Mauldin stopped Tristan. This was unexpected and confusing for Tristan. He thought to himself, 'huh? Why is father stopping me'. Mauldin looked at Tristan in his eyes a glint of pity and hesitation appeared then he looked into his eyes and said

"Tristan you can't have this power".

Tristan was shocked by this as was his brothers as well. He looked at his father's calm eyes. There was a small ache that appeared in his heart at that moment. It was at that time that Tristan realized that he cared about his family here in this world as well and that their opinions were valid to him as well. He then hesitantly asked, " but father why?"

Mauldin let out a small sigh and then his eyes became stern then he said "Tristan it's not that I don't want to give you this power. You just can't have it. Son, you should know this. This power of ours is heavily reliant on our ancestral bloodline and you my child unfortunately has a very thin presence of it." To Tristan, this was like a thunderbolt. He felt miserable, to someone to have something that they dreamt of appearing in front of them but then not being able to acquire it is a very painful feeling. Tristan was feeling exactly this terrible feeling.

Mauldin seeing his son sad gave a small grunt and said "to us nobles, our life is a privilege and we should cherish it. What you have now is enough for you, you should learn to be useful to our family in the way you are. " then he pauses for a bit and then says " but if you want to give a futile Effort you can try reading this scroll. After you learn your inability and still pursue this path you can read any of these scrolls placed here then you can make a decision."

Tristan knew what his father said was right. He knew his father and had known that he would never tell something baselessly. The time that followed his father did not pay any more attention to him he went on to say a few more details about his little brother's education and dismissed them to their rooms but to Tristan, all that happens thereafter didn't have any precedence he was occupied by his thoughts. He went to his room and sat listlessly. He thought about this for a long time and it suddenly reminded him of an incident that happened in his previous life back then also he was in a similar depressing situation there he remembers a speech given by a fellow student and how that motivated him to pursue his career as a scientist he remembered the saying ' when one path closes two others will open you just have to look for it'
