Even if her bridge did manage to get finished while I was gone it would take her a while to get back to the wall. I could take Aurora back to Goliath, and come back before the queen could to too much damage. I made the choice. Aurora needed to be taken back to Goliath. Light breath was powerful.
I hadn't expected her to use her healing ability as a weapon. I pumped my wings hard. I started feeling light headed after a few minutes of hard flight. My wound was bleeding pretty badly. I needed to seal it up or I was going to be down as well.
I accelerated. I sagged slightly in flight. I suddenly felt support beneath me. Ethan was helping. My landing was less then graceful.
Having Aurora in my arms, and my own wooziness had completely ruined any chance of a good landing. Goliath smashed a spider using his giant form before looking to me. Aurora wasn't hurt. Just exhausted. Goliath relieved me of her, and I turned to leave only to find Ethan restricting me.
I growled half heartedly at him, but stopped there. I needed to stop, and heal myself. He was right about that. I used what little mana I had to stop the bleeding, but once again I was out of mana. Damage wise I wasn't doing too bad this time round.
I huffed out a breath before focusing on Goliath. Aurora was now curled up around his massive over sized neck.
"I found the queen," I gestured the direction the queen was, "Aurora used up all her mana to slice off a few of her legs. She can't move very well, but she's still mobile. It's only a matter of time before her subordinates finishes the body bridge, and she gets out of the chasm."
Goliath nodded. Ethan jumped up on my back. A single bound from the ground straight up to the notch in my spines. That got a few surprised looks from the people that weren't in the middle of fighting. The vast majority of the spiders were too busy rushing to aid the queen.
That didn't mean that there weren't a lot of spiders here for us to fight. I rushed to the edge of the chasm, and leapt off again. My wings slowly opened so my dive turned into fast glide. Ethan's black scale armor made him blend into my back. He didn't bother strapping himself in.
His physical strength had surged greatly. He didn't need help to hold on. It was easy to spot the queen. She was far larger then the subordinates that were surrounding her. She had made it to the wall, and started climbing.
It was a slow lopsided climb. She was being swarmed by her kin. It wouldn't be easy to reach her. I didn't care. Her subordinates weren't immune to my lightning.
Some easy XP for me. I blasted the layers of spiders on her back with lightning. The dead spiders fell off, but more swarmed into the gap in her armor. I bathed them in lightning again. Killing dozens more.
They fell off, and more rushed in to take the place of the dead. Why was she coating herself in her kin in the first place? I remembered the venom I sprayed onto her back. The venom wasn't nearly as effective when sprayed onto something verses being pumped around by a working blood stream, but it still worked. It must have turned everything that it touched to stone.
Every inch of her it touched might have turned to stone by now. She needed more armor because I'd created a weak point in her armor. My wings flared as I switched from circling to hovering.
{I made a weak point in her hide} I growled as I looked down at the queen, {I remember where it was, but I can't reach it from here.}
{You want me to use my telekinesis?} Ethan tensed as he got ready to throw his daggers.
{Once we kill the queen the others will scatter,} I bathed the queen in lightning again.
Killing dozens of her kin in the process. Ethan tossed his daggers. The daggers moved in an unnatural controlled manner. I kept on bathing the queen's armor in lightning. She was starting to pull herself up over the ledge of the chasm.
More, and more of her kin were swarming her. Ethan's daggers shot down between the outer layer of spiders as I bathed that same spot in lightning. The daggers absorbed the vast majority of the electricity before exploding. Ethan's control of the daggers wavered slightly as the amount of force needed to keep them in control went up. Suddenly a large swath of the queen's body was visible.
Including a grey stony patch on her ass. Ethan slammed the daggers through the weak patch. Drawing another agonized scream from the queen spider. Loud enough to hurt even my own ears. Both of us flinched away from the sound, but Ethan still managed to keep control of the daggers.
The daggers were moved at random through her insides. Her insides were nearly as tough as her outside so Ethan's strength was fading fast. I didn't need to kill her. I just needed to wound her enough that she couldn't recover. The combined damage we were doing would bring the beast down eventually.
The lizardmen in this area were going after the spiders that were rushing to aid the queen. We were a long way from where the humans were defending. I growled angrily. I wanted to see her go down. I wanted to kill her myself.
It wasn't going to happen. I didn't have the strength needed to kill her now though. Ethan tried calling the daggers back, but he didn't have the strength he needed to pull it through her armor.
{Leave them} I snarled {We'll come back for them after she dies.}
I started flying back toward the guild hall. My wound had started feeling as if it were burning. My neck wound went all the way through, and had started bleeding again. I landed not far from where the humans were fighting. Savannah, and Jax both looked sweaty, and pale.
