13 Chapter 12

She teleported over to Stark mansion just in time to see Stark falling from his building. She was so startled that she failed to catch him.

However, it turned to be all right with his armor coming out of the building. He managed to get back up and flew straight to the sky.

She just stared at him. 'What exactly had happened?', she thought to herself.

She just saw Stark leaving when she teleported over yet here he was falling out of his building. Suddenly, the world felt absurd to her.

She was never in time for any battle even when she had the powers to teleport. The only thing she managed was to save people and nothing much of the rest.

Teleportation should have been instant, yet she seemed to take a longer time. It wasn't a few seconds or minutes. It was nearly half an hour.

'Maybe, maybe it depends on the distance', she tried to reassure herself as she tried to bury her thoughts. But they were now gushing out like spring.

There was a reason nobody felt close to her. Even people like Coulson and Natasha whom she first knew were treating more like a familiar person rather than a friend or a comrade in arms. She thought of it as normal due to her presence as a firekeeper.

Even the Ashen one, had never actually talked to her and communicate with her in gestures. She has become too accustomed to the silence. So much that she could no longer tell how much talking was normal.

Just then, a blue of energy light up into the sky. Humanoid beings rushed inside the portal. They were preparing to attack everything they saw when they were greeted with the modern firepower of Tony Stark.

He destroyed many but even he with all his technologies could not destroy everything. After all, he was but one man facing up against an army.

In fact, she wondered how making six people will even face against an army that roams in the outer void of space itself. The chitauri stated firing at everything they can.

It filled her with sadness to see how many people would be slaughtered in Loki's glorious purpose of getting recognized. Once he started killing, there would be no salvation for him.

So, for the people and for Loki himself, she decided to protect the entire city. She lifted one of her legs and stepped it on the ground.

A circular pattern of magic spread out and tendrils of fire started sprouting from all over the city. They attacked any chitauri that came close to the ground. She managed to contain most of them. It is making her more and more tired as she expanded her energy.

Some of them managed to stay alive and came straight for her. She conjured up a scythe made of flames spun it back and forth killing anything that came close to her.

It was only due to the memories of Crossbreed Priscilla that she managed not to maul herself with the scythe.

By then, the captain and the rest had arrived. They split up while paying her almost no heed. She supposed that she was only required to heal the injuries of every person in the city.

Even if the captain assigned her some tasks, she was unlikely to complete it due to her intense concentration needed in trying to prevent every single causality. Horde after horde followed. Eventually, the big ones came out. They resemble giant slugs. Of course, the Avengers managed to beat it somehow.

By now, she has excluded herself from the Avengers. They moved as a team. She, however, was not part of the team. She tried not to feel hurt, but it was proving difficult as any living being would have hurt from being excluded.

Eventually, just when Nat tried to close the portal, she sensed a weapon of immense power heading straight for her. It seems to be a nuke, but the rest of the team realized it too. It seems that Stark knew about the information and informed all of them.

She did not even have a receiver to hear what Stark was talking about. She thought she would have to create a barrier strong enough to withstand the immense mortal weapon but it Stark simply grabbed it and flew straight into the portal.

She sensed an immense explosion on the other side of the portal when Nat started closing the portal. Just before the portal was completely shut, Stark fell out of the portal. He appeared to be unconscious.

She tried to teleport over by she felt her instincts flare up. She teleported when Stark went out and arrived when Stark was already falling from his mansion. What time will she arrive once she teleport this time?

So she simply used pure speed to catch his midair and slow down as they both fell. She landed in a graceful posture and took of his mask. He was still unconscious.

She generated a ball of fire in her hands and struck it against Stark causing him to wake up.

"What the hell? What just happened? Please tell me nobody kissed me."

This caused everyone to sigh out of relieve.

"Did you kiss me? Not to mind, but I would be glad if you did", said Stark while looking at her in a strange way.

"I merely pushed a ball of flame into thy chest. Do tell me if thou wish to experience it once again."

"Never mind then, so we won?", asked Stark.

"We won" said the captain reassuring him.

"Alright, Hey. Alright. Good job, guys. Let's just not come in tomorrow. Let's just take a day. You ever tried shawarma? There's a shawarma joint about two blocks from here. I don't know what it is, but I wanna try it."

"We're not done yet" said Thor after which they all went to capture Loki.

They then went on to eat this food called 'shawarma'. It was a strange food that she has never had.

Thor went back with Loki and the Tesseract. She went back to her humble and peaceful Church. They all went back to their home waiting for the day they may be needed yet again.

Before Loki went back, she had a private talk with Loki. It was more like her talking while he listened since he was still silenced with a muzzle.

"Nobody died in this war. So, if thou wish for redemption, it is not too late yet. If thou wishes to be recognized by thy kin, thou needn't start a war, I suggest thee to accept thyself and the rest will follow. Thou needn't play tricks to get accepted. Seek strength and the rest will follow. I know that this sounds absurd, but people would rather follow a strong and brave king rather than a weak and tricky one. Seek strength and the rest will follow."

She then got back up and looked at him as he sat down contemplating something. He was no god but she wished for the message to stick with him.

"Farewell, Loki; God of magic and trickery, "may'st thou thy peace discov'r."
