5 Camouflage

My body started changing immediately. It felt so weird as my body grew in size. My limbs shifting, and my neck getting shorter. It felt like I was living playdough being reformed into something else. What would I look like when it was all done?

My limbs felt weak, and my brain felt like it had gotten heavier, but how could my brain get heavier? The whole process didn't take very long, but it winded, and exhausted me. After it was all done I breathed in deeply, and looked down at my hands. My human hands?

Some stats have been reduced while camouflaged

strength 10

agility 10

instinct 5

stamina 10

damage resistance 5

-10 mana remaining reserve 20. Currently unable to generate mana while spell is being used more skill required.

I stood up slowly on human legs, and gripped the counter as my balance returned. I looked at my reflection carefully, and realized that I looked like myself. Except for my eyes. My right one now had flecks of golden yellow in the brown, and my left was no longer an empty socket. It was still that icey blue silver color.

They looked like normal human eyes for the most part. My senses hyper focused to a brief second. Someone's coming for me. Private Bowers!

I glanced down, "Shit! I'm naked."

I rushed out of the bathroom, and grabbed my clothes off the floor. My shirt was completely shredded, and my pants, and underwear were torn as well. I pulled a drawer out from under my bed, and yanked a pair of underwear out. I was yanking my underwear into place with one hand as I yanked a pair of pants out with the other. My pants required both hands so I yanked them on quickly as the door lock clicked.

I tried to button them with one hand as I grabbed my destroyed clothes, and shoved them into the garbage. Then I stood up straight as if I hadn't been doing anything as the door opened. Private Bowers stood there with the manager. Staring at me. Private Bowers was a big man.

Not tall, but the pure muscle was obvious under his uniform.

"Cadet," Private Bowers voice snapped as he shook his head slowly, "I gave you five minutes. What the hell have you been doing?"

"I slept in sir," I felt my heart beat pick up a notch.

Every fiber of my being hoped he wouldn't notice something off. He walked in, and shoved me out of the room. I panicked for a second before I was hit in the face with a clean shirt from my drawer. He kicked my shoes at me. Completely ignoring the trash as I yanked my shoes on.

He bent over slowly. Which made my heart uptick again as I felt the blood rush to my head. He picked up my key card, and handed it to the manager.

"Time to go kid," Private Bowers shoved me towards the elevator as I tried to get my shirt on.

I relaxed a little as we got further, and further from my room. Once my shirt was on it was easier to keep ahead of him. I stepped into the elevator. I flinched to the right as the elevator door closed. I wasn't used to having two eyes so everything on my left felt uncomfortably close. Private Bowers clamped his hand down on my shoulder tight enough that it hurt.

Damage resistance is higher than attack power. no damage taken.

"You're hurting me," I turned my head to the right so I could see him over my shoulder.

His grip loosened a smidge, but he didn't let go. The pain vanished. I guess I know what the damage resistance stat does now. The elevator doors opened, and I was manhandled across the lobby. Out the door to the bus we went. The windows were covered so we couldn't see anything outside.

Didn't want us finding our way back home. I glanced down the line of buses quickly. The bus I was getting on was towards the back of the line. I stepped onto the bus willingly, and sat down in one of the few available seats at the front. There was another private sitting alone in front of me, and the guy driving the bus was also military.

"Hey look it's cyclops," Conrad's voice rang out from somewhere towards the back.

I grabbed the back of the seat, and turned my head to the left so I could look at his big dumb face. I wanted to beat the shit out of him. For a split second his eyes met my one, and time seemed to stop for just a second just for the two of us as we stared at each other before he broke eye contact.

New skill unlocked. Murderous intent level 1.

Skill allows user to project the intent to do harm across space through eye contact.

I settled down in my seat, and focused both eyes on the floor in front of my feet. I debated on looking at Conrad again since I could've sworn he had gone a little pale when I looked at him, but I decided that was a bad idea. Conrad, and Billy loved to publicly crush people when they could. I'd already drawn to much attention to myself. I squirmed a little in my seat.

Even though I was back in my normal body it felt kind of wrong. If I had a tail right now it would probably be whipping back, and forth from distress. I wanted to ask the system more questions, but I couldn't say them out loud since I would look crazy talking to myself. Could I talk to the system with my thoughts?

System detects desire to communicate through thought transmission. Would you like to enable thought transmission from system to user?

(Yes) (No)

Yes. I squinted my eyes a little as I thought as hard as I could.

System can now answer queries through thought transmission when user asks system directly.

What are you? No response. I tapped my foot in frustration as a kid slid in next to me on the seat. Hello? Again no response.

Time to try something else. System, What are you?

System is an extinction reversal aid. System is designed to bond to a compatible user, and aid with users growth after transforming user into set extinct species.

I could feel cold sink into me. System, are you telling me there's no one in the world like me?

System can only become active when all of set species mana ceases to exist.

Wait mana? It had said I used mana to turn back into myself earlier. Did that mean that this system Archaic? If the system was Archaic.... then that means I'm an Archaic species. My chest felt tight again.

I'm illegal.
