The Aspiring Swordsman

Dallas is now a young man who has transferred from Earth to Oiturn. And has now perfected magic, however magic is useless unless utilized to defend those he cares about. Dallas is similarly perplexed by the question, "Who are my parents?" And who or what exactly is Grandmother Judith? Little did he realize that one species, the Elves, would soon solve all of his troubles.

Unique...

(Alright, so Mr. Ligier said, that I should try and inflict as much damage as possible. And I only know to other fire projectile spells using chanting. Although this may not be professional, I've always wondered, what would happen if I chanted within my head.)

"(Fire obeys my instruction, absorbing all sources of connection. Now push the heat away from my body! Temperature Discharge!)" The temperature in the room dropped as Dallas considered the phrases he would need to cast his spell.

Dallas's entire body was glowing with warmth. His body heat burst forth in the shape of a sphere towards the dummy as he contemplated the spell's second order. When the sphere of heat made contact with the metal dummy, it melted the lower half of the dummy's body while setting fire to the dummy's surroundings.

(Good, Mr. Ligier was not harmed by the first portion of the spell, regardless of the fact that I was targeting the upper half of its body.) What are you doing, get out of the flames! Earl yelled as he dashed to the wall for a fire extinguisher. Which was labeled "Open if required or during fire alarm."

"Oh, don't worry about me, my Grandmother always places a Fire Protection Enchantment onto my clothes." Dallas said as Earl began putting out the flames. You know what, you really are one weird kid.

Why would a child like you pick The Knight Academy over a school like Mage Education? I'm simply here to study swordsmanship, after all, so I really have no intention of becoming a knight or a magician. So you're a one-of-a-kind privileged kid?

I don't think I am, my Grandma and I used to live outside the kingdom walls, in a cottage in the woods. Dallas, who is your grandma, given that you grew up outside the walls and in the woods?" Earl said growing more and more confused by the second.

Ah, for as long as I can remember I would always call her Grandmother Judith, I hope that helps. Judith, Judith, why does that name sound so familiar? Wait a minute, you mean the women that worked side by side with the king, and then disappeared without a trace?!

So she taught you magic, and thanks to her, I'm no longer afraid of what I witnessed here today. Although others would argue that it's a bit unusual for a kid with outstanding magical talents to enter a school of knights. But, Mr. Ligier, what's the harm in being unique?

Of course, nothing, I was simply voicing my opinion. Okay, we don't have much more time; I'm only given ten minutes per individual. Your strike inflicted a total of sixty damage, according to the dummy. However, you would infect burns and the subject would be left in a blaze, so there is some after harm to consider as well.

Now I'll put your defensive skills to the test. I'd like you to cast your most powerful Earth defense spell. However, if you, like many others, dodge the attack, you will be granted a zero for this portion. "Ok, now Mr. Ligier, what kind of attack will I be facing?" Dallas inquired in the hopes of having a head start and more time to consider what would be best employed for said attack.

You will be put to the test against a recently discovered magic. This is the first of its kind, yet it is also the first to be directly incorporated into technology. This new type of technology are known as Magical Items, and it is comparable to dungeon Artifacts.

Alright, like you've said before, I'll cast my strongest defensive spell. "Minerals, which we use today, are extracted from beneath. Now, I implore you to obey my command, conjure Dreitine to my request!"

The planet Oiturn's strongest mineral was summoned under Dallas's feet as he instructed. Which expanded to cover his entire body, creating tiny air holes in the process. It's not every day that someone sees Dreitine and seeing it used in this way.

Dreitine is well recognized for being found on Oiturn's lowest levels. It takes days of mining to crack the mineral. Such is resistant to all Elemental elements, but not many others.

"All right, this right here is a Magical Item imbued with the recently found Ice magic." Earl remarked as he snatched the light blue metallic ball off the wall, which contained a slew of other odd-looking items.

Although this is somewhat confidential, Magical Items in order to properly function require Mana crystals. Now Mana Crystals, are pure see through crystals, that can be found underground. Mana Crystals soak up any form of magic they can get their hands on, and they store the magic never letting go of it.

"Now, that's the most of what I can give you, but if you find yourself wishing you knew more, simply contact me when and if you acquire level three clearance." After Earl finished speaking, a weird beep sound could be heard throughout the room. "All right, let's see what this baby's capable of!"

Earl remarked this as the ball began to glow and a major Ice spike was sent towards Dallas. The spike shattered into small ice pieces as it collided with the Dreitine. Those shards were then hoisted into the air and charged into Dallas, reducing them to atoms.

Well, who would have guessed, Ice doesn't even stand a chance against Dreitine. Although I had high hopes for it, although it's still being tested for great used, logic is logic. "Unless theoretically there was a way to pack the ice before firing it off."

Earl mumbled to himself as the Dreitine returned from Dallas and back into the ground. However Dreitine was left on the floor instead of white paint colored flooring. Alright Mr. Ligier, how did I do?

"I'm calculating your ultimate score right now, Dallas." Earl was speaking while entering numbers into a weird handheld gadget. Okay, Dallas. You've earned Level two clearance, and your magical score is the greatest among those I've tested today.

Your Key card will now be used in two ways: to get entry and as a form of identity. The key card will display your name, age, strength, picture, and magical rank. Consider it a combination of an identification card and a key card.

Before you go, I'll have to snap a short photo and get it incorporated into the card's design. Mr.Ligier, hold on a second! You still haven't notified me about the Mage rating system or my current position! And what's this thing about a picture, just what is it?

"When your card is delivered to you, I'll include a list of details." Earl stated as he took a picture of Dallas' perplexed look. AHH? "All right, Dallas, you're free to explore the school; make sure you see everything before your required access to particular areas tomorrow!"Earl stated this as he escorted Dallas out of the room with all white walls and black tables.

WHEN WILL DALLAS GET HIS ANSWERS ON PHOTOS & MAGE RANKINGS?!
