3 vs 3 and Chance Encounter

The day of the match finally arrived. The days leading up to the match were pretty entertaining, after that talk I had with Kageyama I felt like he started to mellow out a bit more. Even to the point where he started to subconsciously ask me questions about how his sets were and what my preferences are. I was surprised by this and underestimated how much our little talk meant for him.

Shrimpy started to complain after seeing this as he was still getting very few sets but still got some regardless which I think is a very big deal as I remember him saying "You are not essential to win in this match."

I started to chuckle when Sugawara and Tanaka had their jaws to the ground as seeing this change in Kageyama felt like a foreign alien appeared in front of them. Pfft and seeing their accusing glances towards me was absolutely priceless and I wished I brought a camera that day.

Arriving at the gym it was filled with people.

"Haruto! You finally came." I saw shrimpy jump while yelling my name. I still couldn't figure out how he had all that energy all the time. I saw Kageyama beside him nodding towards me as I approached him.

"Oya? Mr. Rising Ace has finally arrived huh! Were you too busy surrounding yourself with girls that you almost came late?" I heard an irritating voice beside me and saw a tall blonde guy that wore glasses with an annoying smirk on his face.

Rolling my eyes towards his comment "Sorry they started talking to me and I couldn't just leave them. Oh should I teach you how to talk to a girl since I feel like you never had the chance to talk with one?" I commented back.

After hearing my reply I was able to see a scowl appear on his face. Heh victory is mine this time. This irritating guy was Tsukishima Kei, he has a really bad personality to irritate the people around him. I met him during one of the practices after school and I had to hold back my urge to spike the ball right on top of his head. We often tried to irritate each other out of habit, he got his wins and I got mines. I think I kinda get why he does this since it kinda is fun. I feel like I'll need to control myself before it's too late..

"You guys are ready?" said a beautiful girl with a mole on the left side of her chin. She was definitely a beauty and I can see why Tanaka likes to fawn over her. But somehow my blonde neighbor seems to outclass her in my mind.

""YES!"" We all yelled and we started the match that will decide Hinata's and Kageyama's future on the team.

"Nice pass!"

I passed the ball that was served by Daichi towards Kageyama. Hinata runs up to do his approach and jumps to hit the ball. Damn everytime I see it, it still amazes me how strong his jumps are. 'I may not be tall but I can jump!' I chuckled remembering that moment from last year but right now it's not the time to reminisce.

He hit the ball as hard as he could but a tall figure appeared in front of him. *bang*. Tsukishima blocked Hinata's hit and shocked him but before it could touch the ground I was able to cover him and revive the ball off his block. As he blocked it pretty hard I wasn't able to pass it perfectly but I still got it up.

Kageyama quickly went under the ball and saw I was unable to get a hit in as I was still trying to reset myself from covering Hinata. Leaving him the only option to set to.

He hesitated but still set towards him but unfortunately he got blocked again with the ball touching the ground this time.

[11-15] eleven to them and fifteen to us. They were starting to catch up as they tried to have me occupied with their serves leaving Hinata the only attacker.

"Hey hey! Mr. King, why don't you give him the "King Toss" that you were so proud of before?" Tsukishima taunted as usual but to his surprise Kageyama didn't flinch and returned to his position. This irked him for some reason and Daichi had a surprised expression on his face. Heh it looks like I can finally see what makes Kageyama the setter he is to be called a "King". I smiled with anticipation, staring at him trying to find his secrets. I matched his gaze.

I smiled even further. His gaze gave one message to me.

'Hit this set and let me see why they call you a Rising Ace'

I knew coming to this school was the best decision I could have made in my life. Daichi served the ball and I was able to pass it perfectly. As if we were in sync I ran up quickly and went for a quick right behind Kageyama but jumped before he was able to touch the ball. The opponents saw this as a fake and began to focus on Hinata.

