Both Aidans look at each other in silence, and I can see Aidan trying to contain his emotions. He sighs and says "I'm Aidan." My son giggles. He thinks it is comical meeting someone else with the same name, especially someone a lot older than him. "You remember me, right?" Mrs. Hoffman asks little Aidan. He nods, smiling at her.
Aidan stands up, wincing (because of his broken rib), and slowly walks toward his room. His mom gets worried and calls him, but he doesn't answer her. "Aidan says you guys ate already, so I was thinking we could do something else, something fun for little Aidan", Mrs Hoffman kindly suggests. My mom says "sure" and then they get talking about the flight and about the weather in Chicago. I space out for a minute, and that is when I notice my son has walked in the direction of Aidan's room.
