Nightless Dome

Keith gained three skills when he evolved and an additional one after he absorbed Chiron's core. He stared at his screen intently— both in disbelief and excitement.

<Nightless Dome>

Ultimate Skill

Summons a shield that covers up to 1km in radius. The shield is invincible on one side, but brittle on the other. The user can decide where the sides are placed.

Keith's knowledge of the battle against Chiron widened after he learned this skill. The Demon created two shields that faced each other. The sides that faced each other were the brittle sides, therefore the sides that faced away were unbreakable.

It was a perfectly executed plan, especially since Chiron wanted to ambush the Hunters inside the dome. He was powerful enough to match an S-rank Hunter like Angel, so he was able to defeat everyone inside the dome. His only miscalculation was Keith. He did not expect a Demon King like Keith would be there.

The man stared at his hands, thinking about the words that Chiron had said to him. He still had his consciousness after he evolved, but it was like a dream. His body moved on its own as if he were being guided by his instincts.

"My powers were sealed," Keith said. "Was it that time?"

He closed his eyes to try and remember the only memory he had of his childhood. It was a windy night, and blood was splattered on the floor as he saw his parents lie face down— both dead. A man walked towards him and muttered something under his breath, but then Keith screamed.

That was where the memory stopped. Something must have happened between him and that man that he could not recall.

"Earth to Keith?"

Keith was woken from his thoughts when Johnny spoke. He turned to face the man who was looking at him worriedly. "I'm sorry. What was it?"

"Angel asked me to tell you something," Johnny said. "It's about what happened. Look, he doesn't want to steal the spotlight, but he had no other choice. It was for your own good."

Keith smirked. "I know. I heard about Demon Kings and we're not something that the Union likes."

"Do you know the myth of the Demon King?" Johnny asked.  "Angel told me about it."

Keith listened as Johnny told him the myth. It was about the first Demon King one hundred years ago, back when the Union was not created and the Hunters acted on their own as guilds. The Demon King was one of the top Hunters and was also a guildmaster of his own guild.

He was capable of defeating as many high-rated Dungeons faster than most guilds could, sometimes all by himself. He was jumping from Dungeon to Dungeon, clearing them all with ease. This brought glory to his guild, and his name was known all throughout the world.

But his fate was sealed even before he was born. At a single moment in one of his raids, his Demon powers were unleashed and swallowed his humanity. The Demon King wrecked havoc, killing all of the Hunters inside the Dungeon and the Demon who opened it.

He replaced the Demon and became the worst catastrophe in the world. Hundreds of S-rank Hunters allied to defeat him, but all of them died in his hands. It wasn't until the second Demon King appeared that he finally had a match.

The two of them fought until the both of them had fallen. The two Demon Kings killed each other and took the world with them. The loss was so great that the Union was established through the guilds that united to seek equality and a proper distribution of power.

Johnny sighed. "The Demon Kings' identities and the fact that they existed were hidden from the world. Angel only got this information because one night Judge Simmons was drunk and he asked her everything he was curious about."

"I'm a living disaster," Keith whispered. "If I just go ahead and wreck havoc when the time comes, kill me now, Johnny. I don't want to be the Demons that we pledge to kill."

"You won't," Johnny laughed. "The ones that could turn are those who have not received the same special process that you had, Keith. Your powers were sealed for a long time. Your humanity had already settled in with your Demon powers. They have merged. The first and second Demon Kings were only seven when they fought. It was such a tragedy."

"They were too young," Keith said. "But Johnny, I don't want to let anyone else to know."

"The only ones who know are the three of us," Johnny said. "Angel did the most sacrifice to hide this. He revealed his true rating so the press would eat up his words like they were facts. It would be too suspicious if the spotlight was placed on us since we're too weak."

"I have to thank Angel," Keith said. "He was an asshole, but at least he's not a senseless asshole."

"That leads me to another thing," Johnny said. "The three of us have to never see each other again. We can see each other when we enter a Dungeon but visits and talks are not allowed. The Union would get suspicious."

Keith raised his head and looked at the ceiling. "This is bullshit, but I agree."

"Alright," Johnny smiled. He excused himself not long after, leaving Keith alone with his thoughts. He looked around and saw that he was in a rather large room, complete with a television and a living room set.

He stood and walked towards Heath, who was sleeping. Keith kneeled and raised his palm to point at the dog. "Nightless Dome."

A bluish black ring appeared around Heath. The dog noticed it and raised its head, just in time for the dome to be raised from the ground. It was a pale bluish black dome that was translucent and barely tinted with color. Keith placed his hand on the dome and held it.

"It's strong," he said. He held out his hand and tried to punch the dome, only for his punch to be deflected. "Ouch!"

Heath tilted its head to the side. It barked and pounced on the dome, which instantly shattered into thousands of pieces. Keith laughed at the scene. The shards of the dome that shattered like glass vanished into thin air, and his dog approached him with its tongue out.

"That was good, Heath," Keith laughed. "You're such a good boy."

Keith trained himself with the dome skill. He could make a lot more use of the dome than the shield or trap. Since the dome's size depended on his will, he could summon small and large domes with ease. The only problem for him was his inexperience. He wasn't able to summon more than one dome or summon one in the air to be used as a stepping stone.

"This is interesting," Keith chuckled, and he continued to summon more domes. "And fun too."

"Warning, a Wild Dungeon has appeared in F district!"
