Chapter 15: Felicia Hardy

Under Maverick's overnight hustle, the software he wanted was quickly developed. He had already hacked into all of New York's surveillance systems and linked them to his computer.

To ensure timely feedback even when he was out, he created a reminder device similar to a button and sewed it into his sleeve.

When this device vibrated and heated up, Maverick would hurry back home to check the results on his computer.

Today's phones weren't as smart as those in his previous life; otherwise, he could have connected directly to his phone.

He had previously thought about using information gaps for investment and had invested a lot of funds in the industries he had envisioned, but those industries were still in the development stage.

After sorting out his own affairs, he planned to properly plan these industries. He already had a rough idea.

After finishing the software and starting it up, Maverick lay down on the bed to catch some sleep. If he didn't finish it all at once, he wouldn't even be able to rest properly.

Venom didn't disturb him when he closed his eyes to rest; instead, it ran to the box of chocolates on the table, opened the package with one hand, and nibbled on the chocolate with the other, looking quite content.

Although he hadn't been able to eat the brains he had been longing for, chocolate was quite satisfying.

Maverick slept through the morning and afternoon, waking up around three or four in the afternoon.

"You're awake~ *Burp*," Venom said, looking at Maverick waking up.

It was lying comfortably on the table, enjoying its drink, looking quite relaxed.

Seeing Venom enjoying itself, Maverick felt a bit hungry himself.

"I'll go out for a bit and grab something to eat," Maverick said to Venom after lying on the bed for a while.

Venom nodded and returned to his shoulder. "Perfect, go out and buy some more chocolate. I found a few good brands just now."

Seeing Venom, who only seemed to think about chocolate, Maverick couldn't help but shake his head and smile.

Although it looked fierce and terrifying, Venom was a creature much simpler than humans.

Maverick drove with Venom and soon arrived at a café.

It was a café that also offered some food and desserts. He picked up a book and slowly enjoyed his meal while reading.

He was reading some novels which helped him relaxed for a bit.

So there he was, sitting and reading his book while sipping coffee, while Venom hid under the table discreetly munching on cake and sausages.

Venom's appetite was truly remarkable. In just a short while, it had already devoured three chocolate cakes. Maverick could feel the odd looks from the waiter.

Venom continued to eat cake under the table, seemingly oblivious to the attention it garnered. Maverick sighed inwardly, thinking, "Like a bottomless pit."

Shaking his head to clear his thoughts, Maverick returned his focus to the book in his hands.

After some time passed, he suddenly felt the light dimming around him.

When he looked up, he saw a tall, blonde, and blue-eyed beauty standing beside him.

"Seeing you so engrossed in your book, I can probably understand why your grades are so good," Felicia Hardy said, her beautiful brows furrowed in slight distress.

"Felicia, what are you doing here?" Maverick was surprised to see the sudden appearance of the tall beauty.

Felicia Hardy was Maverick's classmate from high school to university, just like Peter Parker.

That's why she marveled at Maverick's excellent grades, as she had witnessed his brilliant academic achievements.

Although they had been classmates since high school, they didn't really get to know each other until they went to university because they were paired up as lab partners in the science group.

In high school, although Maverick excelled academically and had a good physique and handsome appearance, he rarely stayed after school and didn't participate in parties or clubs, so he basically had no friends.

Some jealous classmates even slandered him, saying he was a weirdo who was only good at studying, a point-scoring machine.

Some even went as far as to say he had some psychological issues, just like those rumor spreaders mentioned earlier.

Although these remarks seem laughable now, many people in high school indeed kept their distance from Maverick because of them. Felicia herself was influenced by such thoughts, and it wasn't until she collaborated with Maverick in university that her mindset changed.

For this, Felicia felt very sorry and considered herself foolish for believing those rumors.

Maverick was clearly outstanding, handsome, with a good physique, excellent grades, and a friendly and polite personality.

Realizing the danger of rumors, Felicia developed a strong aversion to them. They became friends through their cooperation in the science group.

Hearing Maverick's surprised question, Felicia raised an eyebrow and then pretended to be angry, saying, "Can't I sit and talk? Mavie, you're being rude."

Felicia's reminder made Maverick realize that he had indeed been somewhat rude, so he quickly invited her to sit across from him.

After sitting down, Felicia smiled at him and said, "I just went out for a stroll because staying at home was too boring. I didn't expect to run into you here."

Maverick smiled in response, "Indeed, what would you like to drink?"

"Just a latte," Felicia replied to the nearby waiter after some thought.

Maverick hadn't expected to run into Felicia today, especially since he hadn't been out much these days. It was quite a coincidence to encounter a familiar face as soon as he stepped out.

"How was your break? You didn't spend the whole vacation studying at home, did you?" Felicia asked Maverick as she picked up the coffee the waiter had just brought over.

Maverick paused for a moment before softly saying, "Same as before, didn't go anywhere special, just helped out at the shop and wandered around."

"That's what I thought," Felicia said with a smile, as if she had already anticipated Maverick's response.

"Oh, by the way, is Grandpa York doing well? I've been flying around everywhere this break and haven't had the chance to try his pizza," Felicia exclaimed excitedly, unaware of Maverick's sudden pause and slightly bitter smile.
