to me, even if he is my neighbor.
I closed the door on him, and said, "Remember to clean the blood off my porch, or I'll be the one to kill you!"
He started banging on my door, begging to be saved, but I calmly read my book as the banging slowly stopped, and then, a few minutes later, a thud; he had died on my porch.
Goddamnit, I'll need to call the caretakers to take care of this guy's corpse.
This kind of thing is pretty common around here, especially because no one teaches D-Class Disciples how to cultivate. The sect just throws a basic cultivation manual at them and calls it a day.
It's honestly quite bad for the disciples that don't have the same privileges as I have. They can eat 3 times a day, that's for sure, but if they don't advance in their cultivation for a year, they'll be kicked out of the sect. But they'll still have their cultivation so that they'll be able to live peacefully somewhere, or they could just join some army in some kingdom and become rich, live a wealthy life with many wives, and then die of old age.
Those that live in District 8 are mostly people with no motivations other than gaining riches. It's sad how they look at life; they think that money is always the solution to everything. If they look a little deeper, they'll see how rich people spend their money; by gambling, drinking, and even criminal actions such as taking illegal drugs or trafficking.
I opened the door with a snap of my fingers and used wind magic to blow the corpse of the teen out of my porch to my front neighbor's roof.
*Woosh* *Bang!*
"What the f*ck is this!?" I heard my front neighbor yell as the corpse landed on his roof, and I closed the door quickly.
And then, I returned to reading my book.
Alright, gotta get this off my back a little.
Rank Battles are based on my favorite anime "World Trigger*. Of course, that's the end of it. I'm not going to copy the characters or anything, just how the rank wars in world trigger functions.
And I will also do some b*llshit like my own version of Susanoo from Naruto. They are called, "Elemental Avatars". Yeah, no creativity here.
But I will form Auguste's team for the rank battles, which will happen in chapter 43 that I just finished writing earlier.
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the chapter, stay well, and as always, thank you for reading!
P.S: I suck at character development.
