The Antagonist's Final Ambition: Chronicles of Chaos

One day, the Lords of the Abyss issued a challenge to the entire human race. "Come humans, challenge the abyss because your wish will be granted. A single wish will be the reward of the one who manages to overcome all of the trials." To keep the promise that he made to his only friend, Lucian intended to venture inside this Abyss, a place where anything could happen, a bottomless hole that appeared on Earth after the Great Cataclysm. Soon after setting out on this journey, Lucian met Rita under unusual circumstances, and they started to travel together. She was a woman that had the potential to become the last piece that he needed to put his plan into execution. But was Rita the person Lucian thought she was? Lucian was also in possession of a cursed helmet that asks for a heavy price from the one who uses it in exchange for extraordinary power. Lucian knew that he needed more than just his intellect if he wanted to finish what he started. But what were Lucian's real objectives? Was he after the wish?/What would he find beyond this bottomless hole? What would he see at the end of his journey? :::::: Disclaimer: The art on the cover is not mine. PROLOGUE 3

"KRIEEEEERRRK!" A deafening cry woke Lucian up, and when he opened his eyes, the figures of enormous winged creatures flying in the sky appeared in his field of view.

'So I didn't die...' Lucian thought, looking at his surrounding.

However, he didn't know where he was, everything looked so unfamiliar, and the world that he knew had changed in every aspect.

Wherever he looked, he saw gigantic trees, strange plants, and beasts, an environment that looked extremely hostile and dangerous.

"It seems like that was just the beginning..."

Lucian didn't know what happened but as long as he was alive, there was nothing he couldn't do. As such he began to explore this new world, feeling that he was actually more at peace without humans around.

First, he began to search for a way to strengthen his body by studying the unidentified energy that caused the mutation. It took him many years to come up with a theory that could answer all of his questions.

Then, he began to investigate all of the types of mutated monsters and plants that existed, from the smaller to the biggest. This helped him to understand the nature of the threat and come up with various plans that would help him to deal with all of the inevitable outcomes that he must face in the future.

Lucian was so engrossed in his experimentation that he sometimes lost track of the time.

And 800 years later...

Rumble! Rumble!

The ground started to quiver violently, and the mountains that were in the landscape began to move. They changed into humanoid creatures that were at least a thousand meters tall.

But this wasn't a surprise for Lucian. In front of him, dozens of such giants began to walk somewhere, and he was currently standing on top of the head of one of the giants, yet he was completely calm.

This was the world now. Everything had changed, and these kinds of creatures dominated the Earth.

They were mutated beats, the product of an invisible energy that originated from the Abyss, spreading and contaminating everything on Earth, causing many deaths and destruction but also evolution.

Only those who could adapt managed to survive, Lucian knew.

During all of these years, he stayed away from humans, reflecting on his actions. Something had happened on that day when he was unconscious, and he was sure that other humans other than him had survived but he search for them.

Instead, he stayed in this hostile environment, full of mutated monsters and other more dangerous things.

He continued to observe, learn, and evolve.

With the power of the helmet and his intelligence, he found a way to enhance his body and push it to the limit by learning to control a form of energy that always existed in the world, yet unnoticed by humans.

How could humans not notice such a thing, Lucian thought?

Now, he was no longer ugly or helpless. He was taller and his body was healthier. He was stronger than any human being. No one saved him and he crawled his way from the bottom with his sheer willpower and intelligence.

And after years of reflection, he finally found a way to make up for his biggest failure.

He finally found the reason why

humans continued perpetually to fail at the two things they were good at, thinking and evolving, and continued to be the wicked creature on Earth, not knowing about the reason for their existence.

It was because they weren't aware of the existence of an invisible parasite that hides inside every human, weakening their ability to think like superior creatures, and slowly eating away their existence, to a degree that they would go extinct sooner or later.

After pushing his imagination far and beyond, Lucian finally reached this conclusion.

This parasite affected the mind and the soul, making it hard to control for humans to control their desires.

He called it, "The corruption."

As a result, humans only bring destruction and destroy themselves. And that was also the reason why they didn't notice the form of energy that was always there.

This was the origin of all evil and prevented humans from evolving because they would realize the truth if they did, as Lucian did.

To permanently erase these corrupted humans and create new humans that were free from this invisible parasite, a superior gene born from two superior humans was needed, Lucian theorized.

However, the chance of a superior human other than himself appearing was low. And it had to be a female.

"It seems like I need a superwoman..."

Knowing human nature, however, Lucian thought, it was almost impossible unless he did something out of the ordinary.

Fortunately, these beings who identified themselves as the Lords of the Abyss appeared.

Those beings challenged humans, including Lucian.

They were pretty arrogant, but he was interested in meeting them. And if humans united together and challenged the Abyss, the chance of a superior human appearing would increase.

It was time for him to go to the continent where the rest of humanity settled after being driven to the corner by the monsters and finish what he had started.
