Chapter 15: Time to come clean and face the truth

I know most of the Assassins in this room, yet I’ve never socialized with them. Even with my own men, I keep my distance, which I guess has its own irony considering that I’m the same way with my personal life.

Ewan stops next to me, hands me a drink, and takes a sip of his own as he observes the gathering. “Is this one of the first meetings you’ve come to, big brother?” He asks quizzically.

I nod my head and take a swig of my own drink. “Yeah. How about you?” Ewan shrugs. “This is my first time as well. I’ve been busy with missions out of the country until recently. It’ bloody disconcerting to see how close they are. I’ve heard that they’re all married to very beautiful women.”

I chuckle at Ewan’s awed tone. “Yeah, I’ve seen them. They’re all friends with Jaxon’s wife, Maleah.”
