Befuddled Truth

It all happened so suddenly that I didn't hear the voice behind me until it was right upon me.

"Come here," the voice was like that of a siren, beautiful yet dangerous if you were to let your guard down completely. I followed the voice through the blinding light that surrounded me.

"Hello," I asked hopefully expecting a response.

There was none then my mind started to pulsate as though I were being blasted with intensively loud vibrations, I cupped my head to attempt to ease the assault. "Oh, you won't need to worry I am merely scanning your memories." I looked up and there stood right in front of me two figures stood with a majestic celestial posture proud and fearful, the other had a more calming stature more relaxed and less aggressive. I recognized the latter one to be the high Seer, but who was the other one?

"My lady, are you sure he is the one, so far I've prodded his mind and found no source or connection to the princess whatsoever." The other one spoke with a voice of inner chaos that made my mind throb even more.

"Devlin, as you must remember as explained beforehand, he only met her once when she was first born the day before he was banished from his home world." She stated.

"Bah, and might I add he doesn't know much of his past. This is more than a waste of precious time for all we know the Prin- "

"Devlin!" The High Seer Resounded cutting her cohort Devlin off.

Within that moment I felt a quick release and finally stood and looked straight a bit. I stood though still. A little in pain I called out. My voice did not follow suit I was mute. What more I could not make any full movements in any direction, I could only stare at the two. They seem to have forgotten all about me. They were in what appeared to be a deep conversation of some sort.

Then Devlin glanced at me, he raised a hand my way. With my movement locked, I could only hope that I didn't outright die, but before anything could happen the high seer placed a hand over Devlin telling him to cease. He gave what appeared like a grudging snarl and lowered his arm. He turned around and vanished.

Now I've seen a lot of different types of monsters and species but his movements and his abilities seemed more unique and rare. "please forgive him," the high seer spoke, jotting me out of my thoughts. "That is Devlin my younger Brother, sole heir to the throne of Southern Nation's Sea." I had to process that deeply as it sounded like she just said he was a God. Again I tried to respond and speak yet again could say nothing. "Jordan, I must again apologize for not explaining the current situation of where we are but you must understand time is a factor. You cannot speak here, you must utilize your minds how you may know as telepathy."

I followed suit of what was told to me and yet only managed a vaguely audible grudge. It almost felt as though I was trying to learn to speak again.

"Hmmm you are much unfocused on this matter you have to concentrate on what you want to say and next think it outward,"

I again tried to focus the thought but having Devlin speak or rather think right into my ears made nothing easy. "Madam I must again voice my opinion of his capabilities in this matter." Devlin this time offered to scold me without care.

"And I little brother have chosen him because he was chosen by the 5th Zodian." She looked directly at me as she finished. I took a glance between the two but held it back at Devlin who like me seemed confused.

"A.....Zodian?" Was all he could muster with his very undoubtedly nervous look. "But they are dead they died off long before our time."

She walked over and patted her hand over her brother's cheek, "My dear brother now this is why I had you come along there are things you must learn as well."

She then looked away from us and waved her hand through the space in front of her. A trail of shimmering crystals followed, first came a Deep Reddish colored stone, then a stone of pure Violet, and more crystals came next. Some of the hues are from dense greens others of vivid reds and finally crystals of soothing blues. When she finished waving her hand there floating over her forward flanks were over 20 Crystals. They shimmered brilliantly and provided an aura of what felt like endless energy.

"Jordan," the high seer called out. "Do you recognize any of these?"

The question was quite the assumption of me not knowing as I have been around more than this many forms of crystals. Pointing to one of them I forced out a quick and simple answer. "That one is called Pyros Ruby," it was a bright strong red crystal.

As I stood tall to get that out, I heard a rather loud snicker from beside me. Devlin was for some reason laughing at something. So, when I went out to speak against him the high seer spoke again.

