Newton kicked the door open, wafting the smoke with his hands. He saw Zed seated on the bed as if he cared about nothing in the world including the choking smoke that had filled the room.
"We need to leave Zed. The palace is under siege," he said walking towards him.
"You should have let me die," Zed said, looking at the wall blankly.
"You know I can't do that. Here, let me help you," he said grabbing him by the waist to help him stand.
"Let me guess," he said supporting his frame with Newton's shoulders. "You saved the girl first, and then her mother, didn't you?"
Newton looked at him for a moment but chose not to answer. They walked out of the room with Zed groaning in pain, his smoke infested eyes looking bloody red.
"You can't answer that, can you?" He asked once they were outside.
"I'll take you to safety," Newton said avoiding his questions.