*BANG

The ball bounced off their floor and almost reached the top of the railing in the gym. The ball was hit before they could react. The sting that my palm felt was incredible and joy started to fill my body. I quickly looked towards my setter and I saw the same excitement on his face. Seeing him not know how to express himself I raised my hand and gave him a high five.

"HEYEY THAT WAS SO COOOL! KAGEYAMA SEND ME SOMETHING LIKE THAT TOO!!"

"Shut it, I'll set how I want when I want."

Seeing them start bickering I looked towards everyone else. They had shocked looks on their faces and I dearly wanted to take a photo at this moment.

Haruto Watanabe

Seeing a player like him made me feel jealous. He had monstrous physical ability just like that midget but actually had the skills to also back it up. Even more, he was able to connect with his team in a way I couldn't. I told myself why need somebody else when you can win the game all by yourself. When I saw him in the gym when I first arrived I didn't know how to act.

But his simple talk made me think 'Is it really okay to rely on someone else? Will there be someone really there to hit my set?' I was skeptical but it seemed like a moment like that came sooner than I expected.

After everyone regained their attention back after witnessing our one play they resumed with a bit more focus. That orange midget served and we began our rally when it was our side. It went to an awkward spot so Haruto couldn't do the same play again. I started to think what set he would like and what I could give until I saw a figure jump behind me.

I remember the words that Haruto said before 'You should already know the reasons why he would be able to hit your sets' I subconsciously set the ball behind me and he hit the ball albeit not as strong as Haruto but still carried the same speed.

"Heyyy! See I told you that I can hit that set too!"

Seeing him smile all happily by himself I wanted to hit him for some reason but I can't explain this feeling.

This is fun

I looked towards Hinanta and told him "At your fastest speed and do your highest jump and I will get the ball to you"

We won the match winning both sets and was on the floor panting but had happy expressions on our faces.

"...Are those three a bit too scary.."

"I think we created a weapon that was more than we had expected.."

Seeing the members have solemn faces I nudged the two beside me and told them about the paper. They quickly got up and gave crumpled paper to Daichi. He saw the paper and it read "Club Registration Volleyball Club". He smiled and accepted them.

The beautiful girl grabbed a box and opened it giving the contents which were a black jersey that has "KARASUNO HIGH VOLLEYBALL CLUB" written on it.

"Let's do our best as a volleyball club"

""YES!""

We yelled loudly and started to chatter with each other talking about various things and showing off our jerseys.

"I want to play in an actual game as soon as possible..maybe a practice match"

"OH a practice match against another school!!"

Hearing those two talk I also wanted to play a game as soon as possible. As if the universe read my thoughts a teacher with glasses rushes through the door.

"We got a match!! It's one of the prefectures top 4 Aoba Jousai High School!"

Hearing that name my eyes shook and competitiveness started to grow inside of me.

During a rainy day, after practice Haruto walked to his apartment tired and feeling weak as he was working himself a lot preparing for the upcoming practice match.

"Ugh my body is killing me and I don't think convenience store food can be considered healthy for this type of situation.."

Thinking about my dilemma and what I should eat a girl with beautiful blonde hair passes by me seemingly in daze. I saw her go in the rain in her uniform without any umbrella to cover her body. I frowned seeing this but decided to continue to walk up the stairs as I feel like she should be fine as she decided to go in the rain without an umbrella so she knew what she was doing.

Telling myself this I walked up but then stopped. The image of her in a daze stayed in my head. After a while I turned around and began to find her.

"What the heck am I doing.. I sometimes hate this part of me of getting my nose into somebody's business just so I can help them for my own satisfaction."

First Kageyama and now this. It seems like what Akane said was right. I am a busybody.

Finally seeing her sitting on a pair of swings wearing a lost expression, I went up to her.

"What are you doing?"

Sorry for the late chapter. Anyways I felt like I did enough build up from the Haikyuu side and can finally start some development on main waifu Mahiru next. Till next time Peaceu!
