Chapter 25: Mental Issues

Paul Mark widened his eyes at the words, fearfully shaking his head crazily, and while pleading, he also cursed Maverick somewhat erratically.

Maverick just continued his precise work, then casually opened his mouth, and pulled out his entire tongue.

To prevent him from being killed instantly, Maverick controlled the length of the tongue he pulled out and even tilted his head to the side thoughtfully, to prevent him from choking on his own blood.

"This is all because you couldn't keep your mouth shut and had to blabber. Now there's blood in your mouth, and I doubt those rats will pass up this opportunity."

"Oh, I almost forgot about your belly. Gotta make a little cut there too, so those lovely little creatures won't forget about it."

After Maverick finished these tasks, some rats, unafraid of humans, had already taken up positions nearby, and after this period of time, they would surely grow even bigger and fatter.

Paul Mark's limbs were immobilized, he couldn't speak, he could only silently whimper, and then he viciously bashed his head against the ground with the back of his skull, trying to bash himself to death.

Seeing his actions, Maverick immediately broke off a piece of steel bar and bent it into the appropriate shape before completely fixing his head in place, making it impossible for him to move, to prevent him from accidentally killing himself.

Even if that force wasn't lethal, knocking himself unconscious wasn't an option either because Maverick wanted him to gradually feel the approach of death, to repent or regret coming into this world, in extreme agony.

"Just stay here and welcome death, you mutt. In a few days, I'll have those two brothers, and your colleagues come and join you. Your trip to hell should be simultaneous, so you won't be lonely on the road."

Satisfied with the masterpiece on the ground, Maverick nodded approvingly, then waved goodbye to the powerless struggling Paul Mark.

To prevent any unexpected occurrences, Maverick also specially dug up a large piece of steel plate from the nearby abandoned factory and embedded it into the entrance of the basement stairs, sealing off any possible exits tightly, except for leaving a few ventilation holes poked out from the steel plate.

"Enjoy the peace, this is a death ritual I've carefully crafted for you." Maverick stood under the row of trees outside, softly reciting as he looked at the abandoned house in front of him.

This was just the beginning; his revenge would require more blood and souls.

After dealing with Paul Mark, Maverick quickly returned home. He sat at his desk, silently staring at the photo of him and Old York on the table.

Old York had already left this world, and no matter what means Maverick used, he couldn't come back.

Now, the only thing he could do was to teach those damn people a lesson, one by one, torturing them until they wished for death. Only then could he find some relief in his heart.

"Phew~" Maverick let out a long sigh, feeling like his nerves, which had been tense since earlier, had finally relaxed a bit.

It was only now that he realized that Venom hadn't communicated with him for quite a while, nor had it mentioned anything about wanting brains earlier.

Perhaps sensing Maverick's thoughts, Venom quickly condensed out of his shoulder.

"I now understand why you attracted me back then. Turns out, you're not a normal person either," Venom said with some emotion as soon as it emerged.

It hadn't been properly adjusted by Maverick's massive mental power back then, so its state before possession was extremely evil and chaotic.

Having witnessed Maverick's methods today, Venom also understood why it had chosen him as its new host back then.

Upon hearing Venom's explanation, Maverick couldn't help but wryly smile. He hadn't expected himself to be capable of such things or to have such thoughts, but if given the chance again, he would still do the same.

Even if it was inherent evil or being a born villain, it didn't matter to him. He didn't have such high standards for himself. As long as he could kill everyone who harmed him or opposed him, he didn't need to portray himself as a symbol of justice. If necessary or if reality demanded it, he wouldn't have the slightest psychological burden even if he turned into a demon.

Showing no mercy to the damn scum, treating loved ones and friends with gentleness like a breeze—this was Maverick's principle in dealing with people, and it was also what Old York hoped he could achieve.

Although that old man had a fiery temper and loved to curse, he genuinely cared for Maverick and was very worried about him getting hurt.

So whether it was during high school or before that in college, his only requirement for Maverick was if someone bullied him, he shouldn't hesitate to fight back.

"Have a piece of chocolate. It can help calm your mind," Venom said as it handed Maverick a hazelnut chocolate from the side.

Maverick didn't hesitate either. He directly broke off a piece and stuffed it into his mouth, then closed his eyes to savor the richness of the chocolate.

While Maverick was eating chocolate, Venom also grabbed a piece for itself and continued speaking, "You must have been wondering why I didn't communicate with you for a while."

"In fact, on one hand, I was surprised by your actions, and on the other hand, I sensed something unusual about your body at the time."

Upon hearing Venom's words, Maverick opened his eyes and asked with some confusion, "Unusual? What's unusual about my body?"

"It's still related to your mind. Most of the anomalies with you are connected to it," Venom continued.

"It's when you were communicating with that scum, your mind started to become more and more active, reaching its peak when you were laughing incessantly later on."

"It was like a sea suddenly boiling, feeling very dangerous."

"But luckily, it gradually calmed down later on. Otherwise, I feel like your mind would have exploded."

"I've been silent all this time because of this, to avoid our communication affecting your consciousness and causing any other unforeseen effects."

Hearing this, Maverick couldn't help but scratch his head helplessly and sigh, "Ah, why do I feel like there's a time bomb in my head? It's dangerous if I'm not careful; it might explode."

Upon hearing Maverick's words, Venom didn't hold back and quipped, "How can you compare it to a time bomb? Your head is much more dangerous than a time bomb."

Maverick "Bruh.."
