chapter 25: Is this a walk?

"Holy-!" I screamed, I couldn't help but bury my face into his shoulder as we surged upward. We came to a sudden stop and I felt abruptly winded. How high did we go? peeking over his shoulder I was mesmerised.

"Wow.." above us was a sea of stary sky; below was a fluffy blanket of white clouds, and placed perfectly upon the horizon was a bright crescent moon painting a beautiful picture. how awe inspiring, I thought admiring the view.

"even though the sparkling night sky and luminescent moon are lovely.." Said Amos stopping to stroke a length of my hair and cup my cheek with one hand. His right arm holding me tightly to his chest. He continued.

"They are nothing when set next to you." His glowing eyes seemed to drill into my soul! never before had I felt so terrified and flattered at the same time. blush or run away? As if I had a choice, there was no where to run to! Speaking of which..

"Weren't we going for a walk?" I squeeked out. Amos gave me a wonderfully patronizing smirk and we decended slowly; until we lightly brushed the cold white of the clouds. Before I could ask any more questions I found my self being hung by the wrist in mid-air. The cold nipping at me; my legs dangled perilously and my already shallow breathe caught. when?! how?!

"Don't panic." Said Amos with a chuckle. Easy for you to say! your life isn't flashing before your eyes! I shot back with my thoughts.

"It'll be alright." just as he finished those words the clouds below me bagan to swirl and condense until the out line of a flat path could be seen. still holding onto my wrist he said.

" ĿΛѠΛƱĪ" I felt weightless, he let me slowly sink and then grabbed and holding onto my hand; pulled me along the cloudy path.

"What spell was that?" I asked excited. I was a mage but I wasn't the best; it was important for me to learn what I could while I can. Amos smiled smugly.

"It's a spell I made myself. Simply put it's a combination of the [anti-gravity] spell and the [Levitate] spell. with the [anti-gravity] spell you get the effects of levitating with no control, but you can use [levitate] to control the direction you're going. it is it's own spell, although it's more complex than that; it's the simplest way I can put it..." Said Amos trailing off thoughtfully. this was the first time I had ever seen him with his guard down; it was so different from his usual twisted expressions. Did he have a love for magic? curious I egged on the conversation.

" Isn't that just the flight spell?" I asked nonchalantly. Amos gave me a look of disbelief; then with passion began to explain the differences of them all and basics of magic.

" Are you really a mage?! [levitate] and the greater spell [Flight] are a constant drain on mana! while [Anti-gravity] changes the laws of an object and to cast it- it takes mana only once. [ĿΛѠΛƱĪ] takes the [Anti-Gravity] spell and combines it with the duo directional commaned of [levitate]. how do you not know the basic designs of magic, there is so many things involved with it and ways to use it: like Enchanments, Invocations, have you even heard of Runes?!" Amos finally finished with a satisfied look on his face and I had a hard time holding back my laughter, but my amusement was as plain as day. He looked down at me and his cheeks reddened; his eyes shooting here and there.

"I..Don't usually talk so much." he said quiet and slow; a brief but all to familiar shadow of loneliness crossing his expression. Drawn in by that loneliness I closed the distance between us; pulling myself to him; I embraced him.

"Eva..?" He sounded confused but I didn't let go; I squeezed him tighter. full of empathy I replied to him.

"You must have been in so much pain." I glued my eyes shut trying to push all of the warmth and confort I could summon into him. Isolation is a cold and crippling experince; one could call it solitude but seclusion wasn't a forced exsistance. being shunned, hated, and alienated for a reason as unchangable as being who or what you are; was the worst kind of feeling one could have. If I had never left the colony and met Emma or Don would I, after so many years have been just as crazy as him? Honestly the very idea of that was terrifying.

I could feel Amos wrap his arms around me but I didn't let go; My eyes bagan to water and it was then I realized I needed this hug too. I reluctently remembered all of the painful injuries they caused me, their hateful eyes, and the hurtful words they would say. I had always toughed it out, never letting them see me cry, and worst of all accepting it as it was; because there was no one who cared and no way to change it. I let out a loud wail.

"Eva.. It's alright now." said Amos softly. I could feel him petting my head as he held me, I wasn't sure how long I cried like that but when I finally settled down, my face was cold and my body felt ragged; Had I cried a river? I pulled away and met Amos's gaze. He was wearing a gentle smile; his eyes like rubbies, twinkled. he wiped an already freezing tear from my face and kissed the corner of my both my eyes.

"For something that should be salty, your tears are surprisingly sweet." I was about to retort that what he just did was perverse and he should give me back my tears. but before I could he continued.

"Thank you Eva.." He said as he pulled my face closer. for the first time I could hear the unsettled tone in his voice; It was so unexpected and alien to the impression he gave off all I could do was stare.

"Thank you for this warmth." he said before he kissed me. instinctivly I tried to push him away and with strength I wasn't expecting; he pulled me forward turning the innocent peck into a deep kiss. his lips were soft and smooth; I had always thought they were hard and sleek like the porcilen which he appeared to be made of. our eyes locked and it was like time slowed to a crawl. the movement of the clouds, the wind, even the way we floated in place. I could see he completely understood me, My feelings reached him, and his piercing eyes that were always so full of mischief were full of affection.

However just as quickly as we rose; we began to fall. terrified I clung onto Amos for dear life. Amos on the other hand took this oppertunity to force his tongue into my mouth. My mind was sent spiraling into confusion; I could see the amusement and bliss in his gaze as I felt the tears in mine begin to swell. If I ever got the chance I was gonna make him pay for this ten fold! His tongue danced around the inside of my mouth, taking the lead and forcing my tongue to join in; it was all so distracting that I almost forgot we were about to die.

We stopped just before we hit the ground; I fell onto it bended knee with a pounding heart. looking up at Amos he was wearing a taunting and pleased expression. What was it with him; was he kind or cruel? my mind was doing back flips at this point!

"Let's play again soon Little Elf" and with those parting words; in the blink of an eye he was gone. suddenly realising how late it was I looked around and found myself one street away from the Inn Don and I had checked into 'Rose's peak'. feeling drained I headed straight for the Inn; my mind full of fantastic memories of the sky, moon, and Amos.

So very sorry about this. MY first draft of this chapter was lost so I had to do it again TT.TT sorry.
