The Archivist's Ploy: A Tale of One Against The World

Far above the horizon, beyond the clouds and the apocalyptic storms under it, hovered a yellow-haired old-looking man. His yellow eyes gave off a bright radiance, and countless books floated around him. Throughout history, the man was known by many names, (The Watcher - The Chronicler - The Historian - The Custodian - The Recordkeeper) But during this Era, he was known as The Archivist. The Archivist's perception inspected thousands of kilometers far and wide, Yet 'Nothing interesting is happening' His frustration grew 'What's the point of a worldwide perception if there's no apposite change to perceive?' 'The world has become mundane' 'And no one is doing anything about it' Ergo, The Archivist will take matters into his own hands 'I'll orchestrate a worldwide, All-embracing scheme against an oblivious individual' With a sinister smile on his face, he devised his plan 'Turn the entire world into a person's antagonist, Then enjoy the show' And he had the perfect plot for it 'First, Utter Despair that would cause immense Pain' 'Then, More Despair that would turn the Pain to Loathe' 'Then, As the Loathe grows, The Despair will transform into Rage' 'The Rage will make the Being Crave Revenge, and the intense Crave will result in Devotion to his goal' 'Finally, The Despair, Pain, Loathe, Crave, and Devotion will all be used as fuel for the Rage, Transforming it into an even extremer emotion' "WRATH" How would a single person unleash his Wrath against the entire world? 'That's what I'm going to find out' "AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA" The Archivist's maniacal laughter echoed loudly 'The world is about to be entertaining' He looked up and asked with a reverberating, Bleak voice "Who will be the unlucky one?"

Tiers 2

After Leus processed the information Ignatius gave him, Ignatius continued

"That raises a couple of questions:

- Why don't people try to reach the highest tier possible before evolving?

- What's the point of advancing my Tier if I can just evolve and work on it later?

- Why can't knights, or to be more accurate, Sword/Physical or generally Non-Magicians reach higher than Tier B?"

He took a sip of his coffee and continued

"Let me answer one by one.

First, why don't people try to reach the highest Tier?

Naturally, because it's not easy at all.

It could take so much time that it becomes not worth it, and also it's generally accepted that the more time you spend in a Realm, the harder it becomes to Evolve out of it."

Ignatius paused for a moment then continued

"It also relates to the human nature.

Increasing your Tier doesn't grant you that massive of a reward compared to advancing Realms, some might consider it not worthy of their time, especially since the information regarding this matter, here and in other kingdoms too, is very sparse.

Most of the general populace isn't even aware of Tiers and how they function, so how will they work on improving something that they don't know exists?

Of course, everyone knows that if you unlock more Abstracts and Skills you become stronger, but that's the extent of their knowledge, they have no depth.

And well, some people just don't care; No matter how strong an Elite is, he's still an Elite, right?"

Leus asked

"So, I guess most of those who try to increase their Tier are people stuck in their Realm? Unable to advance but still want to become stronger?"

Ignatius nodded

"Most, yes, but not all.

That's how most Librarians became A-Tier Elites without even knowing that it existed, they just couldn't evolve to become Royal but still kept trying to be more powerful."

Ignatius' voice became bitter

"Sadly, after reaching A tier, there's nothing else for them to do, they just remain stuck in their Tier and Realm until their longevity runs out."

Ignatius quickly fixed his voice and expression and continued

"Secondly, what's the point of advancing Tiers if I can directly Advance Realms?

Let me break it down for you; the significance is consequential.

Advancing your Tier not only makes you significantly stronger than your peers and allows you to get better jobs, but it also helps you in the next Realm."

Leus' interest was piqued

"How so?"

"First of all, and this is something that no one knows except a select few, no one in Tier D can evolve, ever. It's simply impossible because of how Tiers function"

Ignatius elaborated

"Advancing in Realms makes you drop down a Tier:

- If a Tier C Knight evolved, he would become a Tier D Elite Knight.

- If a Tier B Mage evolved, he would become a Tier C Elite Mage.

And so on.

Thus, if a Tier D Mage evolved, what would he become? There's no Tier below D, so he can't drop a Tier because he's already at the lowest.

So no matter how much he tries, a Tier D individual would never evolve.

That's why advancing your Tier is very important, not only does it give you a headstart in the next Realm, but it might also stop you from evolving completely"

Leus had many questions to ask, but Ignatius continued again

"As for the last question; Why can't Non-Magicians reach higher than Tier B?

We have no clue.

Perhaps the quality of their mana doesn't rise because they focus on their body and use little Mana? Perhaps practicing Magic increases the Mana Quality somehow? We aren't really sure, but we know for a fact that Elite and Royal Knights never reached anything beyond Tier B, ever."

Ignatius took a pause, so Leus asked in a polite tone

"If I may ask, what Tier are you, Duke?"

Leus didn't ask about Arno's because he already knew of it

'He's a Librarian, and Ignatius said that all Librarians are A-Tier'

Ignatius casually replied

"If a Royal is Tier D then he's nothing special in the Capital, some of them are rich and from noble families, so they end up as patriarchs, leading their family.

But for one to have any serious political influence, one must reach Tier C, which gives you the chance to become a Duke.

If a Royal reaches Tier B then he could become a Grand Duke, a Minister, or both, it depends on the Royal's loyalty to the Kingdom, his value, and the ministry that he might lead.

Tier A is Royals are extremely rare, and naturally, they hold the highest positions, such as Ministers of the most important ministries, The Prime Minister, etc."

Ignatius looked deeply into Leus' eyes and said

"But you know, this is not everything"

Leus tilted his head

"Really? There is more? I thought you explained everything."

"There's the most important part, but Leus"

"Yes?"

'*You are not a child, so you must understand*'

The transmission took Leus by surprise, he almost flinched

Ignatius continued normally

"The information I told you about is classified, you must never say it to anyone, even your father. And what I'm going to tell you about right now is even more classified, only a select few of the select few are aware of it, mainly floor leaders and similar positions."

Leus nodded

"I won't say anything to anyone"

Ignatius knew that Leus was telling the truth, so he continued

"The Tiers from D to A are not the only ones, there is one more"

Leus became interested

'He already said that there's nothing below D, so it must be above A, is it A+?'

Ignatius' voice cut Leus' thoughts

"You see, in Mortals, there are no Tiers, they're all equally weak and fragile, and once they become strong, they evolve to become Soldiers.

However, in Soldiers, some claimed that there are more than just 4 Tiers.

They said that there's a fifth Tier. Which is called: The Mythical S Tier

The characteristics of Tier S are very special:

- Tier S individuals can easily defeat people in a Realm above them if they're Tier D, and they're as powerful as Tier C individuals of the higher realm."

Leus asked

"Why is it called Mythical?"

"Because it's a Myth, no one has actually seen a Tier S individual, we did hear about the existence of Tier S Soldiers in the Capital, and we did get results of research, but we have not seen it, it's all ink on paper.

On top of that, the existence of Tier S above the Realm of Soldiers isn't even confirmed, it may or may not exist ... at least that's how it was"

Leus raised his eyebrow

"Was?"

Ignatius nodded

"Yeah, was. Something changed"

"What is it?"

Ignatius smirked

"We found you."