"Devlin," her voice empowered but calm. Devlin shaped up fast. "Huh, Jordan though you have the correct idea of what the crystal's name is you cannot say the name properly until you are released." She waved her hand again and the crystals vanished, but I stuck on what she had said, 'released from where', it made no sense. "Jordan as I said before you were chosen by a Zodian. You have been living a life of Limbo, a life of in-between death and life you may recognize as the lack of death in this realm. This realm was created to harness you in particular." As she spoke, I tried to follow but nothing made sense to what was being heard I mean harness me for what I'm just a regular adventurer. "If you mean by regular you mean the son of Leodys."

The name struck me hard causing me to collapse to my knees as though something was pulling me into an invisible hole in the ground. "what's going on," I Managed forcefully.

I do apologize as you will learn names will have a variety of curses or even powers themselves. And to add depending on how they are used they can hinder, so much as empower." She walked over to me and knelt next to me. "Listen carefully you are about to return to your world but understand this once 'They' find out about your awakening 'They shall stop at nothing to end your very existence. From here on I implore you that you do not trust the meridians, anymore, they are not what they say. They are of the void and your evermore captures." As she spoke my vision started to fade into a bright light. "Oh, and to end with this bit of info find the girl she is a key to your escape."

And with that, I again drifted away to nothing...

Ω. Ω. Ω. Ω

A moment later I awake to rap on a door. "Hey, man you up yet we got to get going this tournament won't win itself." It was Renfo speaking.

I looked around, I was in my room but just a second ago I was with the High Seer I got up out of food and went to open my door and yes there stood Renfo looking quite smug not hiding his strong Drow features.

"The crazy meridian lady is here and it's almost time to get going what are you doing man come on." Renfo jotted. Giving me a look up and down. He seemed pretty irritated, probably due to the meridian... [Don't trust the meridians]. I started to look around when I heard a voice, Renfo throwing up an eyebrow in confusion about what I was looking for.

"Did you hear that," I decided to ask.

He gave me a rhetorical look before turning around and heading for the stairs. "Look man now is not the time for playing fun, get your head in the game, we got a tournament to win and take over."

That was weird what was that voice and... unless.

[Jordan]

I spun on the dot towards the call of my name. But found nothing about what was going on. "What is going on."

[Don't tell me you do not remember]

Remember what I thought to myself. A voice crawling through my mind. It was then a rap at my doorway that jolted me from my self-confusion. "Listen Renfo I'll be right-"halted my speech It was not Renfo standing at the doorway.

There the meridian stood with folded arms looking quite angry. But what I quickly noticed was that she was not paying any attention to me she was looking around me and in a sense through me. Could she have heard the voice I was trying to pinpoint in my head? Then seconds later without a word she turned and left.

"That was weird for sure," I whispered to myself.

[Even after explaining how you need to communicate you still don't listen how you are your father's son, I will never know do not speak to me through vocal or your mind], Once I heard this it occurred to me who was speaking in my head. It was Devlin.

[Yes, you idiot I was sent by my sister to help guide you, but it is obvious that you have a pretty swift death wish. The meridians can Sense your vocal speech], There was a pause, [when that meridian came up, he did not come to see you he came to see who you were speaking with. Not even 30 minutes and already got these things ready to shed blood.]

He was right in a sense of how he spoke, but it still didn't add up how the meridian knew to come to check things out so soon. There was an audible gasp as though someone was panting directly in my ear.

[Look] Devlin began, [The meridians are again not what you may think, they are of the void and reside here in this plain to watch you. They are not entirely your enemy, no but they are entitled to execute you if you dare to escape this realm.]

Thinking carefully as I followed what Devlin was telling me, I asked him why his sister wanted me to escape if it would get me killed.

[You will not die so long as you follow my say so. And to add do not speak of my elder sister any longer her title is not true to what you know her as in this realm. Next off to begin your escape you have to find the missing girl my sister told you of. henceforth we must search for the Hearth Stone is where you must go in search of.]

I thought for a second about where that could be, and then I somehow felt as though someone slapped me.

[Do not rush me as I explain things to you. You will head East toward the fallen Hearth Stone. Once there you shall delve deep within to find a magic flower rune and then uproot it to your final destination. That is where you will find her now before they come searching again. Go now!]
