Leaving for rift city

Ethan had to step in for the third time now, and Savannah was about done with my lack of progress today as well. I didn't make the room cold when I was angry anymore so awesome, but I was nowhere near up to Savannah's level. Savannah kept insisting I had to be at least close to her level to not get killed when I did get found out. I was hoping I just never got found out. They'd know something was up the instant they looked at my genetic profile.

Ethan, and I had settled into the amount of emotion we could now feel from each other. It wasn't like we were reading each other's minds, but it gave us a great deal of insight into how we were each feeling. I got the feeling that Ethan was using my emotional intrusion to help bury his fear. I could still hypnotize his fear away if I needed to, and he knew that, but it seemed like he was trying to respect my wishes at least a little. That made me happy when I wasn't as angry as I was now.

"I can't do this anymore," I yelled at her, "Not today. I'm tired, and this isn't exactly easy to learn."

"We leave for rift city tomorrow," Savannah yelled back, "Even with the amount of control you've gained so far there's a chance you'll be caught."

"A chance!" I felt Ethan grab my arm, "You want me to do what exactly. Train all night just because there's a chance they might notice me if they're looking right at me."

"Why are you so confident that they'll overlook you?" Savannah's volume was starting to come down slowly.

"I'll be standing next to you," I was forcing myself to slow my breathing down, "They'll just assume any mana coming from the two of us is coming from you, and that's if one of the four greats comes to greet us themselves. I don't know if you've noticed, but the more powerful someone is the more arrogant they are, and the less attention they pay to the people below them."

Savannah looked like she wanted to slap me. I wanted to punch her so at least we were both frustrated. That made me feel a little better.

"I'm hungry," I pulled my arm out of Ethan's grip, "I'm going to get dinner, and then I'm going to bed. I will not be doing any more training tonight, or in the morning. I need a little free time away from you."

I made a point of looking at Savannah.

"We leave tomorrow after classes," Savannah rounded on me, "We won't have time to practice anymore after tonight."

"I need a break from you Savannah," I snapped as my temper flared again, "You're on my last nerve right now. I'm don't have the patience to learn a god damned thing from you right now."

I stormed out of the room with Ethan on my heels. We managed to get to the elevator without Savannah on our heels. I yelled, and punched the elevator wall out of frustration. Leaving a small fist sized dent in the elevator wall. I just stood there breathing heavily until the elevator stopped.

As soon as the elevator stopped I pushed off the wall putting my normal blank face before the doors even opened. Ethan was worried about me. I could tell through our bond that he was scared of what was going to happen when we went to rift city. I knew he would be fine since he'd been steadily overcoming his fear in his club. It wasn't that his fear was going away.

He was just able to function despite being terrified of the people around him. I hoped that he'd be able to overcome that fear eventually, but phobias didn't just go away because you wanted them to. Savannah came down to the cafeteria after us. She gave me a dirty look the whole time we were eating. I finished my food quickly, and left without giving her the chance to guilt trip me into practicing some more. I went straight into my room, and slammed the door closed behind me.

I wasn't in the mood for idle talk tonight. I threw off my clothes as I switched forms quickly. I looked at my wings, and extended them slowly. I wanted to test them out. To fully extend them without worrying about trashing the walls.

I snorted angrily to myself as I curled up slowly on the bed. Letting myself calm down enough to doze off on the bed. I kept riling myself up in bed, and I woke with a start several times. By the time the alarm woke me the next morning I was an irritated ball of nerves. I just wanted to go back to sleep, but I couldn't.

I had to get up, because today we were headed to rift city. I had to be alert for what was going to happen today or at least what was going to happen at the end of today. I slept through most of the days classes as usual. I was only about half awake for lunch. We were supposed to go to our club rooms instead of our normal fitness class.

I was practically a zombie by the time Savannah found me, and drug me to the club room. I sat down, and focused just on keeping my eyes open as Goliath repeated the important information from the info link he'd sent us Sunday. I'd read it twice so Goliath's lecture didn't hold my attention very well. Savannah startled me back to awareness as we took our place towards the back of the line.

"How much sleep did you get?" Savannah whispered in my ear.

"Not enough," I almost chuckled as my mind flashed back to exactly how much sleep I needed to feel aware for an entire sixteen hour day.

She kept me walking the right direction since I couldn't focus, and kept trying to walk out of line. As soon as we were seated in our pairs on the bus my eyes drifted closed. System maintain my camouflage.

System will maintain camouflage.

Good. Was my last coherent thought before I fell asleep on the bus.
