Unforeseen Effect

After Leus tried to unlock the Abstract of Fluidity he realized something.

There was a glaring issue that the book said nothing about.

As soon as Leus tried to force his joint to bend abnormally, it snapped.

Controlling Water Mana wasn't hard for Leus, he was already an expert in it.

However, controlling it in such a delicate way wasn't remotely easy.

'That bitch ... the least she could do was to warn us!'

Leus quickly cast the spell Restore on his elbow, fixing it.

All it took was a wrong turn and his bones or joints would suddenly fracture.

Leus quickly cast Restore and fixed it, again ...

Leus cast Light-Shield on his entire body, so if any bone got fractured it'd be immediately healed.

Sure, Leus would get healed faster, but he would still feel the initial pain

'This is an Abstract for knights, and they, of course, don't know Light Spells.

How do they unlock it? Do they torture themselves for it? or do they do it beside a hospital?'

Leus ground his teeth, this time his knee joints snapped.

'Such a hellish torment'

Luckily, the spell worked almost immediately after his joints broke and fixed it

'I need a spell to cut off pain receptors or something'

Sadly, Leus didn't know how to create such a spell, or if it was even possible

Despite the immense pain, Leus never thought for a second about giving up

The idea that someone out there was probably trying to unlock the same Abstract without a concentrated Water Mana Barrier and various Light Spells to support him made Leus feel motivated.

When he imagined others going through harder times, his own problems didn't seem as bad.

And like that, Leus remained resolutely breaking, snapping, cracking, and fracturing his bones.

After the 15th time or so, Leus started getting used to the one or two seconds of pain. He no longer screamed, but he still groaned

Leus didn't know how much time had passed, but he knew that

He had to constantly re-apply the Light-Shield spell while keeping the Abstract of Levitation active all the time.

As more time passed and more Mana was consumed, Leus began feeling hungry.

This definitely wasn't the experience Leus expected for an element he was attuned with

'Wasn't there another Abstract? Man, I miss Ice ...'

Time passed, and more bones cracked.

Leus almost understood how everything worked

'Every single limb/bone needs the Water Mana to work differently, it's not just about throwing water in there, there's also something else'

Leus realized that he didn't really know much about the anatomy of his body

'What's it called? Arthrology?'

There were way more details other than just (Using Water Mana as a cushion) as the book said.

'That was the most useless book I've read in my whole life, if that bitch remains the Supreme Librarian for long, the future of libraries in this kingdom is doomed.'

Anyway, apart from Leus' complaints, there was something important

'For example, when I want to move my knee, I don't only need to use the Water Mana around my knee joints. No, it has to be also added around my lower leg bone and my thigh bone.'

It was a complicated process, something that needed a lot of focus and concentration.

Leus' knowledge about the structure of his body greatly improved.

At this point, Leus was confident that he wouldn't break anything anymore.

The feeling of power was so exhilarating!

Leus felt that he was getting closer and closer to unlocking the Abstract.

Still, Leus decided to be on the safe side and activate Light-Shield again

With a smirk on his face, Leus took a deep breath then began surrounding each bone, joint, and muscle in his neck with Water Mana, then began rotating it.
