The Assignment's Partner

Natalia Díaz, a Junior student at Orange Beach University, doesn't waste time getting involved in romantic affairs. She has worked hard to obtain the scholarship that allowed her to be in the prestigious university she attends, and she is not going to ruin her future by falling in love again. An assignment in one of her classes paired her up with Alexander Bailey, a rich, rude, nerdy snob, as she likes to describe him, from first impressions. This assignment has forced them to spend time together, and at the beginning, it seems almost impossible for them to get along, since they couldn't be more different... but sometimes different is good. Who knows, maybe different is what they have been looking for all along. The story is written from both of the main characters' perspectives (Natalia's and Alexander's).

I Don't Feel Like Dancing Anymore

Alexander

"Come dance with me!" I say to Natalia, who looks a little exhausted by the social interactions she has been enduring since my mother called me requiring our presence. Natalia is not used to mingling in this type of circle. Her circle is more relaxed, a little wilder and a lot younger than this crowd. I have to give her a lot of credit, because she has been doing well, considering she is out of her element. Natalia has not complained to me, not one bit. My girlfriend is adaptable, a real trooper!

She smiles at me, relieved that I am taking her away from the old man undressing her with his eyes while he pretends to care about the conversations they are having with Mike and some of his fellow politicians. Don't get me wrong, the topic is very interesting, but not too interesting to keep her engaged while she feels like a piece of meat in front of that perverted grandpa.
