As Shaw disembarked from the train, he looked all around. But there was no sign of Drake. Part of him felt foolish thinking that way, but another part couldn’t help but feel that if Drake could have been there, he would.
The uncomfortable feeling in the pit of Shaw’s stomach surprised him. Shrugging it off, Shaw headed through the subway to get to the car park. Hesitating once more beside his car, Shaw looked around one last time.
Other than the usual gaggle of commuters, there was nothing out of the norm. Touching his chest where the amulet lay, Shaw finally got into his car to drive home.
To make sure he left enough room for his sister’s car, Shaw parked his own vehicle as far into the carport as he could. The following day was the start of his afternoon shift, so he wouldn’t be first out like he had that morning.
